You're not alone. Some people use how their clothes are fitting to see if they're losing any weight. But, as someone stated on this site, once you get into plus size clothing you need to lose more weight before your size changes so it can be a little discouraging using that method.
A day after I've eaten way over my calories, I hate that *&^% scale. But in order to see where you are, it's good to use it as a tool. If you're really, really anti-scale, (which is fine!), maybe you can try measuring yourself & count your inches lost instead of your weight. It's good to find SOMETHING that you can use to track your progress. And the scale is just the easiest. Good luck, and let us know how it all comes out.
im afraid of the scale every week, lol. im convinced that im going to jump on it and see 220 again, even though i know theres no way to gain 43 lb in a week. the bottom line is that some weeks you lose, some weeks you gain, and some weeks you stay the same. as long as theres a downward trend, it doesnt matter. seeing your weight doesnt change your size, you're not suddenly fatter because you KNOW how much you weigh.
get on there, prepare for the worst, and you might be pleasantly surprised!
Get on that scale and note the number. Tell yourself you'll never see it again and begin your plan. It might not show the next day or the day after that, but once you commit to your new self and your plan, it will drop. Also, take pictures of yourself now! When you're at goal, you'll wish you did so you had something to compare to.
Good luck! Don't let the number influence your self-worth. Regardless of what the scale says, you are still you. Losing 10 or 100 lbs shouldn't change that.
I bought a scale yesterday for the very first time. I never had one in my house growing up and I've avoided it for years and years.
I was really scared, but I wanted the scale as a tool to see if what I was doing was working. I don't like the number it reads now, but I know I'll like seeing it go down. And surprisingly, I also like knowing that number for the first time in a long time.
You don't have to get on if you really don't want to, but sometimes it's a good thing to conquer your fears.

I guess I am in the minority here, I enjoy weighing myself. I actually look forward to it.
I also enjoy weighing myself... It's motivation every morning and shows you how the day before affected you... If I like what I see I know I did something right
Before my weight loss journey I knew my starting weight, and did not weigh again for 6 weeks, out of fear... the last thing I needed was grim news! When I finally climbed on the scale I was so happy with the my progress that I was actually looking forward to weighing in the next week! (I made a deal to weigh in and track it 1x a week... I now weigh in several times a week but only Sundays count).
As time goes on I bet you'll grow less fearful of the dreaded scale. Don't give it too much power over you! It may disappointing to see the #'s go up now and then... but it beats being in the dark. You're doing fantastic!
