4 week Challenge ( Just Do It)
I dont know what challenge we're on .But I know its been such a huge success that I have to keep it going!!!! I started my challenge Feb 2002 and I reached my goal of 64 lbs loss over 3 months ago. For those who havent read about me before, I weighed 194 and now maintain 130 lbs current weight. It's worth every sacrifice. I prefer to workout and eat what I like in moderation and not deprive myself. Anyone who doesnt have thyroid problems , can do this if they want it bad enough. I can think of millions of "reasons" "excuses" why we have no time for exercise or to pick up healthy quick lunch! I wrote the book of excuses trust me! lol I decided once and for all that I wasnt going to hide at home because I didnt feel good about how I looked. It's a new life and I am so happy now , there are no words to describe just picking a size 6 dress and knowing it will fit perfectly! My personal goal is to keep exercising at least 4-5 days a week for 1 hr each day and maintain my current weight. This is a lifetime commitment. Its not just reaching your goal weight and going right back to the old eating habits.
Our challenge ends 3/24/03 , send me a private message and let me know how many pounds you want to try and lose in 4 weeks. Every saturday we weigh in ,let me know if you lost anything and I will edit the weigh in chart. My Story : http://www.getting2goal.com/success/gen.php Gen..Goal (maintain current weight) Jen519..Goal 6 lbs AngieMe..Goal 8 lbs plb112467..Goal 8lbs Choci..Goal 7 lbs Melekalikimaka..Goal7 lbs Kempyd..Goal 2 lbs Appleblossom..Goal 6 lbs Clarita ..Goal 5 lbs grizzlyshick..Goal 7 lbs JLoubug..Goal 6 lbs Kina..Goal 5 lbs |
For sure count me in. I'm REALLY ready for a fresh start! I'm going to set a goal of 6 pounds. Maybe the 8 pound goals are too overwhelming for me somehow. Or not. It's 11:54 P.M. I've gotten so used to staying up all night with my grandma that I'm having trouble sleeping through the night even though she's not here. I'm totally exhausted, though, and want to be fresh and rested when I start my new job on Wednesday.
I WILL eat right tomorrow and I WILL excersize. That'll be the beginning of a successful challenge for me. |
Count me in!!!
Put me down for 8 pounds this month. I know I didn't hit my goal last month but I also know it was doable and totally my fault for not hitting it. This month I intend to do my best to stay on track (all month). I am so close and I want it so bad!!!Starting weight for this challenge: 161 pounds
Gen, How is your house coming along? Kina, Your writing is wonderful. I really liked reading it. Clarita, Remember those chocolates that you ordered a while back? Were they any good? To everyone else to come, Lets all have a great month.:grouphug: :balloons: We're all in this for the long haul and together. We Can Do this!! |
Can I join your challenge?
I hope y'all don't mind if I join your challenge!:^:
I am doing pretty good, I try to journal every weekday! I find journaling really helps!! When I first came to 3FC I was at 230 lbs! Yuck!!:( But, I am down to 213 now!!! So you see I still have a LONG way to go!! I have set myself a mini goal of 175, from there I want to go to 150, and then I will reevaluate and possibly go to 130 or 140! I can't wait!!:D Anyway if y'all don't mind me jumping in here, I will set myself a challenge goal of 8 lbs by March 24! Thanks!!:) Paula:strong: :strong: |
Hi Paula! Welcome. You are doing great! You will like it here everyone is great and we are always ready to support each other.
|
Hi there everyone,
Oh, I can't resist... count me in on this one, too! ;) It's just nice to have someone to check in with and be accountable to. I guess my big problem was setting my expectations too high and I was getting stressed out about it. So I think my approach in the future will be to set very attainable goals with the hope (but not the obligation) to surpass them. I mean, I lost 7 pounds on the last challenge and I couldn't help but feel disappointed because my goal was set too high! My outlook is different now and I am psyched about that loss and look forward to the next seven pounds. So I'm going to aim for another seven, which would put me at 255 -- wow! Start weight is 262 this morning. I'm totally pumped. :):):) Oh, and... I decided that a Friday weigh-in is the best for me, so I will post my weight on Fridays, if that is OK. I'll update later this week -- it's going to be an AWESOME one! Good luck, everyone! |
Just Do it? OK I will!
Hello ladies. As much as I thought to myself that I was not going participate in another public challenge (this past Sunday while in the middle of a binge), I know I need the THREAT of weighing-in each week to keep me keeping on. So yes, I'm in once again.
Starting weight this challenge: 183 Challenge Goal: 7 lbs Welcome Paula. You're doing great! Glad to have you here. Angie (and all you other great gals), help me buckle my seatbelt so I don't fall out of the wagon if I hit a bump. Thanks. Jen, here's to a fresh start each month. Cheers! I hope you ladies have a great day and Gen thanks for keeping these challenges going. Aloha! Noelle :p |
Yeah Choci!!! I knew you'd be back. Let's do it!
|
Of course I will be in on this one too. I think I am starting to slow a little so I will set the goal at 2 lbs. I made the last one of 4 lbs.
Choci I knew you couldn't resists us. I am glad that you joined in. I think that if you keep posting you will be at your goal before you know it. Noelle shame on you for not wanting to join in. Paula you are well on your way to your goal. Stick with us and we will help you through all of the tough time and the good ones. We got a really good scale at work. (Stop me if I have already told you guys this)I have been weighting myself on the one in the locker room but it has me 2-4.5 lbs heavier (it will be off everyday). I think I may start to use the front scale. Of course it has the lower number but at least it will be more acurate. So with that said, I am at 149. That is were I wasnted to be for my birthday. Now I really am not to concerned if it goes much lower. Maybe 145, but I just need to start to tighten up what I have. I would what will happen if I keep doing what I am doing. I am curiouse to see what I will be at for July 1st. |
Thanks!
I appreciate everyone welcoming me to the challenge!! I am excited about this!!:D
Good luck to everyone!! Gen I clicked on the link to your story, you look great!!! Congratulations on your success!! Thanks for being an inspiration!! Paula:grouphug: |
Put me down for 6 pounds again. Summer's not that far away!!!
Welcome Paula, we're here for you when the going gets rough! Choci, I'm glad you're back. Don't worry too much if you don't meet your goal, just try to keep on the losing side. Slow and steady is the best way. Besides, I think I've only met my challenge goal once and it's been almost a year. The support really helps. We all contribute tips, advice and humor! So go for it!! |
Aw, shucks. Thanks to everyone for being so sweet and encouraging! You are all such a great bunch, so how could I resist??? :)
|
I am in! I kinda flaked out on this last challenge due to sickness and life changes. I have been maintaining for a couple weeks but am back on board with fitness goals.
I would like to lose 5 lbs this challenge and master my pilates dvd! Angie thanks for reminding me, the chocolate has not arrived yet:) Nice to see you girls back in on this challenge you are all my inspiration. |
Hi everyone
Hi everyone- Welcome Paula:) I plan to set my goal for 7lbs this time. No more 10lb goals for me, I know since I'm not to far from goal that things may start to slow down, so I want to be realistic. I hope everyone has a great challenge. Take care. Di
|
Hi all! I may as well jump in too. I'll say 6 lbs.. That should be doable. I have about 25lbs to lose altogether. I would like to reach my goal by June. If every month I set a mini goal, which definitely sounds better, I should be there. We can all be there!
Thanks for the challenge, Jen |
Hey Jloubug! I like the mini challenges too it helps to think in smaller numbers, doesn't make it seem so big. Good Luck and welcome. We can do this together!
|
Thanks :)
Thanks Paula ! I was watching a home video from 2000 New Year's Eve party and I was in shock to see how big I was. IT was pouring rain tonight and I was going to miss tonight's workout ,but after seeing this video I went to the gym with thunder and lightning! lol
Angie, we just signed the blue prints(approval) so they can start building by mid March or the end of march. It will take 4 months to complete so I'm looking forward to move during Summer Vacation! Glad to hear everyone is doing well :) night,Gen |
JOIN
Hello everyone,
Well, I know all of you by reading about you for months and months. It is time for me to join this great bunch of gals and get serious again. It is still very cold here and lots of snow so I am going to have to motivated to exercise this month. I know some of you will recognize my name because I have sent a few personal messages. I will try for 5# loss this month..... starting at 192....gasp! I think this has been a great tool for so many and for Gennel to maintain is such a great effort of kindness on her part! Guess it is time to jump on the wagon!!! Roseblush |
Welcome Roseblush!! The more the merrier. I live where there is snow and cold too. It makes it more difficult to stay motivated but we had 2 days last week that were in the 40's and it was like heaven. Made me remember that spring will be here soon. Good Luck! We will all be here for any support that you may need.
|
I am not starting this challenge off very good. I started working out again. (only cardio though) I got on the scale this morning and it was up 2 lbs. Now I have to lose 4 for this challenge. AAGGHH!
I think it may have to do with the sushi we ate last night for dinner. I must have had to many carbs. |
How's Everybody?
Just checking in with everybody! I guess my day is going good! My pants yesterday and the ones I have on today are getting loose!!! YES!!
I got my outside walk in yesterday, I hate to tell all of you snow bound folks, but our temps have been in the 70's the past few days and the weather has been WONDERFUL!!!!! :smug: Sorry!! But anyway I walked a half mile outside last night!! It was GREAT!! And got up this morning and did my WATP 1 mile tape before work!! Gen, I noticed you are in Florida, I am in South Georgia! About 50 miles north of Tallahassee!! What part are you, if you don't mind me asking!! I had fun with these colors, sorry I got carried away!! Welcome Roseblush! I am new here, too! Paula:grouphug: |
Welcome to the newcomers! It is always nice to see some new faces :) I am doing ok so far this week. I am really anxious to lose this 5lbs then I will have 5lbs more till goal. It is pretty easy for me to stay at goal weight as long as i get 3-4 workouts in a week and maintain a fairly healthy eating program. I had a rough year last year..moved out of my parents house, ended a 5 year relationship, started a new job...my workout program was neglected and I comforted myself with burgers, chocolate and mochas and gained about 25lbs. I have hypothyroidism and I think that may make it a bit more difficult to lose weight. Does anyone else have this ailment?
|
Welcome Roseblush and Jloubug. There's always room for more on this weight loss wagon. The more eyes and ears watching, the more my conscience speaks to me when I'm making food choices. Thanks everyone.
I started off this challenge with dinner at a fancy restaurant last night. The food was great and I managed not to eat everything on my plate but took half of it home to enjoy for lunch today. I did do dessert but didn't eat the whole thing. Ahh, baby steps. I like what Madcat says, 'it's not a diet, it's just my life' . Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. Kempy, if it's not muscle weight, then it's probably water. As long as you're working out I wouldn't worry too much about it. Clarita you've been through many rough spots and it sounds like you've handled it very well. Wow, only 10 more lbs to goal, that's great. I have a good friend who has a thyroid problem and she does say that her weight loss is much slower since being diagnosed. Just take it one day at a time. The slower it comes off the more likely it is to stay off, I think. Paula, you sound so motivated. I love it, it inspires me to keep going. Everyone else, hope you have a great day and I'll check back later. |
Well, last challenge I signed on for 6 and lost 2. This time I'm signing on for 6 and I'm going to lose 6!! Actually, I've already lost 2 from this Sunday. Was that when this challenge was to start? I've been doing very well this week with my eating. My dr started me on an anti-anxiety medication a couple of weeks ago and I've read that that can help. I'm on one that they use to help people stop smoking and it's supposed to work on the part of your brain that deals with addictions. It is seeming to take the edge off of my desire to eat 24/7. Not a miracle drug, but I think it's helping me some. What a nice side effect, huh? I kinda feel like a big cheat but, oh well.;) My total that I needed to lose was 63 pounds, I don't know how you lost that in three months Gennel!! I've been at this for 5 and I've only lost 38 pounds. AARRGGHH!! I see that we've got a lot of new people, hello and welcome.:) I had to go back through my journal to see where I started the last challenge at so I'm putting it in here this time. I started this challenge on 2/23/03 at 173. I'm aiming to be 167 by the time we finish. Hve a great one everybody!! TTFN,
|
Thanks for the welcome!
I sort of blew it last night at cards, but I'm going to call it dinner. Nothing too extreme, moderation right?!! I mean, if I can't eat some of my favorite things, I couldn't do this. When I got on the scale this morning, I was pleased. I weigh myself almost on a daily basis now. I gained weight when I didn't weigh myself for months! Yes, the clothes did get tighter, but with the season change came some different clothes, and then when I went back... well, I couldn't for some. I kept them though, and I'm going to wear them again, this I pledge! Spring is almost here! Jen |
Hello there. I am still not getting e-mails when someone posts even though I'm subscribed to this thread and the e-mail notification box is checked. Oh well. I'll just have to check in periodically.
I started my new job yesterday. I have to go into Seattle for a month or so until they open their shop closer to home. It's 54 miles roundtrip and the parking fees are outrageous, so I've decided to ride the bus in. It takes a bit more time, but I can get a monthly pass for the same amount as I'd pay for a week and a half of parking, not to mention gas and wear on my car. I sure got my walking in yesterday. I decided to get off a couple of stops early, just for the purpose of walking. Then I found out I got a full hour for lunch, so I walked for about 25 minutes. After all that, I had gotten my bus info from the internet and it was WRONG. So when I tried to catch my bus home, I missed it by five minutes. I could have waited another 35 minutes for the next bus, but I decided, instead, to walk the 3 miles to the bus tunnel and catch a bus home from there. Guess I'd better start getting ready for work. Catch up later. Jen |
Good Morning!
How is everybody doing? Just checking in!!
I am sooo excited about this challenge! I want this 8 lbs off here!! I think I have finally come to the realization that there is no magic cure :wizard: That the only way I an do this is to work at it :strong: Here's wishing everyone a great OP day! Thanks again for the welcome!!:D Paula |
Laney! Noway!
Noway! I didnt lose 64/65 lbs in 3 months! I've maintained it off over three months now. IT actiually took me about 8 months to lose that weight. I read your post and wondered to myself " Who lost 64 lbs in three months!?"
Clarita , I agree about the maintaining part. As long as I get 4-5 days workout I have maintained it off pretty well and I do get to eat whatever I want on the weekends. Well I better run, have guests staying over and we have to go out . ttyl! Gen |
Duh, I read it wrong. Here I was thinking that I must be a compete slacker!:o I'm such a dork. I didn't hit the treadmill today because my legs are pretty sore from yesterday and Tues. But, Dh and I went to the mall and did three laps around before we slowed down to do some window shopping. I don't feel quite so bad!:) My diet's been pretty good except I bought the kids some Reese's Pieces, which happen to be MY favorite candy!! Boy was that a mistake. Someone is going to eat the rest of them tonight and it's not going to be me!! I want them out of the house. I have to remember to buy them treats that aren't my favorites. I didn't even think about it when I bought them. Have a great one,
|
Serina, 38 lbs in 5 mos is great progress. It's not a race after all, just a road to better health. I've been doing this for 4 mos and am down 32, so sounds like you and me are doing this at our pace. :)
Jen519, 54 miles R/T :fr: . That's more than half the distance if I drove all around the island here! I have a 3 mi. R/T commute to work. I love it. Great job on the walking though. JLoubug (another Jen), ah, a fellow scale worshipper , just like me. It's such a nasty habit but I'm addicted. Ever try the pants-o-meter? I've got a mini-goal size 14 Levi's hanging on the closet door. I think another 10-15 lbs should do it. (crossing my fingers). Women's clothing manufacturers' should be shot! A size should be standard, not vary from brand to brand. It's infuriating, I tell ya! Well, gotta get back to work. See ya! ~~Noelle~~ |
Just thought I'd say hi. Nothing interesting to report. I've been doing really well during the day and when the kids go to bed the munchies set in. I think it's a combo of loneliness (DH is away), boredom and exhaustion. But it really hasn't been TOO bad. I'm drinking too much again. Beer or my current fav, hot chocolate w/ Baileys and whiskey.:s: Thats probably quite a few cals...tomorrow I'll have a mini goal: Be good!!! One relly good day will put me back on track. Hasta luega chicks!
|
hi
Hello everyone....hope all is well....... Clarita I saw in your post that you had a thyroid problem...are you on medication? I have been dealing with the same problem for about 4 years now and take a fairly high dosage of synthroid. Has been an ok eating week so far but haven't found my way to exercise yet this week.
Working all day and meeting in the evenings...but I better get in gear soon!!!!!! Hope you all have a great week! Roseblush |
Hi everyone! I am having a great week this week. I can't wait to weigh in and tell my loss!! Gee, How long has it been since I was excited to weigh in?
Roseblush, Could you do 15 minutes here and there through out the day for exercise? That is what I do and it still has given me results. I know how hard it can be to claim a big block of the day to get it done at once. AppleBlossom, Nights are really hard for me too. I like to sit and mindlessly munch while I watch tv at night. It is the hardest habit I have had to try to break. Good Luck. When is hubby coming home? Have a great day ladies! |
Good Morning!
Hey just checking in not much going on, here except my MIL is having surgery this morning! They are trying to correct problems that years of acid reflux has caused!! If you get a minute say a quick prayer for her, she was so scared!
The weather here is yuck, thank goodness for videos so I can exercise inside! Clarita and Roseblush, my husband now has hypo thyroidism, due to the fact his thyroid was damaged when he was on radiation for cancer (lymphoma), his has been cancer free for over a year, I pray he stays that way, anyway he takes Synthyroid. He has put on some weight, but his biggest problem is he is extremely heat intolerant!! He is hot almost all the time!! This summer should be FUN!! Everybody have a good weekend, I will weigh tomorrow, but not report til Monday AM. Thanks!!:) Paula |
I missed it all!
I have been so busy I hadn't realized that a new thread had been created. Anyway we have a whole lot of new people. WELCOME to this amazing thread full of wonderful people. Gennel I know this is a bit late but could you put me down for 5 lbs? Thanks. I have to say you gals I really have to get my butt in gear my family challenge is coming to an end on the 15th of March and the bank is worth $300 buckaroos!
These past few days I have been keeping my hands busy and away from the goodies. Unfortunately I can't say that I have been exercising. Actually I have picked up another hobby I had put aside only because I have been so busy with school. Anyway it keeps my hands busy which means I can't snack and watch the tv at the same time. I was invited to a baby shower this Saturday, the hostess is having a baby girl. I didn't find out til Sunday that I was invited so I got busy and started crocheting. Let me show you what I have been doing. If you want to see click here baby blanket. I will talk to you later. Kina |
Kina-You are very talented. Beautiful blanket! Good idea with keeping your hands busy.
melekalikimaka-yes, I too have a pair of Zenia jeans hanging on the inside of my closet door. Size 11/12 from the junior department! I wonder when I will see that again... June hopefully! Of course right now they are covered up by the wonderful ironing accumulation that I should do tonight! Friday night excitement!!! Tomorrow should be better, if I get it all done tonight that is. I've been doing pretty good with the food. Had a big lunch today, so dinner should be lighter. That'll work. Must work out too. I haven't for a few days. Jen |
Kina, That blanket is beautiful!!! My mom crochets alot. She has made some really nice blankets over the years.
|
I am down to 159!!! I lost 2 pounds this week. We lost our power last night from 1:00-6:00 this morning. EEKS!!! It was so cold!
I hope everyone has a great weigh in and an even better day!!! |
Hello all! I am happy to report a 2 pound loss for the week!! Two weeks in a row with a 2 pound loss. I am beyond happy. One more pound to drop into the 160's!! I haven't been here since high school.:D I went to a scrapbooking party last night. It was so nice to get away from the kids and household stuff and concentrate on my friends and my hobby. I got three layouts done. And I didn't eat a rediculous amount of munchies. But I did have two big glasses of wine though.:yikes: It was worth it though. It was so relaxing and fun. It is snowing again, ugh. I did 3.25 miles on the treadmill this morning I went pretty slow (3.4-4.0) and didn't run at all because my legs have been hurting. I'm hoping to be up to speed tomorrow after a day of semi-rest. I hope you all have a good weigh in today. I'm off to fullfill my domestic responsibilities, you know, cooking and cleaning and laundry and on and on....... HAve a great day ladies,
|
I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS to Angie on dropping into the 150's!!! You go girl!:dancer: :bravo:
