Default I agree

I agree with everyone else! No one that I'm aware of should be on a 700 calorie diet! 1000 calories is the lowest I've heard of, and that's only if you are extremely close to your goal weight. 1200 calories is what I've always been told for the "average" woman to lose weight, but if you have a lot to lose then it can be closer to 2000 calories.

I would definitely get a second opinion!

I, too, wouldbe concerned about so few calories... enough has been addressed about your doctor but you also asked for other help...

everyone has an opinion... so I am just going to tell you what has helped me and I started out around where you are....

1. eliminate pasta, rice, bread, potatoes and sugar.
2. Aim for about 1500 calories.
3. Weigh your food, measure your food and track it online with a site like www.livestrong.com.
4. When you are hungry or have the munchies drink a Crystal Light mix-In. I use the individual packets and mix it with 16.9 ounces of water.
5. Go to the gym and get on a treadmill, elliptical or bicycle (or all three). 6 days a week and burn at least 500 calories a day. You can do!
6. Lift some weights on your big muscles... don't worry about little ones right now. If you can't get a trainer buy a Fitness magazine they usually have some good exercises to start with. Or find a book at the library.

This is how I started.

Hi malamaza,
Instead of making long jump start with small steps.
Set mini goals first, achieve them and set higher goals then. You will get motivated and it will be helpful for you in hitting your target of losing weight.
Few tips I want to share with you.
Break your meals in 6 small meals,
Drink 8/10 glass of water daily, Watermelon and grapefruit are great source of water and best for losing weight,
Eat fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet,
Chew your meal well before swallowing,
Don't take meals 20 minutes before sleeping,
Besides dieting start any physical work.

Please get another doctor's opinion, 700-800 calories a day is too low and it will leave you hungry and miserable and even more so when you add exercise into your day. It seems as though your doctor is looking for an extreme weight loss in a small amount of time, however, I doubt the low calorie intake would help your weight loss in the long term. I think this type of advice is careless on your doctors part because you are more likely to give up on losing weight than you would with a more appropriate diet.
My doctor advised me to consume between 1200-1500 calories a day but usually I eat around 1350 a day. Good luck to you.
