Hi all!
I have to admit--I've been pretty spoiled this summer. My plan was to teach piano part-time for now so I'd have time to gain the volunteer experience I need to get into graduate school. My last volunteer position (at a local school working with kids who had social/emotional issues) ended in June. I wanted to start volunteering on the crisis lines at the local Sexual Assault Support Center right after that but it turned out that the next training session didn't start until September. Whew! All that said to say... I'm supposed to be attending my first session there in a couple of weeks. I'll have to undergo about 40 hours of training before I'm able to actually DO anything. It should prove really interesting. Our training includes talking with doctors, nurses, lawyers, police officers, etc...
But for now... freedom!
Everything is peachy keen on the diet front--other than the fact that I'm a scale-oholic! I'm SOOO glad I started dieting this spring! I'm almost half-way to goal!
Something that's been bothering me though... I hate it when ppl say "Don't call it a diet--you're changing your eating habits permanently and that's not a diet!" I, personally, disagree. If that's what worked for them, great! But me, I'M DIETING. I'm going to be eating differently when I'm MAINTAINING then right now when I'm CLEARLY dieting. My problem is just with people that say to someone who's struggling to diet "Well, your problem is that diets don't work. You need to change your LIFESTYLE." They sound so know-it-all-y.

I subsribe to the belief of "To Each Their Own" and if what you're doing works, and is healthy, then ALL THE POWER TO YOU!
Just had to get that out!
Thin... Good job kicking the fat-shoulder-sitting-devil-of-temptation's ***!!! Did that last sentence make sense?!
Thin & Baylee... Yikes! Those registration fees are high! There ARE other groups out there (isn't there one called TOPS) that are less expensive but I guess people just have to figure out what works for them. Paying a couple of hundred bucks to WW is NOTHING if it gives you the motivation and tools you need to lose weight! That's priceless!
Lucky... Hope you're feeling better. {{{HUG}}} I remember being lonely and it's no fun!
Michelle... I'm SO happy you posted! Hope all goes well with school. I know what you mean about books being expensive. I paid about $1000 Cdn a year on them when I was in university. That's A LOT for students who live on macaroni and cheese and share houses with 5 other people! Glad you're getting help this time around.
Mary... Sounds like you didn't have such a great day! Hope you feel better soon. Feel free to vent here!
Tina... Your "Tony Room" reminds me of those teenagers 10-15 years ago who had the "New Kids" plastered over all their walls!

I'll admit it though-Tony's definitely cuter!
J-Ann... How did the appointment with the vet go? I always get so stressed out when something is wrong with my Moses (my cat) so I FEEL your concern!
Susie... Congrats on the lost inches! You're doing great!
Well all, I've think I've babbled on enough for now! See everyone tomorrow!
