How often do you weigh yourself?

  • I live in a truck, so I can only weigh myself periodically, and not on any kind of consitant basis. I use to use the truck stop restroom scales (why do they put them in the women's room and not the mens?) They cost a quarter and for the most part were pretty accurate, although one weighed me in at 1oo pound loss in one week! lol.

Then we bought a simple cheap analogue scale and I carry that in when we have a shower day. Then I can strip down and weigh and I take a photo because I can't see that far without glasses! lol.

We will be moving into an apartment in March, and we have a fancy digital scale that I will probably use as my official weight, but I will only be at the apartment every 5 weeks. That's too long for me to go and not know if I am on track, so the other scale will still come with me on shower days. I can weight about every week, but it's not always on the same day of the week.

In many ways, I am glad I can't be a slave to the scale anymore. I spend more time with how I feel now than I ever did in the past.
  • For most of my weightloss so far (about 10 months) I kept a thorough log of my weight each day. Color coded my gains and losses and everything. But recently I've been trying weighing in only on Sundays, and I think it's an improvement for me. I don't stress over the numbers as much.
  • I do once a week, every sunday morning. It keeps me on track over the weekend and gears me up to stay on plan during the week. I can't weigh myself more often than that because I'm way too easily discouraged. Once a week works for me, plus I spend the weekend looking forward to seeing what's on the scale, and thus I'm more likely to stay focused.
  • Last time I lost the weight, I only weighed at the Doc's until I got in the 230's, and then I weighed at the gym, about twice a week. I am taking the same tack this time, but it works for me because I am at one doctor's or another's at least once a month, and usually twice.

Other than that, I keep track of my measurements instead, usually checking once a week.
  • Usually every morning. I get up before my shower, use the bathroom if needed, then just before I jump into the shower, I step onto the scale. I use the same time and same routine to try and stay consistent. I also try to stand in the same place on the scale... not sure if that makes a difference, but I do it anyway.
  • Lucky, where you stand makes a big difference! My scale at home (one of the reasons I only weigh at the doc's) will weigh you as much as 8 lbs. off just because you are standing a little to one side. It's even a digi, which is not supposed to have those problems.
  • I weigh in every day.I just cant help myself I need to know everyday if I've lost or gained.
  • I weigh in everyday. It helps me stay on plan. I get irritated with the non movement or the upward movement when it stays around for too long, but in general I know what to expect on my official w/i days which are Mondays. I take measurments once a month. Right now I am more focused on my workouts than anything. The scale bumps up and down too much, but if I can get in a good sweat filled workout every day (or most days) then I know I am doing well.
  • Scale
I weigh myself 3 times a week probably not a good thing.
  • Weigh Daily. Record once a week.

I'm too curious to not know how I'm doing and I've learned to deal well with the inevitable ups and downs caused by salt, tom, carbs etc.
