I personally don't think 1500 calories is to low. I think for your weight it is probably a good place to be....but I'm just bias. I lost a lot of pounds eating a doctor recommended diet of 1200-1500 calories a day of nutrient rich food without ever experiencing a plateau.

My question is this...you went 1 week on plan without a loss so you threw in the towel and gave up for a week. At the end of the 2nd week then, what did you weigh? Did you lose, gain or stay the same? I'm really interested to know.

I'm glad to say I'm back at it today and trying to remind myself of all the other benefits that come with this lifestyle even when I don't see the scale budge.

I feel for you. I've lost barely a pound this whole week compared to 6 pounds the first week and a half. It is discouraging but then again I know I'm getting healthier if anything so I know I have to keep trucking along just for that.

It's a good idea to play with your calories, I might have to do that too but I'm going to wait another week first and see if I have still haven't lost more.

Best of luck!

You must have missed my question. I was wondering what your weight was at the end of this last week...(the week you gave up and ate off plan). Did you gain, lose, or stay the same again?

First of all muscle weighs more than fat and you HAVE to remember that. But building muscle helps to burn more fat. I'm having a very difficult time letting go of my indulgences and making excuses about not exercising but in the end no one loses out but me. So you just have to keep at it! And eating too few calories slows down your metabolism. Just make sure you eat lots of protein and veggies and make sure you still treat yourself with a fat free sweet every now and then.

That is an excellent point! Also, weighing yourself is the worst way to monitor the success of a diet. Fat calipers are by far the best way to monitor it, or even a measuring tape. Muscle adds more weight, but also burns more calories at rest. Not to mention water weight could also be a problem which is temporary.

Also, everyones caloric needs are different. You just have to trial and error it yourself to see what works best for you!

Hey I know I feel the same way when I am down. But I'm sure you will reach your goal if you continue to workout like you do now. I suggest you back up your exercise with a good diet program. I just started this diet program from BistroMD and it is working good so far. It is food prepared at the right proportion so I don't even have to think about how many calories I am consuming. The food taste great which make it that much easier. It was recommended by Dr. Phil so I gave it a shot.

SWITCH TO THE ANTI-DEPRESSANT CALLED "WELLBUTRIN"...

i was on lexapro and gained 25 pounds...went on wellbutrin and lost it all very easily in just a few months! it is one of the only A.D. without a side effect of weight gain. do some research online & ask your DR!
