I weigh daily, but if I were weighing weekly ...

I wouldn't do anything that would make the scale temporarily lower. The resulting result wouldn't feel good like a "real" result would.

I *would* make sure not to do anything to make it temporarily higher - like eating out, training very hard, not getting enough sleep. I might put my legs up for 20 minutes to help make sure I'm not retaining fluid.

But, I've found that I can't always time those things just right. Sometimes the salt effect takes a few days to show up, sometimes it's the next day, same with other things that make me retain or drop water.

I dont recommend changing your normal habits. I know some WW leaders actually discourage working out the day before a weigh in because you "may gain some water weight" So. So this week is higher and next week is a loss. And in the meantime I have one more workout in the bank.

I also think that paying attention can be helpful. If you ALWAYS dehydrate, always dont work out, always go extra low sodium, etc. then you dont really know how those behaviors affect you. And then if you DO have a week where one of those things is unavoidable you may freak for the wrong reasons. (was it the wedding cake or merely the salt in the wedding food)

i.e. some people on here are VERY susceptible to sodium water retention. I am not. I can eat a salt shaker and not retain that much water from it. On the other hand, give me a glass of red wine and I will retain enough to float the ark.

MTA: When in loss mode, I weigh daily and count my lowest weight as my true weight or two weeks from my last "official weight" whichever. So I dont know which day will be my official weigh in day until I weigh. It could be 3 days in a row and then not again for 10 days.

I weight in multiple times a day, actually... every time I go to the bathroom. It only takes a second! I guess I'm now comfortable enough in knowing that what I'm doing is working well enough, and all the fluctuations are motivating as well as intriguing... when I go up two pounds I can recognize that it's because I ate a lb of carrots while snacking and drank a ton of water, and that it'll all come out soon enough

That way, I don't stress so much about a higher scale number... it's just part of the bathroom-going routine. My self-recognized weight is an average of my weigh-ins for the last couple of days.

I weigh in weekly, and I do tend to eat a little lighter the day before just because I'm hoping so much for a good weigh in. LOL. We have a Tuesday weigh-in day, so I've started "Soup Mondays" at our house. I make soup for dinner every Monday night. It's been fun, actually, because I've tried many different soup recipes.

I make sure I stick to the plan completely the day before the weigh in date. I mark my new weight on a sheet of paper every week and I like to see a nice difference.
