My official goal weight is 174lbs/12 stone 6 which is the top of the healthy weight range for my height. It was suggested that I set that goal by my previous class leader. Once I got there I ended up dropping around 10-14lb further because of a combination of factors (adding extra points back slowly, eventually stopping counting and then initially being extra-careful while I did that).

This time, after a few years of regaining, I know that I want to get back to 174. I'm undecided about whether I want to go significanty lower this time or whether I want to concentrate on maintaining just a couple of pounds under. I may find it settles down into a certain range anyway. I'll have to wait and see.

I picked 135 because it's in the healthy weight range of my BMI. Once I hit that goal, I will evaluate and see If I want to go lower.

<sigh>

I have no idea what my goal is. I did the recommended site, and came out as a medium frame, 5"2" - apparently I should not weight above 130 lbs. I remember weighing 135 - 150lbs, and I wore between a size 6 and size 8 pants. At 135, I did start looking a bit "drawn", my facial structure stands out in stark relief, my eyes sink. I can see where my rib cage ends quite clearly at 190lbs at 5'2". I wear a 34 bra band - I won't mention the cup, but it's over DD... So, I'm curvy, very curvy, and I think fairly dense. At 170lbs, 20lbs down, I expect to be in a size 10 misses. If I have lost my tummy pooch, my arms are toned and I feel and look good, I may stop. I think 150lbs would be the lowest I'd head for. I like my curves, I want to keep them, and I don't understand how I can weigh so much and be the same size, both in pants and pictures, as lighter women, but I don't think I'll ever make 130lbs a goal for myself. At 135lbs, I looked like I sucked lemons for breakfast.

This whole topic has been really interesting. I still have lots of thinking to do.

I chose 140ish (meaning 135-140 range) because this was what I weighed before I started packing on the pounds, before I had issues with my weight. I think I was like a size 6-8 at this weight and that is perfect for me...not too skinny.

According to my BMI my heathly weight is between 115 and 140, well truth is 140 I know I look Fabulous and it's easier to stay at a weight of 140 then to go under that. So that's pretty much how I choose my goal weight.

When I started out I thought my starting weight was 248, and chose 140 as a goal - principally because it seemed to be a nice number to me. Back then I thought I was 5'10", and when I looked up the healthy weight range for that height I settled on 153 - bang in the middle.

Then I discovered that a) my starting weight was 249, and that I'm 5'9". My adjusted height means that the "bang in the middle value" of the healthy weight range is now 150 - so in order to make it a round 100lb to lose, I picked 149

I haven't decided on mine yet. Currently I'm aiming for 190 because it's a realistic number that I can wrap my head around. I haven't been under 200 since sometime in High School, 22 years ago. My trainer and I both agree that 175 is likely ideal for my body type. I'll focus on that once I see how my body is at 190.

I don't pay any attention to the charts. I go with the accurate BMI measurements my trainer does.

Good luck to everyone....no matter what your goal is!

idk really..my goal weight is still considered "overweight" once i get to my goal weight, i will decide if i want to keep going..but 150 is the lowest i will go..anything lower, i think i wont look right...or will be harder for me to maintain.i also think i hold my weight well enough.

i want to get to a weight where i can actually see my shape without any rolls or protruding tummy.
