If you need to set a time to stop eating, you should make sure its a realistic time for your lifestyle. When I was staying up until midnight regularly, I would stop eating at 10pm. If I had stopped eating at 6pm instead, I would be way way too hungry to sleep. Set a time that is closer to your bedtime or save some calories for a night-time snack.
And there are a ton of things you can pack. Veggies thrown into a plastic baggie. Almonds. String cheese. Pieces of lunch meat.
