Default Making a game of it-And a question

Last year I successfully dropped from 16 stone 4 lb to 13 stone 10 lb. Alas Christmas came and the diet was shelved. My weight had gradually lifted again and on July 27th I decided enough was enough at 15 stone 2 lb.

Resentfully (simply because I was merely losing weight I had already lost) I began an exercise and diet program to take me back to where I was before and lower.

I have always had an insane interest in statistics. So to make it fun I have recorded daily figures on a spreadsheet. Calories eaten, exercise calories burnt, trends and daily weigh ins. The whole thing has become quite fun. The net result (with a target of 2lb a week) is indeed a loss of 12lb in 6 weeks thus far.

It is interesting that although (under the 3500 calories to a llb rule) I should only be losing about 1.2lb a week I am losing the said 2lb. I assume this may be because I walk for about an hour a day but then I normally factor that into exercise.

The one thing I have learnt is that although the scales will often tell me one thing I tend to have a general idea from the trends as to what my true weight is-eventually it always settles back.

I cant understand though why I have lost 2lb in the last 4 days when I am not at all dehydrated and have done little exercise and eaten close to the daily suggested calorie intake. Any ideas anyone? I'm glad to lose the 2lb but the trend suggests I should not have done so!

As well as the question I have posed I would encourage others in their programs to make use of any mad traits you have. The thing that has made this work for me, so far anyway, is my indulgence in statistical matters. And if anyone is mad enough to like this idea, and thinks it will help, let me know. I'm happy to share information.

All the best everyone

One thing I've learned is my body doesn't care what has been calculated lol.

Sounds like whatever you are doing is working- your body must be at full speed right now- don't stop the exercise or you might slow back down again.

Oh definately. Its horses for courses. I see you have shed a considerable amount of weight. I take much encouragement from seeing stats like that.
