I do everything others will tell you not to do. However, I eat between 1,200 & 1,500 calories a day and stay pretty well on target. I drink plenty of water & I work out at least 5 hours a week. I typically eat 3 meals a day with no snacks. I was brought up in the "3 square meals" generation and have really never varied. My schedule is too sporadic with meetings to be able to "schedule" snacks. Trust me, eating only 3 meals isn't what made me fat. It was all the fast food, junk food, alcohol, etc. that did that!
I usually eat frozen meals at work. I might add a piece of fruit, salad or yogurt to the meal, but a lot of times it's just the frozen meal. It's a nice convenience food & I tend to work through lunch. I don't eat a big breakfast---usually a Luna bar and cup of 2% milk. Lunch a frozen meal w/or w/o something added. On most days my breakfast & lunch equal around 600-700 calories.
My largest meal is in the evening. My dinners range from 600 - 900 cals. I cook my evening meals and these are much more balanced. Last night I seared an Ahi Tuna steak (280 cals because I seared it in olive oil) added it to a HUGE bed of fresh spinach (40 cals) with Parmesean Cheese (22 cals), a cup of fresh raspberries (65 cals), & Greek yogurt (120 cals). That all adds up to a little over 500 cals. Later I was hungry so I ate a banana before bed. Yesterday's total calories was 1335.
I do agree that frozen dinners do have a lot of sodium, but I cook with very little added salt.
