Good morning ladies. No loss for me this week  , still hanging in there at 183. I'm not surprised since I've had so many parties and indulgences this past week. But watch out for me next week  . I'm gonna do it by golly! I have the right mind-set so I'm just going to keep going forward and downward.

Congrats Angie and Serina on your fabulous losses! :cb: Woo-Hoo!

Well, I'm off to don my domestic goddess tiara and tackle Mt. Laundry. Hope everyone has wonderful day. Cheers!

grizzlyschick 03-01-2003 11:28 AM

Hi everyone

:cp: Way to go Angie and Laney! Well I'm down 1 lb this week. I was on a plateau from last Saturday until yesterday, then TOM started and I lost a pound! First time I actually was happy TOM was here! I was wondering if any of you gals lift weights, and if so if it's with the machines or free weights. I do the machines and some basic free weights, but I'm wondering if I should ask the trainer to help me come up with a free weight program instead. Any suggestions? Oh Kina the blanket is beautiful:D ! Well hope everyone has a great weigh in. Take care. Di

No loss for me this week, but my body is being weird so I will let it slide. My doctor is blaming all this on my thyroid and has increased my dosage. Hopefully everything will get back on track and my metabolism will have a mini boost. Its gorgeous and sunny up here in Washington State so I think I might have to go to the park and have a nice walk. Congratulations on all the losses!

JLoubug 03-01-2003 02:36 PM

I'm doing good so far. I worked out already today. The weekends are when I have problems. Going out tonight, but I must stay on track!

Found out why the power was out last night. The building we used to rent out of when we had a bakery storefront burnt to the ground and knocked out the electricity to my side of town. The building is demolished. YUCK!

Congrats on all of the losses and maintains this week!

Roseblush 03-01-2003 06:25 PM

choci 03-02-2003 05:47 AM

Oops, I didn't check in yesterday... I was too busy beng hungover, I guess! :P

I am happy to report I made it into the 250s and reached my 50 pound milestone! I wieghed in yesterday at 259, putting me at a 3 pound loss for the week and 51 pounds total. AND I get to update my mini goal again! Woo hoo! The only thing is that I know it had a little to do with having not eaten much on Friday and drinking too much. I am sure I was dehydrated.

BUT, I will take what I can get -- and I know that I did have an excellent week OP and exercising. It was so funny, when I saw those numbers on the scale it took a second for my brain to register the number! I had to think about what it meant because I haven't seen that number in so long! :D

Congrats to everyone who had a loss this week. I am crossing my fingers for the coming week as it is PMS/TOM coming up for me. Everyone else, chin up and keep going! Let's do it!

~~Amy

Apple Blossom 03-02-2003 02:48 PM

No loss this week. Actually, I didn't even get on the scale. :p
I have to start exercising. Eat less, exercise more.
I had munchies last night probably because I am ovulating. We have made an important decision: If we decide to have baby #3, we will plan for a May or June baby in 2004. That means I won't have the "I'm pregnant "excuse for looking lousy in a bathing suit this summer. So 10 pounds gotta go. 6 for this challenge would be great so time to bear down!!
Congrats to all the losers, I hope to join you next week-end!!

JLoubug 03-02-2003 08:37 PM

I think I stayed on track last night. I did have a few drinks though. I got up late this morning, so I didn't check the scale. We shall see tomorrow.
Where did the weekend go?
Jen

Just Checking In!

Good Monday Morning!
Just checking in, this will be a quick post, I have a ton of work to do today!
I weighed in and I am down to 210! From 213!!! YES< YES< YES!! A 3 lb loss!!

I even stayed OP this weekend! Which was a tough weekend for us!! My MIL who had surgery on Friday, is in Intensive Care as of yesterday, because her lung filled with fluid! She also had a reaction to the pain medicine they gave her.

Anyway , congrats to all for making a conscience effort to make a life change for the better!!!

Paula

:D

Kempyd 03-03-2003 12:44 PM

:cp: This is for all of the losers this week. You guys are doing great.

I am not stepping foot on a scale. Not after the weekned I had. I think I am going to try to wait until Friday to see what the damage is and I will send in a damage report. I swear I think I had my own bar room in my stomach at one time. I don't think hubby and I will be going out anytime soon.

JLoubug 03-03-2003 05:19 PM

I'm up .5 lbs. from Friday. That's pretty good, but I never like to see a gain. I felt like I was doing so good this weekend too. It must have been Saturday night's fault! Now that it's Monday, I should be able to plan my meals well again for the week.
Congrats Paula on the loss! You made it through the weekend! I hope I can say that for me about next weekend. I hope your MIL is doing better too.
Jen

plb112467 03-04-2003 08:38 AM

Thanks!

Jen, thanks for the congrats and the good wishes for my MIL. We still don't know why her lung filled with fluid, they should have the test results today, and maybe we will know something. They will only say she is no better, no worse! And Jen don't worry about .5 lbs, who knows it may be gone today.

Hope everyone is doing okay!:balloons:

I moved up to my 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds for Abs video, it is a much better workout than the 1 mile. Whew, I was sweating! But it does make you feel better. I just keep telling myself that if I can keep eating right and exercising, maybe I can avoid some of the ailments that normally occur as we get older! I know some things are not caused by weight, but some are, and those are the ones I can do something about!!:)

Y'all have a good day, we are having a rainy one here!

Paula

JLoubug 03-04-2003 05:22 PM

Hi all! I didn't exercise today, yet. I'm going to a concert tonight and hope to dance it off. It all counts! Just hope I'm not sorry in the morning.
I hope everyone is doing good today.
More snow coming our way tonight. Enough already!
Take care,
Jen

jen519 03-05-2003 12:23 AM

Hi everyone. I guess I forgot to check in this weekend. I didn't lose any. Just maintained. I was going to say how great I was doing until I hit those friggin' girl scout cookies. Ate a whole box of Samoas tonight. Otherwise, I've been doing great. I still love my new job and have been getting my walking in my getting off the bus a stop or two early. Congrats to everyone who lost last week. I still have a couple of days till weigh-in to maybe counteract the damage I just did. I'm afraid I'll just have to skip the bus and walk all the way into Seattle to burn off those darned cookies! Let's see 26 miles at 3 mph...

Jen

JLoubug 03-05-2003 01:56 PM

Jen from Jen, I like your attitude! Maintaining is a good thing, it beats a gain anytime! The Samoas are gone now too, another good thing!
Another snow day! Good time to recover from the concert. It must have known! It was a good time, very energizing!
I worked out already today, going to have a heathly salad and fruit for lunch.
I hope everyone else doing good. Take care.
Jen

Clarita 03-06-2003 12:51 PM

Hi Everyone, it has been awfully quiet around here :(
I think I have finally got a loss in this week. After two weeks of maintaining. I don't know how I did it. Perhaps it is the switch up in my exercise routine. Oh those evil samoas!! I have a box on my counter calling to me. I was a girl scout till I was 18. Those girl scout cookies were a yearly treat and I just can not resist them!

plb112467 03-06-2003 01:35 PM

Hello!

Just checking in...

Your right Clarita it has been quiet. Can you believe I have not bought ANY Girl Scout cookies this year!! I knew if they were around I would cave. Then someone here at work bought some and put them out on our "kitchen" table!! I have to pass there to go to the bathroom, but I resisted!!! I can't believe it! I am a sucker for the Do-Si-Dos!! I could eat a whole box! That's why I didn't but any, one wouldn't cut it for me!!

Hope everyone is doing OK!

Paula

angieME 03-06-2003 03:46 PM

I'm here still. I am PMS ing right now so I have been nibbling on things I shouldn't. Not to bad but enough to bug me. I am going to cut my supper in half tonight to help cut some calories out.

Girl scout cookies!!! I Love Samoas and Thin Mints. I said no this year to. My husband and kids all screamed NO as I told the girl we wouldn't be buying any this year. They weren't to happy.

JLoubug 03-06-2003 04:05 PM

I'm taking a test tonight and have hardly any appetite! WOW!
I will have to eat something though; keep those brain waves flowing. Wish me luck!
I cut my dinner in half the other day and ate the rest for lunch today with some fruit. It worked.
I shoveled and worked out yesterday! No time today to exercise. Got to go study.
I hope everyone is doing good!
Jen

Kempyd 03-06-2003 04:37 PM

I am still here too. I havnt' been very good this week so I am hoping for next week to be better. Hubby will be coming hometomorrow night and he is on a diet too so he will be able to get me back into the groove.

melekalikimaka 03-06-2003 06:47 PM

Hello all. Kempy you're lucky that you can have hubby help you "get your groove on". Ooops sorry, that came out wrong. Oh well, you know what I mean. I'm one to talk. I've been eating all sorts of junk through the weekend and finally yesterday and today I'm back on track. I'm the one that's trying to get hubby to go and buy me some goodies. Luckily, he turned me down  .

Keep on trucking girls, we can do this!

Roseblush 03-06-2003 09:25 PM

hey

Hello Everyone,
Well the snow finally arrived... and it has dumped...... you would think the west could actually have winter...but NO, not this year! I was suppose to have company this weekend but they cancelled because of the roads.... boo hoo! I live like 150 miles to the nearest town in any direction and have not been anywhere for tooo long this winter..... I always told my friends when I left Alaska I was really moving to the Wilderness after I relocated here from Alaska. My little bright spot has been dog sitting my cousins dog, who is building a house in Hawaii this winter...so that has helped. Diet?? right.... I have not been overindulging but not eating very well either...Exercise..... not enough...... nice to know there is always tomorrow.... Thanks for listening..... hope everyone is well....
Renae
P.S. Gennel.... what's been going on with you...... any news to share...has anyone heard from Rusty Rusty.....

jen519 03-06-2003 11:28 PM

I'm trying to avoid seconds on dinner. Also trying to avoid opening (and therefore eating) another box of cookies. It's not like I went out and bought them. My daughter is a girlscout and we have a couple of cases just lying around. Paula, I wish I had your willpower. You too Clarita. Anyway, my daughter's sold all but 3 of the Samoas, (1 to me as I mentioned the other day!) Right now they're in the trunk of my car, along with a partial case of thin mints and a partial case of tagalongs, but they're screaming at me and the sound carries.
I want to weigh myself and see how much damage I did this week, but I swore I would wait until Saturday. I'm still having trouble with "portion control", but at least I'm walking. Yesterday I walked 2 miles at lunchtime in addition to my walks from the busstop.
Man, has anyone noticed that this losing weight thing is a bit difficult from time to time?

Jen

melekalikimaka 03-07-2003 12:53 AM

I hear ya Jen on the difficulties encountered during weight loss, LOUD AND CLEAR! I was in a slump myself over the weekend, eating eating eating, not caring...then I came to my senses and 'fessed up to some of my girls here and they pulled me up and got me back onto my feet. You can do this! Great job on the walking! It's definitely a good exercise (it's kind of like the only thing I do, besides the indoor variety  ). Wear earplugs if you don't want to hear those cookies begging you to eat them. Sometimes I need ear plugs and blinders! Samoas and Thin Mints be gone :wizard: !

Hey Roseblush, what part of Hawaii is this house being built? I'm on the island of O'ahu.

plb112467 03-07-2003 08:43 AM

Hey Jen it was pretty cool to see my name and the word willpower in the same sentence! Thanks! Believe me I don't know how I have resisted those GS cookies this year! Like I said before the Do-Si-Dos usually get me!! I have been known to eat a whole box in a day!! :o Not that I ever told anyone!! I was a closet eater!!

Well hope everyone has a good weigh in! If not a loss, at least no gain!! I'm crossing my fingers for a loss!:^: I will report in on Monday.

Take care everyone!! Healthy eating! :D

Paula

choci 03-07-2003 09:13 AM

Hi everyone,

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one struggling this week! I definitely notice that this weight loss thing IS especially difficult from time to time... and this is one of those times for me.

Of course, I need to be not quite so hard on myself, as this was TOM week, and it came with a vengeance. Bloat? Yep. Cramps? uh-huh. Irritability? Cravings up the wazoo? You bet!

The only thing that I felt really good about is that I got my usual exercise in, but even then... I didn't feel like I could work out at the capacity I normally do. *sigh* No matter how long I am have been a woman, I just never get used to TOM.

Anyway, my eating was, I'd say, so-so. Not terrible, but not stellar, either. I am trying out weekly weighing, but I did cheat a little and hopped on the scale yesterday and today and was not very pleased -- I am back where I started for this challenge! 262. Well... I kind of expected it, both with TOM and with my most likely false reading last week (due to excessive drinking the night before) of 259. *double sigh*

Well, that's OK. I'm looking forward to weighing in tomorrow, and to a great week next week -- I usually do really well once I get past TOM.

Onward and upward!

angieME 03-07-2003 09:56 AM

Choci, I think all we can do is ride out TOM as best we can and be vigilant to make up for it in the 3 weeks after. I wonder why we crave so bad the week before. I never crave celery or carrots.

Good Luck tomorrow guys! I know I have a loss but it isn't as good as it showed a few days ago. I was doing awesome and then it was literrally like hitting a brick wall. BAM, I wanted brownies. It doesn't help that that is my job so there they were. Today I am not baking anything so hopefully I can keep my cool and have a nice weigh in and stay on track.

angieME 03-08-2003 09:49 AM

I am down 2 more pounds this week. My total lost for this challenge is 4 pounds. I stayed on track perfectly last night and it wasn't easy but I chewed gum all evening so I couldn't munch. It probably helped that I have to go grocery shopping so there wasn't anything in the house to eat. haha

It is nice out today so me and Jay just got back from a walk. I think I will take another one later on today. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

laney1733 03-08-2003 10:36 AM

Hello ladies! Boy has this list been quiet this week. I've been doing pretty well. Yesterday was Samarra's (dd) birthday and she wanted KFC so we all went. DH and all the kids ate but I resisted!:D I fed Sarah (the baby) mashed potatoes and thought about weighing in this morning. I came home and had a turkey sandwich and an apple. That is like a first for me cuz' I have NO willpower. Esp when it comes to eating out. Also the whole family went for a walk yesterday, one mile. The kids complained the entire time, but we're going again today! I hope everyone haS A GOOD WEIGH IN AND A HAPPY WEEKEND. ttfn,

laney1733 03-08-2003 10:39 AM

Duh!! I forgot to post my loss, two pounds this week!:dizzy: Yahoo, I'm so happy! I think that puts me at 4 for the challenge. I think I'll actually make goal (6lbs) this time. Happy happy day.

melekalikimaka 03-08-2003 11:17 AM

Challenge goal 7#s; #s lost = 0

Today's WI: 183  can we say 'maintain' ?
No loss since last week....wellll actually, I put on a couple of lbs between last weigh-in and through the week due to my horrendeous snackyitis and binge-fest on the weekend. Took me the whole week to get rid of the bloat. Let's blame it on PMS! TOM snuck up on me yesterday almost a week early, GRRRRRR! This week my goal will be to eat clean, stay positive (ask for help from 'my girls' when I need it) and exercise. That should get me some kind of loss next week I hope...I'm not doing to well on this challenge and I'm hanging on my the tips of my acrylic fingernails

Congrats Angie and Serina on your losses! Way to go on passing up the Colonel. I pass his place every evening on my walk and let me tell you those aromas get to me! Angie glad your weather's getting nicer. Congrats to everyone else on their efforts. We CAN do this! Have an awesome day.

grizzlyschick 03-08-2003 01:02 PM

Hi everyone

Well no loss for me this week:( TOM was only here until Tues. so I can't blame it on that. I was OP all week and actually did more at the gym than my usual routine, but nothing moved that darn scale! ARGH! My body seems to be doing an all or nothing thing now. I either have a big loss or no loss at all. Oh well at least I maintained. So that's good I guess. Congrats Angie and Serina:cp: you guys are doing so great! Well everyone hope you all have a great day. Take care. Di

Gennel 03-08-2003 04:04 PM

S**t happens , but dont give up!

I'll be back later on tonight ladies. I just wanted to tell you not to give up! There will be weeks when you just maintain and you want to pull your hair out! But your body is still burning calories and will adjust itself and the pounds will slowly come off.
A lot of people quit if they see they are maintaining for 1-2 straight months. I would get frustrated but I'm so glad I didnt totally quit!

Congrats to all your losers!
be back later!

Gen

choci 03-08-2003 09:21 PM

I'm back to where I started, 262. But, I really think that last week's loss was kind of "faux" due to drinking and not much eating the day before... and like I said, I had TOM this week. It's been soooo rough. I had another bad eating day. I don't know what's going on with me!

But I won't give up, I promise. Going back to how things used to be is not an option. It's just not. So I will trudge through the hard times and at the very least keep up the exercise (almost an hour's worth of Pilates this morning plus at least another hour's worth of housecleaning...).

Congrats to the losers this week. And to the others, well, HANG IN THERE!

Love you all...

Amy

Here goes......Drumroll . My Mother inlaw and brother inlaw will be leaving Monday. I willmiss her! I mean it too! She is a tremendous help!! I havent had to even go near the washing machine since she's been here! The only thing Im looking forward to is cooking my lite meals again.

I've got to get back the will power. It hasn't even been 2 weeks yet, and I feel like I'm losing it!
Gen-thanks for posting the goals. Maybe that will get my rear in gear.
I'm trying to hang in there! I have to get moving!
Jen

melekalikimaka 03-09-2003 05:17 PM

JLoubug...you can do it! You can you can you can. We all go through periods of 'why bother?' but just ride it out. You'll get back on the wagon--it'll never be that far off. You're still posting which means you still care. Don't give up hope because it IS worth it. Come on board, we're still cheering you on. A friend on another board made me a harness made from a bungee cord so if I fell off the wagon, it would snap me right back on  . Wasn't that nice of her? I think it's working too. Let's do it!
