Default Just Found out I'm a "Nervous" Eater

So someone came into my office today and started asking me business related on the spot questions. I keep a lil jar of candy on my desk for people to help themselves to. As I realized I got nervous and felt overwhelmed, I found myself reaching for some candy in that jar and eating it! I never eat the candy from the jar! And then looking back, I realize that I eat unneccessary things when I'm nervous.

So to round it all up, I eat when I'm bored, depressed, worried, mad and nervous. Does anyone else find themselves doing that too? I now officially know what being an "Emotional Eater" is. *sigh*

Isn't it cool when we recognize these types of things. Now...you can plan for it.

I eat when I'm happy/excited...I think it's a weird emotion to cause me to eat since I read most people eat when they are sad, etc...

Yup... when I get anxious or bored I have the urge to eat. But, when I'm stressed or upset I get the opposite effect and I completely lose my appetite.

Oh yeah! I've caught myself reaching for snacks during or after difficult phone calls. Absolutely stressed-related eating in my case!

Yes, I definitely relate to this. I've been pretty good about avoiding emotional eating through most of my current diet, but I did some last weekend (back on plan now, thankfully).

As gottadoit said, I guess the good news is that it's easier to avoid doing something once you recognize it.
