Default A "silly" success story

This is VERY silly but I needed somewhere to share it... I was at the PNE (a large exhibition fair with rides and such) today and decided to go on the "drop zone" ride - where you wear a harness and get pulled up and then dropped.

A year ago you couldn't have talked me onto that ride in a million years - I would have been worried about not fitting into the harness or being too heavy for the equipment. Now, going on the ride was no problem. It felt great not to have to worry about that stuff this time.

I don't care HOW skinny I may eventually become, there's NO WAY I could EVER get on that thing...I just knooooooooow it will breaaaaaaaaaaaaaak.

So, congrats on 1) being BRAVE enough to get on that devil ride in the first place and 2)feeling GREAT about yourself and your accomplishment!

That is great!!! I went to our local fair last year and was humiliated when I couldn't ride one ride with my husband. Also I tried to get on one ride in front of a lot of people and I couldn't fit. I was mortified. I guess I didn't realize how much weight I had gained. Cause I could ride it the year before.

I'm going to the PNE tomorrow, woohoo!

Last time I was on a roller coaster I was afraid I'd be too big... luckily I wasn't... but it was a tight fit. So I completely understand why you hesitated because of your weight before, and how much of an accomplishment it is to get over that fear, and have no problems what-so-ever! Congrats!!!

Maybe if I lose enough weight, I'll try something like that... maybe.

It's these kinds of "non scale victories" that can really hit home the progress we've made!! Not silly-- really awesome!!!

I agree with the above poster. You'd never get me on one of these type rides. But it sure as heck feel marvelous to not go on them because I don't WANT to, not because I CAN"T FIT, as it was in the past.

I can relate to you completely. And this is not silly at all. It's an incredible feeling! This is what it's all about. Quality and enjoyment of life. It's just the best. Congratulations!!!!!

congrats, you must feel great! I'm impressed just by you getting on the thing, even if I weighed 100 lbs, you couldn't get me on that!

Thanks you guys! This really is the best support forum I've every found.

I've been so tied to the scale in terms of measuring my progress that I hadn't thought about some of the other victories. This one felt REALLY great.

Rockinrobin is quite right - it's about quality and enjoyment of life and not having weight hold me back from what I want to do (even if that's an amusement park ride) is such a great feeling.
