Yup, count me in the pear group! I have a pair of jeans from Old Navy that I like to laugh at. When I put them on, the legs are baggy, the waist is WAY too big but my hips are snug in them. I feel like when I lose another inch or two in my hips, they will just fall off. Thier pants are the worst for us pear shapes (or hourglasses)!

Fashion Bug has the same pants system as Lane Bryant and expands it into the smaller sizes, too. They have three different "fits" to choose from. Straight, curvy and a more dramatic "hipster." Surprisingly, I fit into the curvy ones. Here in OH, the pants are about $20 to $30. Pretty reasonable. I like the pants at Ann Taylor, too. I am looking forward to getting back into thier petite sizes (where I belong!).

I have large hips, but I am also blessed with lower back fat/lovehandles. Which means I have a big, wide pancake butt! I hate it! The lovehandles help with the gapping at the waistband though, so I can thankfully fit into old navy pants at least.

That area has been slowly shrinking with my weight loss, but I have a feeling it is going to fight me to the bitter end. My strategy has been targeting my glutes with strength training so that at least I have a little more of a protrusion than a pancake

My hips are the last part of me to shrink, it's annoying! When I was at my lowest weight (140), I could wear a size 6/7 pant. At around 165lbs, the first time I lost weight, I was a size 12/14. This time around at 165 I am a size 10! I attribute the smaller hip size this time around to all the weight training I have done.
I think your hips will get smaller if you strength train, and also if you kept losing beyond 160lbs.

Amazing news on my end! I have REALLY big hips and a smallish waist -- HOWEVER, I have been shrinking more (comparatively) in my hips and thighs (also big) for the last 15 pounds or so. I think the most recent pounds have ALL come off my hips and thighs and I have no idea why.

Ah the dreaded hips. While they are attractive and give us that hourglass shape, they are also our worst nightmare!!! (At least for me anyways) I have always had HUGE hips, and always feel "Wide" in everything I put on. I hope one day I can lose more of my hips but who knows because I have very prominent hip bones. They say if your a pear your lower body is the last to go so maybe im getting close to saying goodbye to these hips!!! Meg your my hero!
