I don't consider Subway in the same category as McD's etc. Subway is much fresher and doesn't kill you with calories. Plus you can add all the vegetables you want.

I agree, I'd say it is one of the best places if not THE best, for eating out. I try to have it as much as I can instead of anywhere else.
I'd say the primary places I go are Subway or McD's if I do go anywhere. I have the calorie content memorized for both.

I dunno if I agree with that. The meat at subway is just as highly processed. I'll eat subway, I'm not knocking it, and I might even choose it first if there is 3 little fast foods all in a row. But I dont kid myself that it is really much better for me. If I had to rank fast food, I'd probably put Burgerville first, but I know that it is regional.
I usually get the Grilled SW salad at McD's no dressing no chips which makes it <300 calories. Which isnt actually enough for me for a meal - I usually aim for closer to 400. either I eat something later or snag a few fries from my kids or whatever I am in the mood for (somedays I leave the chips on because it is a PITA to get them to leave them off).
As to the O.P. I dont think the fast food is the problem just the urge to eat crap when a day goes bad. Not a criticism....been there done that many times. But if you want to ask what is the risky potentially sabotaging behavior, it's more in that arena than "fast food"
I had a McDonald's egg mcmuffin on Monday - no cheese so 250 and was fine in terms of my calories. But I ended up putting on a lot of water weight. I am usually up a couple of pounds on Mondays anyway, because I exercise more intensely on the weekends and have a temp weight gain from that. With the egg mcmuffin, I was up 4 lbs on Tuesday morning. But by Wed morning (and after drinking a TON of water on Tuesday), 3.5 lb was gone and this morning, the other .5 and then some. Aside from that, I've been eating everything on plan (not that it was off plan, but not something I normally eat)
So depending on when you weigh in, it's very possible you could see a water weight gain, but it should not be a lasting thing.

Oh trust me, I know. That is the root of a bigger problem. Usually I do not give in, but there is a big story to what happened. Just a generally crappy day But yes.
I am aware it isn't a good thing, but since it's done and I have learned from it, I just wanted to get advice if something like that would screw me up for the rest of the week.
I am a college student. And lately I've been traveling a lot for school functions and hunting for my next university. So, of course, there has been a lot of opportunities for fast food.
With the exception of today (900 calorie banquet luncheon, 400 calorie hotel breakfast, and THEN a 600 calorie dinner at Applebees) I've stayed right on plan. Yes, the food is high in sodium and fat, but calories are calories as far as I am concerned. I wouldn't recommend eating fast food more than once a week, and I would recommend doing your research extensively beforehand...but, no. Life happens, and sometimes you just have to eat what you are offered.
This won't hurt your weight loss long term which is the important part, but I agree with what another said about subway being processed as the rest, and McDonalds has it's own problems, the PETA website put an end to them for me.
I think staying away is the best option.Or if you have to go, get a salad that will hold you over until you get to a safer place to eat. I wouldn't worry about what you did the last 2 days though!

It's okay to sidestep every once in a while... And you've admitted that it wasn't something that normally happened. What's done is done, don't sweat it. But if I were you, I'd have some non-perishable healthy snacks on hand in case it ever happens again. (Plain granola bars, nuts, things like that.) And if you know you're going to be out late one day, take the time to cut up some carrots.
For me, fast food is a thing of the past with the exception of pizza, Chinese takeout and the chicken nugget combo meal off the McDonald's menu. I try to limit the amount of pizza and Chinese takeout we eat... Not because of my waistline, but because of my budget. That stuff is hella expensive and it adds up! I can usually afford pizza and Chinese takeout once a month a piece, but most of the time I don't even bother. I LOVE cooking and when I do it, I ALWAYS have at LEAST one vegetable with it. (Pasta hardly ever gets cooked these days unless it's buried under a ton of lean ground beef and spaghetti sauce!)
Just my $0.02 Good luck with staying on plan... I know I haven't!
Wow with 5 kids in the house we are always grabbing some type of fast food. I have a book that I keep all the calorie counts in and I highlight the ones that are ok for me (or within a normal calorie range).
Mcdonalds - my fav is the apple walnut salad, it comes with yogurt 210 cal
Taco Bell - Fresco chicken taco 140 Fresco steak taco 160
Tropical Smoothie - Yum they have so many approved things there
Subway - all the low fat subs
Backyard Burger - Hawiann Chick sand w/baked potato (sour cream no butter)
Anyway I find if I am always prepared then there will not be an issue. It also helps my kids see you can make good choices and still have a busy schedule.
I'm sadly a fast food junkie. However, subs are my favourite! With that said though- I do eat the veggie subs 12". Just mustard as my dressing. I eat a sub about two times a week and a kids regular hamburger meal maybe once per week, and harvey's veggie burger hmmmm..... I am terrible. I usually have just one regular can of pop a day as well. Or every other day, but never more than that. All my other fulid intake is always water. I ususally have ww toast or a bran muffin for breakfast and lots of veggies for supper.
And I'm not saying that because of health reasons! Think of your poor wallet! If you absolutely MUST have yourself some McDonalds, at least opt for a double cheese burger. Then you're only paying $1 AND it's 100 calories less than the Big Mac.
Nothing at MickyD's costs a $1 in Canada, except for a cup of coffee (and I am not certain of that either). Definitely not a sandwich.
