Alitorry: Maybe?? Like, last Friday, Lose It says....

Budget: 1790
Food: 1,724
Excercise: 400 (I don't know if that's accurate?? What the treadmill said)
Net: 1,469
Under: 321

Is that ok?

I was using NOOM, but I like Lost It better bc I can scan foods.

Thanks for the input!

Wow. You seem (to me) to be spot on with diet and exercise. The only thing I can think of is that the PCOS maybe didn't resolve after pregnancy. I know there are several on these boards that deal with that. Perhaps go over to that area and see what they think.

Good luck. Stick with it. Something's GOT to work!

I would give it a little more time before you go and do anything drastic.

If a couple more weeks go by and nothing has changed you might consider look into a PSMF type of program such as Rapid Fat Loss which is similar to the IP diet but whole foods based. I'd also suggest you get your doctor's blessing first.

I could have written your post about a year ago - maybe with a bit less exercise but still - the same type of thing. I was following the generally recommended diet - low fat, reduced calorie, healthy whole grains, etc. along with exercise and I was getting NOWHERE. If I wanted to lose weight I had to cut my calories below 1000 and even then it was slow and erratic. Not to mention I was STARVING all.the.time!

Finally, in desperation, I decided to give low carb a try and it turned out to be the key to my weight loss puzzle. Now I eat between 1500 and 2000 calories a day, engage in moderate exercise and I've dropped over 50 pounds since last May.

It might be worth a try - talk to your doctor and see what he says.

In the meantime PUT THE COOKIES DOWN!

Don't worry I didn't buy any girl scout cookies this year! I can NOT have that crap in the house or I will EAT it all. My kids never "get" why we don't have junk and when they want crap, we drive to the convienience store and they get their junk, single serve! LOLOL!! They are on a steriod to control their autoimmune disorder and now are able to eat whatever they want. I know I am doing SOMETHING right bc both my kids are the perfect weight for their age/size. My older guy is TINY compared to other kids but for his frame and height, he is ok.

Will check into waiting a few, then maybe low carb or rapid weight loss. I mean, I need my body to just throw me a bone, ya know? Just a pound at this point. Just one??? LOL!

I mean, it really disccourages me and makes me really wanna just give it up, bc what's the point? (I know, that's not true but that's how it feels). I guess the good thing is that I don't gain weight????? Been about the same for 5 years.................................

You sound like me then because I am PCOS/IR/hypothyroid. My endoc has me do labs every 3-4 mos to check up on things to make sure I'm on the right level. It's had to be changed a few times.

And I'm tellin' ya -- if the dose isn't right, you can food log and exercise til the cows come home and NOTHING will budge.

I'd really look into a different endoc. The 500 lb doc was totally unprofessional.

A.

The frustration must be enormous yet you have the commitment to keep going regardless - that's something I really admire! I don't have any thyroid issues so I can't relate on that score, but I know I'd have thrown in the towel long ago if I was working that hard and not seeing any benefits.

If it does turn out to be PCOS/IR then the Insulin Resistance plan is an easy one to follow and one that I've had success with where you balance carbs with protein at every meal (2:1 ratio and no more than 30g carbs any meal). Within that rule some foods are counted as proteins and not carbs even when they have plenty of carbs but the book sets it out pretty good so it's pretty straightforward. South Beach is also meant to be good for PCOS etc.

I don't have PCOS and am in no way an expert, but in looking at the reviews at Amazon.com this one stands out: Insulin Resistance Diet.

Wow, your ordeal is insane! I can completely relate. I was working out 6 days a week doing both cardio and weight training every day and logging everything I ate to stay at 1500 cal. Nothing happened for over 6 months. Due to school I had to quit working out. And I can't eat gluten so I kinda already consume a low carb diet. I took out ALL added sugars and went totally clean eating and blam... the weight loss is back after months of plateau. It sound like your problem could be a medically related one.

Spot on, that's the book I have. The nitty gritty of the diet only takes up about 1/3 of the book (in case 256 pages seems a little too long!) with food charts and PCOS health-related stuff taking up the other 2/3. It's easy to read and it's more of a way of eating as opposed to a diet if that makes sense?

I'm hypo too and it has been my experience that I have to stay completely on plan for 3+ months consistently to see any visible weight loss. I may tone up but weight loss is the last stop for me. ymmv. Get your thyroid levels checked again.
