I love yogurt and granola, apples and peanut butter, beef jerky, string cheese and hard boiled eggs!
And I so didn't even know that about fruit roll ups! I love them! (Although your bf and I might have something in common...I've been known to eat a whole box of rollups or gushers at one time! )
I like snacking on plain cheerios. I can have two cups 200 cals and they fill me up. Then there is gogurt yogurt 70 cals, they're portable, they hit the spot and it keeps me from craving anything sweet.
For me, and we're all different of course, but for me, I can't spend my calories on rice cakes and fruit roll ups for a couple of different reasons. I need FILLING power from my food. Those rice cakes don't satisfy me at all, I feel as if I haven't eaten and I have a hard time stopping at a moderate amount, since they don't fill me up. The fruit roll ups - way too high in sugar for me, which would make my blood sugar drop in a short time and again not filling at all - I need something that sticks with me for a bit.
Some of my favorite snacks many people wouldn't think of as snack food, but more as a mini meal.

Agree completely.
My best snacks are a sliced apple with an ounce of sliced cheese, or a boiled egg and an orange.
The advantages of these snacks for me include: They give me the feeling that I ate something, which soft-mushy snacks like yogurt and cottage cheese do not do for me. They (except for the cheese) are self-limiting little portion-controlled packages, unlike cereal or nuts, for example. And they include the big three macronutrients - fat, protein, and fiber - that I need in my snacks to avoid feeling hungry.
Ahhh you've all reminded me of the awesome cheddar/apple combo! I also like snacks that fill me up, but find that sometimes yogurt does that too. If I have something with sugars (natural or not) in it I like to pair it with a fat, because that's what a nutritionist recommended.
Ex:
-Apple with cheese/peanut butter
-12 oz. latte with a handful pecans (milk = sugar)
Other than that I'm a fan of string cheese, grape tomatoes, carrots with hummus, and other things I can't think of right now since I'm freshly back in the saddle!
Since I want to lose some weight, my favorite snacks are the ones that are low on calories and yet tasty. I've been using Bistro MD diet plan and they deliver diet food and Snacks to my door. From the snacks they deliver, some of my favorites are : Sour Cream & Onion Soy, Wild Berry Shake, Lemon Garlic protein chips, Chocolate Mini Cheesecake & Chili Nacho protein chips.
I like a little lowfat vanilla yogurt with some frozen blueberries mixed in. When the blueberries are frozen, it takes a while to eat them so I have to really slow down. I think it makes it more enjoyable.
I didn't think to mention these but I just split one with DH... they're AWESOME. I've had the peanut butter one, the brownie one (my fav) and the almond fudge one, but they have tons of options. Check it out:
If I want to cheat, I have these little candies I found at Trader Joe's called "Ginger Chews." They have 5 grams of sugar and 20 calories a piece and they're nice and spicy. If I have a too-heavy meal I chew one afterward to help my tummy and to cut down on the imminent sugar cravings.
Eggs...eggs...more eggs. Hardboiled, scrambled with shredded cheese, up on a breakfast steak or a bed of veggies...
