Thumbs up This might encourage other long timers NOT at goal.

Ok when It first hit me, gee, i'm getting a little fluffy--I was getting more and more disappointed at the image in the mirror. I decided I didn't want to look like that or STAY looking like that. So I did what every dieter does. Exercise, and watching what I eat.

My problem is I tend to fizzle out when the scale doesn't drop like crazy. It maddens me. I slack off. Then I come back to it.

This time, i did slack off for 307 days. What does that mean? I didn't count calories, i didn't do traditional exercise daily. i was preparing to beat myself up with the pics i took after my little hiatus--and instead i was shocked. i thought surely i would have lost all the definition i worked to get.

Of course I gained like 10 lbs in those 307 days--that is 2 months shy of a year. What amazes me though. I didn't gain 10 lbs of fat. I mean I didn't just revert back to the body i had before I started. Not even close. Which shows there is hope--even for backsliders!

here is a link of how far i have come. I haven't lost alot of weight, but every pound really makes a difference on my body for some reason.

here are the pics: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/mini...-all-back.html

I am more motivated then EVER. Because I see the hard work i put in exercise especially REALLY does LAST! And if I keep that up, and I keep watching what I eat, i will be down to my goal weight eventually!

You Can Do It! That's Great that your exercising 'Stayed With You'! It's hard to stay focused! Our Whole Society it seems is geared to 'Let's Eat'! Seeing the inspirational testimonies to weight loss on here is very Motivating! I've gotten 25 lbs. off & know I can do 10-20 more! Good Luck!

thanks, ll. Yeah you are right. Our society is geared to let's eat, but also DROP THE WEIGHT FAST! i KNOW i for one was getting discouraged that if you didn't drop it fast, and wasn't perfect--it will never last.

Good job on your success too! I am more motivated to do those lunges and sit ups, knowing that even after a year, the results will be evident!

good for you, Jen! you're right, I can see that difference. and those effects you mention are true for othe aspects of health as well -- like blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.

I get moments of discouragement from my mess ups. but you really are right about changes being more lasting (in habits too).

I think that you did very good only gaining 10 pounds during that slack off time. It seems like you were in maintance mode. In the past, every time I gave up I gained everything I lost plus more. Developing patience is definitely helping me this time.

time2, any time in the past, if I slacked off--i would gain back, plus more. So yeah maintenance can be a reality too.

sarah, i just might be fortunate for that, every lb makes a difference. it is really motivating when you are a slow loser.

You carry your weight really well. You look like you weigh a lot less than you do. Congratulations getting back on track!
