Manatees, thanks for the rice suggestion. Actually my mom mentioned to me but added she had never tried it herself. So I didn't want to just go on that but now that you said you have tried it I wasn't so reluctant to try it. It did feel great on my back.
I have only been taking Tylenol when i feel a headache coming on. It seems even though I didn't hit my head that is what seems to hurt the most. My back is sore but not in pain. Thank goodness. kinarina |
Here are my pics!
Well I used my digital camera to take a picture of the actual picture I had developed! We had a blast andI have no regrets! I'm back OP and back in the Gym. So next week will be great :)
Here's a pic of the anniversary gift I recieved the day before my anniversary: http://a8.cpimg.com/image/A2/DB/1123...-021C01BE-.jpg Picture of hubby and me :) http://a7.cpimg.com/image/A1/DB/1123...-013B01C7-.jpg Well tomorrow is Weigh In so please do it tomorrow so I can get the chart up ASAP! Hi everyone
Hi everyone. Gennel I loved that dress! and those flowers- I'm so jealous:). Thank you everyone for the support. Today I did 35 minutes on the treadmill on the random program instead of the cardio. It adjusted itself as I walked. So it would adjust speed and incline. I also did the same with the bike. I put it on random and it adjusted the speed and the tension to keep my heart rate at target rate. I've been patting myself on the back, because I rode 10 miles on the bike in 25 minutes!:D WOO HOO for me! I am so motivated an it's thanks to all of you guys and your encouragement. Gennel seeing how well you did at the gym has been one of the things pushing me to succeed with this. Hoping for a good loss let you all know tomorrow. Can't wait to do weights on Monday. Trying to decide if I should make myself go tomorrow, or wait until monday like the trainer said. Take care and I'm crossing my fingers for big losses for all of us. Di

Weigh in
Good morning everyone. Well I lost 3 pounds this week. 2 before I started the gym and 1 since then. I had hoped for more, but I know my body will have to adjust to going to the gym and I may have to increase my calories a little, or at least change some of my food choices. Guess I'll have to give it a little time and see how my body reacts to the weight training, before making any drastic changes. Take care. Di:D

Hello, all!
Well, it's been another exciting week of weigh-ins for me. I'm able to report an additional 0.5 lbs weight lost, so my total since the start is 5.5 lbs, which makes me very happy. I've been up a few pounds some days and was down 2 pounds from here just yesterday, but I knew that was a fluke. Gennel, I think hubby appreciates all you've done! Grizzly... You go, girl! Congrats!!! Kina, glad you're feeling OK. Good luck to everyone on their weigh-ins! |
Good Morning! I am feeling great today and I am looking forward to OP day. I mean ALL day. TOM has an influence on my weigh in today...but I have good news.

Hi to everyone!
I haven't posted in a while and let me say I've found a direct correlation between staying OP and posting DAILY. It really is the support that I get from all of you and maybe the accountability that makes the difference. No loss to report this week, which isn't a bit surprising, but no gain, either. That surprises me a lot! I hit the DQ twice, last week. Walked only 1 day and overate at dinner 2 or 3 times. Also hit the snack box at work 3 days in a row. One day I was into it twice. Maybe I just needed the wake-up call. I'm fortunate the scale was kind. WTG Di! It sounds like you're really taking advantage of what the gym has to offer. I'm inspired by your committment. And Kina! Wow. I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I know what a scare that can be, but you still kept up on your excersize. I would have gone "Whew! Now I have an excuse!" As you can tell, I'm not totally committed to an excersize program. I'm glad you're all here. Even though I fell back this week, I don't feel defeated. I feel accepted and able to say, "O.K. I messed up, but I'm ready to get back on track." Thanks to all. Jen 238/226/140 - mini-goal 215 |
Hi Jen. I am glad to hear from you again. Yes I totally agree with you that posting daily keeps you honest about your food intake as well as your exercise. The times I don't like to come on site is when I know I haven't done my exercises. So that gets me motivated to do some sort of exercise then come to the site and post. I guess whatever it takes. No, I was surprised by myself as well, I didn't make the pain my excuse to lay in bed with a tub of popcorn watching movie after movie. Although I do make the excuse of mosquitos to not go out to the track. But I miss the track with unbelievable emptiness in my heart. When I pass by the track I say "Don't you worry I'll be there first chance I get." Crazy talk to the track. My husband thinks I am strange talking to the track.
But you have to find a way to get yourself motivated and find a way to turn on and off that craving of snacks switch. I know you can do it. TTYL. kinarina |
Hi All
I didn't lose or gain this week but I'm was not surprised. The local fair was this past week so I kind of splurged and I have been at the ball park all weekend. It is also PMS week so the chocolate craving have been bad. I need to start exercising this is very hard for me find the time to do. I did go for a walk with a friend of mine Friday night....I'm guessing 1 1/2 miles. We are going to try and walk each week. We would like to find a time when we could go with out the kids, but it doesn't look like we will be able. If we have to we will go to the high school track and walk and let the older kids play in the middle and push the baby in the stroller. Well good luck to everyone, I can't believe the 4 weeks are almost up. |
I'm posting yet another no loss/no gain. I guess I'm not on a diet, but the exercise is going well. (And thank goodness for that or I'd be gaining.)
Jen, I feel better knowing others get off track and still feel positive. There's alot of comfort in knowing that I am not alone!!! Kina, I didn't read too far back but what's with the frog?? I hope you are feeling better! Gennel, you are looking great!! I can't tell you enough how inspirational you are. What a great example of how results come with hard work and comittment! We'll see what next week brings....I'm thinking about a one day fast just to get a little cleaned out and ready for a fresh start. Oh, Gennel I wanted to ask how many calories do you consume per day on a high cal day and on a low cal day. How high is high and how low is low??? Keep up the good work everyone!! |

Real quick response about the frog.
I LIKE FROGS. I AM A FROG FREAK. I HAVE FROGS ALL OVER MY COMPUTER DESK. Call me nuts! Mom is visiting TTYL. kinarina |
Answer to Apple Blossom..
Appleblossom, I eat about 1,100 or 1,200 calories on my low days and about 17-20 fatgrams on those low days as well. Then the next day I'll have a higher calorie day which is not that high but higher in fat about 1,400-1,600 calories a day and 20-27 fatgrams on that day. I've done this mainly to break out of a mini plateau I was on a few weeks ago! It has worked great ever since. But for about a week now Ive been having about 1,300 calories a day and no more than 20 fatgrams a day. Sure I stick a chip in my mouth once in a while or a spoonful of icecream just to taste it lol. But nothing much after that. When I'm hungry at night I eat an apple or watermelon that I love .Eating high calorie and low calorie should be used for as long as you are getting results. Once you see your weight loss has slowed down then you should change back to your 1,200 calories a day,or a little bit higher.I just mainly focus on how much fat ,sugar or carbs something has.I love carbs and that's theonly thing I cant take out of my meals! Sorry! lol
Manatees and Appleblossom maintaining is something to be proud of as well! I know it sucks when you are not right around the corner to your goal. But really think about it for a minute. What are we going to do once we reach our goal weights??? We're not going out and splurge on pizzas, long island ice teas! lasagna,Mcd, chocolate! What we will do is eat the same and slowly add a few calories and make sure we work out often enough to burn off those extra calories. Once I reach 130 lbs I will be able to eat around 1,600 1,800 calories a day, just as long as I work out! I wont be terrified eating out , if I want ribs or lobster I can eat it but not everyday. Exercise is sooooo important . I cant say that enough lol. buh bye now :) Gen 194/143/130 |
Hello to Everyone.
I was on earlier for a quick show for my mom. I showed her your before and after photos Gennel. Now she is interested in getting one of those Monster elliptical machines. She asked me if you work. I told her I wasn't sure that you had never mentioned work that I noticed. Anyhow she was truly amazed at your achievement. She said you look younger than you did back in February on your before photo. And your dining room is pretty.
Appleblossom****I guess the frog does look a bit sick-huh? I like frogs ever since I was young to remember the phrase "you must kiss many frogs to find your prince". Something my grandma would always tell me after a heartbreak. So it stuck. I have a small collection of frogs that seem to grow. As a matter of fact DH just added one to my collection just yesterday. But yes, thank you, I am feeling so much better. I had started yoga the day of my fall and decided I would take it easy and hopefully the yoga would help me work out the kinks. It sure has I have not been stuck in the bed in pain at all. which is amazing as hard as I fell. I am a bit sore when i get up from a sitting position after being there for so long. But otherwise I am doing wonderful. Oh and don't get discouraged about your scale. I was getting frustrated with mine. So I had a long one on one talk with it and this morning it moved. In the right direction mind you! But honestly I think the yoga may have something to do with it. Maybe even just changing my routine could of had something to do with it also. But my point is keep at it. bye. Best of health to all of you. kinarina |
Hi Miata here. just wanted to report a l.6 lb loss. I am pleased...I wish it had been more but 1.6 is good. Will start the gym heavy duty this week, drink my water, journal my food and not go above points. Will stay on the high side because of the exercise. Don't want to go too low.
Kathy |
I just typed out a whole long thing and then my computer froze up and it was all lost arrrghhhh...My computer is acting up as you can tell by my last double post...
I just wanted Kina to know that my husband and I exchange frogs on occasions. He gave me a really ugly red plastic one for valentines once (he's such a romantic.....:p ) So thats why I was curious about your frog... Gennel, thanks for the calorie advice. I'm pretty sure the only way I'll meet my goal is to COUNT. I bought a big bag-o-lettuce today and I'm doing salads this week. The rest of the family has to fend for themselves! I told my husband that the dining room set was your anniversary present, not the flowers....:D Bye! |
Hi all! Glad to see you all are doing well. Sorry to be reporting so late but I finally managed to drop 1 pound!:D Gennel~You look great in that black number.Hope you had a wonderful time! I need to mow the lawn and some gardening. Check in later.

Hi, all.
DH and I are frog fans, too. We have a large (~4 foot) resin frog statue and a difeerent one even taller made of metal in our yard. We often get cards featuring frogs for each other on our anniversary. We were recently discussing why frogs are so cute... I thought it might in part be that their eyes, which are so prominent to see in water, have a big wide-eyed baby look to them. I'm still plugging away and the scale is still bouncing around but it bounced in the right direction this morning so I'm in a good mood. Gotta run, my puppy looks like it's walk time! |
Lnaii , Emaleyth and Miata1997...
Hey I just noticed that Lanaii,Emaleyth and Miata1997 Were not listed in the recent weigh in chart for 7/13! I must have not copied and pasted the entire list :( Sooooo sorry! I just edited the chart and added you 3 ladies on.If you've had any loss since the challenge PLEASE PM me so I can edit it. Miata1997 I just put your 1.6 lb loss on the chart YGG! I have 2.5 lbs to reach goal for this mini challenge.Hmm doubt if I can melt 2.5 lbs from this saturday to Saturday the 20th! But I will DO my very best to have some sort of loss this week!

Something to be proud of !
When I first started to eat healthier and exercise I first weighed myself and measured myself too. I wrote down my goal measurements. I still remember what my measurements were 12 yrs ago lol , so I wrote them down since my goal weight is the same weight Iwas 12 yrs ago! I went into more detail and totaled up about how many inches total I wanted to lose. It was 40 inches total. I thought "Oh man.....could I really do this?"
I measure the first week of every month and add up the total inches lost so far. I forgot to measure July6! So I measured yesterday and compared them to my goal measurements and saw that I had passed some of the goal measurements! I've lost 42 inches so far. I went from a 45 bust down to a 38! under my boobs was 40 inches! Now 33.5 inches! And my biggest happiness was from my waist! I cried when I first measured my waist and it was 40 inches in Feb! Yesterday my waist measured 30 inches! I had a lump in my throat this time again but not from sadness or dissappointment but from total shock and happiness!! lol The same goes for my hippy hips and thighs! Ouch! each thigh was 27 inches and now 22 inches ,arms and caves have gone down as well. My hubby saw me scribbling down something in my measurement journal. He saw I looked happy and nervous and asked what was going on this time lol. I showed him my first measurements and then showed him the recent measurement. ....Well now I got a lump in my throat again lol. He pulled me over to him and gave me the biggest hug and told me " You have no idea how proud I am of you" "I've witnessed your hard efforts and sacrifices for the last few months and they have paid off" Well I knew he was happy for me but had no idea ! I think the fact that he's never had anything negative to say about my weight. He's never told me that I HAVE to lose weight or else. If that was the case I would'nt have lost a single pound ever! Well I just had to say that. Focus on yourself, be selfish for once! Think of you, you, you! You deserve it! I stopped thinking of all the other reasons why I needed to do this"for my husband,so I can go out and not be embarressed anymore, so I can go to the beach with my kids,.....all those are not a good enough reasons to do this. When you put yourself as the main and only reason to do this then you will find yourself more and more determined to keep it off for ever. Well I wrote enough for today! ;) Gen 194/143/130 "If you want your dreams to come true, wake up" |
I'm an oldie. I have been at 219 lbs forever. Want to join your group with a target of 4 lbs. for the four weeks. Biggest failing is the evening slumps. I get down in the mouth and so does the food. Hope this goal setting helps. Wish me luck.

Hi Luckymom. I don't know if this will help but I have the same problem you have...snacking at night. Well what I did was put my scale in the kitchen. Thay way when I go over to the kitchen to grab a fattening snack I will think twice. If I do grab something it will be a healthy something. I also have a calendar magnetized to the backdoor. The calendar shows my progress for my exercise that I do daily and also shows my weigh in for the day. When i walk into my kitchen for a fattening snack I see the calendar and walk over to it. I see my losses and also my gains. Either way my choice usually ends up being a good one. I usually walk away with just a glass of ice water or yogurt or an apple.
Much luck to you. kinarina |
Welcome Luckymom1
Welcome Luckymom1 ! I think most of us can relate to the late night snacking and how difficult it is to switch that around with healthy latenight snacks. In fact that is one of the main reasons that got me to the point of " I've had enough and I will do something about this NOW!" My late night snacks shouldnt even be called snacks ! I was eating whatever was leftover from dinner, around 11 pm at night or later! I wont lie to you ,in the beginning it wont be so easy . Take out a piece of paper and write down what are your absolute favorite latenight snacks. I dont recommend that you switch chips for an apple. I think replace popcorn with popcorn. It might sound silly but this is what's worked for me ,it might work for you . I love burgers ,so instead of a regular beef burger I make a ground turkey burger on light wheat bun and add lettuce, tomatoes, onions and fatfree mayo,ketchup....the works! That burger has half the fat of a regular burger and you're not eating a tiny little burger either! lol
I like chips once in a while so now I buy the Baked Doritos that have 90 calories and 1 fatgram, they taste the same! OR the fatfree Lays chips (70 calories and 0 fat) Instead of buying the popcorn with lots of butter or cheese,Buy the fatfree popcorn and sprinkle Mollymcbutter Cheese flavored splirnkles or McButter buter sprinkles. The sprinkles melt into the popcorn and its totally fatfree! If you love icecream, yogurts, cakes ... You can buy these items with lowfat or no fat at all. Losing weight shouldnt be deprivation . That will only last a few weeks and we go nuts and end up at a Dunkin Donuts at midnight full of powdered sugar and glaze all over our mouth! lol And then wonder how we ended up binging on donuts in the middle of the night!? I havent personally driven to Dunkin Donuts on a crazed binge, but one night I seriously thought about it! lol That's when I decided that I had to replace regular icecream with lowfat or fatfree icecream. Oh! by the way our 4 wk challenge ends July 20 , if you'd like you can join for this last week, maybe a mini goal of 1 lbs . Our new challenge begins on 7/20 . So you are here right on time! again, Welcome! Gen 194/143/130 "If you want your dreams to come true, wake up" |
Where is everybody!
Hi!
Just checked in for the past two days and I dont see any new posts so here I go again posting! How has everyone done so far this week ? I did great except for one day. I made my famous gr. turkey chili and ate a little more of it than I should! I couldnt help it! ...well actually I could but the taste got to me and I had a little more on my plate. Well I hope the scale budges this saturday. I'm off to the Gym in a few minutes and hope to burn off that extra chili I had. lol If anyone's had a great week or a bad week, please post. Chances are we've all done that one day or another! I'll do my best to stay OP the rest of this week since Saturday is the last weigh in for this challenge! I CANT believe this challenge is almost over! Time flies lol. I will keep starting new challenges until I reach my goal weight. Then I will keep starting challenges , but my only goal will be to maintain my goal weight every 4 weeks. I want to feel accountable for maintaining also. Remember once you reach your destinations , the journey isnt over. We have to keep going. Take care folks, Gen 194/143/130 " If you want your dreams to come true, wake up" |
Here I am! I have been staying away from the thread for fear of jynxing the scale. This morning I weighed in on my scale and it said 204.5! Truly amazing...you know how I have been stuck on the hill all by myself for a while. So if I don't jynx it Saturday I will report a 2 lb loss! AAAAAAaaaarrrrrrgh! But I have to say I haven't been doing my yoga for the past few days. I think that slip off my back porch is kind of catching up to me finally. I have a kink in my neck that...ouch! I am still working out on my twister and my stepper. The least I could do.
Oh and I also started a knitted baby blanket for a friend. She is expecting her second baby and this time it will be a baby girl. I have to say this blanket it the prettiest one I have ever made. The good thing about the knitting is that it keeps me from making unwanted visits to the fridge. Maybe that is my secret key...? Actually I started the blanket a couple of days ago...maybe? I'll take the loss no matter the way it came off. It's cool with me. Hope every one is doing well. Yes I noticed as well, helllo ( echoooo echoooo) that nobody was posting. I bet you every body is working their butts off for Saturday. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! bye. kina |
When's the final weigh-in?
Hi everyone.
Well I'm just totally out-of-control. Is today the final weigh-in or Saturday or next week? I'm also totally out-of-touch-with-time! Anyway, my stuff from last week which sadly has continued into this week has done it's damage. I've gained 2 pounds. I just had a TWIX bar and decided it was about time to STOP THIS! I still weigh less than when I started, but if I keep this up... I could decide that since I had a Candy bar at 8:14 A.M., the whole day is wasted. That's my typical mentality. But no. It's 280 calories I didn't need, but that doesn't mean I have to consume 3000 more before the day is through, right? O.K. Starting over (again and as many times as I have to). As of right now, I'm back OP. Jen 238/228/140 |
hi everyone
Just thought I would say hi, I've been silent for awhile. I missed my last Sat. WW meeting, so I weighed in yesterday. I lost 3.5 lbs. I'm so excited! The last two weekends we've been camping, even though there was plenty of time to snack I stuck to the program. Now I've got to catch up on all these posts. :dizzy:
take care, billie |
Keep it going ladies!!!!!
Hey!
I'm so glad when I popped in and saw new posts besides my own! lol Kina you cant jinx it girl! You lost 2 lbs and you wont gain them in 2 days! Stay OP and you will do awesome this saturday! Jen, dont sweat too much the 2 lb gain. I used to think the same way ,if ate a small order of Mcd fries that my whole day of effort and sacrices went out the window. You are starting to think the right way girl. The 280 calories you ate are not going to make you gain a whole pound. Stop yourself at that Kitkat and get back on track just like you said. Msbillie, wow girl you are close to your goal girl!!! I'll edit the chart and add your 3.5 loss. THE FINAL WEIGH IN FOR THIS CHALLENGE IS SATURDAY 7/20. I have a good feeling about this week for myself. I've changed my routine a bit so this should help! :) Gen 194/143/130 |
Hi everyone
Hey everyone! Wow Kina and msbillie I hope I can report as much a loss as both of you!:D Jen- don't get discouraged I bet you did great the rest of the day! Gennel- what kinds of changes have you made in your routine? I'm sure you'll have a loss. As for me I've been going to the gym. The only exception was today, because the darn gym wasn't opened! I sat there for 45 minutes waiting this am and no one showed to open. So I had to walk on my break this am in the sweltering heat and humidity. The gym is supposed to be open tomorrow so thank God for that! I have only gotten to do weights one day this week. The trainer who is supposed to train me has a fight coming up (he's a boxer) and has kept having to cancel my sessions. I've been promised sessions next week though. So I've been sticking to my cardio which is 40 minutes treadmill and 20 minutes bike. I've beefed both of them up to make sure I'm getting the most I can out of my hour there. I can really tell a difference in the way I feel since I've been going. Thanks Gennel and everyone for encouraging me to join and go. Hopefully my next goal will come sooner than expected. Take care all. Di:lol:
|
I am so proud of Di. That is great news. You keep going to that gym whether it is open or not it shows your determination. my goodness you went on a closed day that is mucho determination!
Jen you need to not worry about the little mistakes you make. I look at my diet this way...if I go get a big mac meal...did i super size it? no...did i opt for the diet soda instead of my regular soda? no....did i eat all my fries and my kids fries? no....did i go for seconds on the soda? no....then I have a lot to be proud of. I enjoyed my meal and I don't feel a bit bad about the whole thing. I just know I have to get an extra sweat bead to come down my face when I am working out. Or I have to make sure to get the water I need for the day. I have to balance my life. The good, the bad, and the ugly. LOL old western. msbillie....you did a great job on your camping trip. keep it up. Gennel....when you're like me and just stuck on a hill not losing a thing even though I am working my butt off you really don't want to breath for fear that you will gain it all back just by inhaling. LOL But you are right. I guess Saturday will put aside my fears. Okay. I will talk to all of you later. kina |
Hey Di,changes in my routine
I've mixed my usual routine up a bit, I dont exercise at the same time everyday. Sometimes I take Sunday off instead of saturdays. Instead of eating hi/low every day I pick one day of the week to enjoy a totally nondiet meal. I switch machines at the Gym. Instead of using the elliptical machine with the arms and leg movements, I get on another machine which is very similiar to a stepper, but you can adjust it to where you work out your butt, hamstrings, quads or calves. I usually work on the hamstrings or my booty lol. With the treadmill the calories total about 700+calories per workout. But since those are estimates I would say probably around 500-600 calories a workout. Change things around when you see your body is in the same routine every week. Well I will tell you for sure how its worked when I weigh in this Saturday!
buh bye Gen 194/143/130 |
Kina & LuckyMom.... snacking at night is one of my problems... late afternoon being the other. To avoid after-dinner snacking I brush & floss my teeth and then I don't want to undo all that work. For the afternoon, I've found that having a salad ready to eat works for me.
Jen, way to go taking stock after the candy bar. We can eat the occaisional treat and still keep going as long as we don't sabotage ourselves. Recently, I ate two cookies but then went right back OP. Gennel, a 30 inch waist... I'm so jealous! YGG! I know I need to incorporate exercise, but I've mostly been dodging it. Some walking and some horseback riding but no firm commitment yet. I've been doing well with my eating this week. I'm looking forward to the weigh-in tomorrow! Good luck to everyone else! |
Hi everyone
:D Hi everyone. Well I had a 3lb loss for the week. Gennel I want to set a 10 lb goal for next time too ok. I think keeping my goal at 10 makes me work a lot harder to get there. Hope everyone had a loss for the week. Take care. Di

hello all!
Journaling has come to my rescue again. I have not done LOTS of exercise, but a fair amount but i have to say i have kept real close track of my "points" of food. I am DOWN 2# this week!!! thanks all! thinlizzie |
Well, I'm down one more pound this week! Woohoo! That's a total of 6.5, and exceeds my goal of 5 lbs. Most importantly, I finally got started losing weight seriously after months of dithering. I only have another 25 lbs or so to go, but I could just never get going.
For my next challenge, I'm afraid I will be setting a modest goal of only 2 pounds. I will be on vacation a large part of this upcoming challenge, and I've already cashed in on the initial spurt that comes with starting a program. Good luck to everyone else on the weigh-ins!!! |

:D WOO HOO ThinLizzie! Great job on the 2 lb loss. I find that journaling helps me a great deal too. Both with a food and exercise journal that I have and a regular journal I also keep. I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one who finds journaling beneficial in this weight loss journey. I miss your inspirational quotes! I hope you have a wonderful week. Di

Final Weigh in
Hi everyone.
I got up this morning and forgot to weigh in..So I quick ran upstairs for my final weigh in. I didn't think I would have a lose because I can't seem to find time to do anyting, but to my surprise I had a 2 pound lose:D I didn't reach my goal of 8 pounds but I did lose 5. In the last 2 challenges I have lost 15 pounds so I'm not feeling bad at all. I'm feeling very pround of myself:smug: Good luck to everyone and I hope we have another challenge. I'm just going to keep reminding myself slow and stead wins the race. |

Hi everyone. On my way out the door. This was the first chance I had to get the computer away from DH. He lives on the computer on his days off. So my good news is that I have a 2 lb loss. I am too excited. I will shoot for 6 on the next challenge.
Talk to you later. kinarina |
