Default How I hate you scale

Yesterday was the first time I weighed in. It was only 5 days since I started, but I have been trying to stay away from the scale. It always causes trouble.

Well, I was down to 204. Whoot! So what did I go and do?

Yup. I weighed in today (I'm not an addict).

206.

Logically, mind you, I know this must be water weight.

On the emotional squishy inside: It burns.

I hate you scale. And I'm not changing my current weight from 204.

That is all. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

I'm sorry it's so frustrating!! I know the scale is a fantastic tool to keep us heading in the right direction, but it can really be demoralizing to be eating properly and exercising and see that gain--even though we intellectually KNOW that bodies have these ups and downs.

Hang in there. If you're on plan and doing what you need to do, it's just a number that will soon change. HUGS!!!

Yeah, the scale is not a tool that I use often at all anymore. We just don't get along and I just refuse to let it rule me and my moods

I can't help but weight myself several times a day, it is frustrating when those lower numbers don't stick, but i don't get discouraged when I see a 2-3 lb fluctuation

Default Don't fear the scale...

or hate it. It's just an inanimate object that measures your body on a particular day at a particular time. IT hasn't and can't do anything to you. You can't let it determine your mood. One needs to keep to their food plan regardless of what it tells you. Provided of course your food plan is not up to tweaking.

I avoided the scale for 15 + years and that didn't turn out so well. It was a way of denial and escapism. Facing the scale now, every morning is just part of my routine. It's just what I do. It's part of my health-minded way of life.

Some days it makes no sense to me, but I have learned to live with and deal with the "quirkiness" shall we say, of it. When we're doing the "right" thing there is nothing to fear about it. You learn to know your *patterns* and that's pretty valuable.

And ya know what, when we're doing the "wrong" thing, nothing to fear either. Perhaps that will shake us up and make us do - the "right" thing.

The scale is just one of my tools I use to keep me on track and to help me be aware of what I do - and don't do and what I should do and shouldn't do and the results that will follow. It's a reminder that the food choices I make have consequences

This is my body we're talking about and I want to know what's going on with it. No more ducking from it and giving away a HUGE, convenient way of checking in on what's going on with my body. Is it perfect? Nope. So be it. Neither am I.

I can only do this by keeping a good sense of humor and making myself laugh. Or killing a co-worker.

Me and my old scale go waaaaay back. We have a close love-hate relationship.

I'd like to think it understands.

It is actually older than I am . It's an old, stress "o-matic" scale. Dead on with the dr's new fangled scale (and if it is ever off, just a simple adjustment).

My boyfriends stupid scale, which I am pretty sure advertises to predict the future and rotate your tires, can show one gaining and losing 20 pounds every day.

But maybe it is just so sentsitive it is picking up weight gains/losses of everyone in a 3 block radius. ::shrugs::

170starting, you need to really be careful at your height 135 might be a little low. if you are just looking to be firmer, then maybe some weights? or toning exercises. You really look great in your avatar pic.

I just have to tell a story here. I told my husband about this today and he rolled his eyes and walked away...he just doesn't understand these things...lol (Of course this was right when we were done eating supper).

ANYWAY, this morning I was also up 2 pounds. I've been PERFECT all week. I've been trying to get down one more pound before the weekend. We are going to a couple different parties and I want to be under by a couple pounds so I can indulge a bit.

So for the last few days I've eating a ton (more) veggies (than usual). Our garden is doing great and we have produce running out our ears. (and other places...lol) You can eat a lot of veggies for not many calories..A LOT I tell you. Matter of fact you can hold about 2 pounds worth of it in your colon. Yep...after I weighed I had a cup of coffee...then there was rumbling and gurgling and then it HIT. To make a long story short I visited the bathroom 4 times within an hour. Just for $hits and giggles, () I got back on the scale....those 2 pounds GONE...heck, if the 2 cups of coffee I had during all of this didn't weigh at least a pound I'd be down 3...hehe

Anyway, those silly scales.
