I don't put foods off limits because those foods are inherently bad. I put foods off limits because I know that they trigger that binge-y feeling in me.

That's just how it is with me.

I'm happy enough not to eat any M&Ms but if I eat one, I'm going to be unhappy, twitching and bothered until I've
finished the whole bag.

I can keep bingey food in my house and never touch it if I have decided that it's not something I eat. But if I had chocolate in my house and got to ask myself "is this worth it..." that WOULD NOT WORK for me. I tried that strategy for years, and in the moment, for me, it was ALWAYS WORTH IT.

People really differ about this, and I see lots of people here at 3FC who can eat small portions of treats, and that works great for them. So you just have to figure out what kind of person YOU are.

I've cut out white bread, baked goods, ice cream and, candy, crackers, salty snacks like pretzels, and nuts.

I'll eat rice and pasta, but only in MEASURED servings.

I make exceptions for special desserts if 1) I'm in a social setting and 2) I've PLANNED to include one serving of dessert. My eating struggles always occur when I'm alone, so eating cake at a party doesn't seem to trigger me in the same way.
