This week I just feel like I can't do it. I've got too far to go and failed at it too many times. Really, I've failed at it so many many times before. I'm really struggling to get back a little hope. It's not just this but a couple aspects of my life that I am just paralized with right now. All I can think is how hopeless it is to even try.
It is not hopeless. I am basically where you are at, and have basically the same goal. We cannot look at the 60 lbs. You just need to take it one day at a time. Just focus on today, and what your plan is to keep yourself on track, as well as happy. Whether or not your are working out or changing your eating habbits, time will pass, and next year will come. Just focus on today. As for the other things in your life, *Hug*. You CAN do this.
As JessandEmma2011 said, don't look at the 60 pounds ... you don't look at the rest of your life as one project (as in I've got to wake up another 18,000 times ... I have to do another 20,000 loads of dishes ... I have to do another 40,000 loads of laundry) - NOPE! Just take it one meal or one hour at a time. You are not a failure nor a success by your weight loss. We say success stories, but that's in one aspect of your life, not your WHOLE life. Don't be so hard on yourself.
YOU CAN DO THIS!! Be strong, be positive and don't look for obstacles, look for small things you can do to make a difference and help yourself succeed.
As someone posted on here a while ago:
Being overweight is hard
Losing weight is hard
Maintaining is hard
You have to pick your "hard" ...
A couple days ago, I had seen someone had written that they tell themselves every day "The only way I am going to fail is if I give up." I think that is pretty powerful and have been saying it to myself whenever I am having a weak moment.

Cherrypie: You can do this! You have already lost 10 pounds which is awesome -- it sounds like you are overwhelmed with different things going on in your life. Just think that weight loss is something that helps you get healthy and happier in turn. Don't give up.

Aimeebell: Thanks for posting this. I was letting my loss of only 1 pound this week get me down, and now I actually feel better and posted that saying up by my desk at work.
Don't think "only 1 pound" of weight loss isn't very much. Take a lb of butter and lay them out end to end . . . that's a lotta butter you have melted off your body . . you've already lost 10 lbs, that's 40 sticks of butter . . . OMG girl, that's a lotta, lotta butter . . .
A friend of mine who was losing weight would get frustrated and someone told her about the butter . . . then when she lost "only 1 pound" it was 4 sticks of butter and this help her keep things in perspective.
Maybe it will work for you . . . see my signature . . . I lose sticks of butter . . . melting them away
OH, and I LOVE the you can't fail unless you stop trying . . . SO TRUE!!!!!

THAT is such an AWESOME point. I think I will have to write it down in my journal...

Wowwww that was awesome I am so going to remember that next time all the weight I have to lose seems impossible. So would doing 20,000 loads of dishes!!
I like Winston Churchill -- "If you are going through ****... keep going!"
Don't STOP!
If you try, you might not succeed right away or as fast as you want, but you have hope that you will eventually get there. What have your learned from past attempts? Use it, and try to find the path.
But not trying at all? THAT is failure. Magic isn't going to happen out of the sky to get you out. You have to get you out. And you CAN.
I know it's hard. (An understatement some days.) I know it hurts. I know it seems hopeless. You're doing the right thing by reaching out to your community.
When we feel like this it seems the whole world is conspiring against us. But it's not. Our brains have a funny way of dealing with our current thoughts and the circumstances that trigger them. There's a physiological reason why positive thinking is better than negative thinking. Our brains focus on what we give them (think). And, if what we think is that everything is hopeless and impossible (I've been there a million times over), then that's what our brains will give us in return.
It's not about the food. It's about our lives.
When I get like this I really have to become aware of everything that's going on in my life and why I feel the way I do. Sometimes it's just because I'm tired and have way too much going on. Sometimes it's because I'm in a negative tail-spin that I can't seem to break.
When I turn it around and think about all the good I've done, all the little successes I've had, and what I can be in the future (this is hard, I won't kid you), I begin to move forward. I just went through something similar over the holidays, which can be a tough time for many people.
Hold your head up. Please always, always remember that your weight (or anyone's, for that matter) is not a reflection of who you are at your core.
I don't know you, but I suspect that you're a pretty neat person with some pretty special gifts. Move that up to the top of your thinking cap before you make any decisions about giving up. And, try to move that precious body of yours everyday. It will help, I guarantee it.
And, this is something that I find very helpful, something that someone alluded to earlier in this thread: tomorrow, the next day, next month, and next year will be here regardless of what you do today. Ask yourself who and where you want to be when that time comes.
