Question Someone who has been here, please help.

Ok, so I fell into the rut of lowering my calories to the bare minimum..and I have stalled my weight loss.

Has anyone else done this.

I work out. I do resistance training, and I am fairly active.

I found an old log from 2006 where I was eating 1535-1880 cs day very variably. I was losing steadily.

What will happen, if I go from 1200 cs/day to this amount. Will I gain first then lose, will I gain rapidly...I want to up the calories, but I am scared.

Please share your experience with me. I'm not talking about just for a couple of days. I mean if you have kept your calories low consistently and then stalled out, and then upped them...what happened???

Hi again! I'll bet you're tired of hearing from me.

Raise your calories slowly. Go up to 1300 for a week or two, then up to 1400, etc., keeping your exercise the same. Don't panic and try to increase your exercise at the same time.

You can expect *some* weight gain at first because if your metabolism has slowed down, it is now so efficient it will just love being able to store something ahead... But don't worry. Stay with the plan. You may also see a sudden *drop* in weight as you increase calories. I've seen this happen with a few different posters over the years.

Either way, make your plan and stick to it--don't suddenly switch again in three days. Ride it out for at least a couple weeks and see what happens.

I can't say it any better than what Jay said up there.

Slow increases. Give it time to show results before changing. Only one major change at a time. All good advice.

Good luck.

I pretty much HAVE to mix it up to get results. I focused on keeping it low consistently for the first few months, and nada. As soon as I started mixing higher and lower days, the scale finally moved.
