OMG! Gennel you must be driving you husband up the wall. Isn't so strange for you to behave this way...it's like have gym, exercise withdrawals. So funny but I bet before you started this life journey you would never had imagined you to feel this way about getting in your exercise or something to get your energy out. Well that is good to crave something healthy for a change. I know I feel the same way if I don't get my routine in for the day.
I hope everyone is doing well. bye. kinarina |
Kinarina
Hi Kina- thanks so much for your response. My dad goes in the afternoon and I would be going at 5 am before work. I really think I'm going to try to work some things out with him. I want to be more comfortable with who I am becoming first as Gen suggested yesterday, I need to feel comfortable in my own skin. As for saying I love you. Thank you. I love you guys too. Honestly all of you have helped me so much to keep going. Knowing I have to be responsible to you all at the end of the week keeps my mind and my mouth in check. The support I get here is wonderful and it means so much to me. Again thank you for caring.
Gennel- I can't wait to go through exercise withdrawal! See how dedicated you are! I'm crossing my fingers that you have a loss this week. I hope everyone else is doing wonderful. Take care. Di:) |
Hey all! I'm so excited. I got up this morning and actually went for a 1.5 mile walk. That's not the really great part though. I realized that the only clean pants I had were still in the washer soaking wet. I figured I'd pull out a pair that are a little tight, but sometimes in a pinch I wear them with really, really, loose shirt so I can pretend no one sees the roll where they're buttoned. I put them on and thought they were the wrong ones! They actually fit perfectly!

:D Woo Hoo! Way to go with the walk and those smaller pants. I'm so jealous!

I start tomorrow!
I guess my sadness drove my husband crazy and he told me to go and join the Gym to get it over with! lol Yippeeeee!!! I joined today and will start tomorrow morning! I'm NOT looking forward to my weigh in this saturday :( I havent exercised and I have TOM now! The gym of course was trying to talk me into having a personal trainer..NOT! Sorry but I dont need anyone telling or should I say screaming at me telling me how far I can go lol.
I am deffinately looking forward to next week's weigh though lol. I will push myself this week and will go as many days as I can! Jen, that's great about the jeans! Dont you just love it!? Gen 194/147/130 |
Back in the Gym!
Well my exercise withdrawls are gone! I still cant believe I actually could have missed doing any exercise!!! I did'nt have to be there at 5:30 AM ! Thank God! lol Now since I'm a member I can take my girls to the childcare center while I workout. I started at 10:20 AM on the treadmill ,walking 3.6 MPH. Just did 35 minutes. Then over to " The Monster" Elliptical machine/s for 50 minutes! OMG I forgot how brutal this thing was! My heartrate up to 173 beats per minute! Now I'm not scared of weigh in on saturday lol even though I didnt work out for 4days I still get a few days workout until saturday! I stayed mostly OP when I didnt exercise and ate low calories. The Gym is giving me a "starter pack" free...yeah right I know Ipaid for that somewhere lol. Protein bars variety pack, pack of shake cans, and some supplements. I'll see how those taste and let ya folks know.
How's everyone doing so far this week? Since TOM is almost gone, my crazy sweet cravings have gone also! I dont know what it is but I HAVE to have either salty chips or something sweet to calm me down when I get TOM! I just buy the very lowfat chips and fatfree/sugarfree sweets now. My sister who had the gastric bypass surgery is doing well and still on liquids, now has added purreed stuff. She's lost 20 lbs in two weeks. By the time she goes back to work She will have lost 30-40 lbs! I dont envy her though! Its a quick fix but its a tremendous sacrifice to let doctors do what they did to her stomach and intestines. Have a safe July 4th! Gen 194/147/130 |
Hi everyone
I just wanted to say hello and say I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I'm looking forward to weigh in tomorrow and hope everyone has a loss:) good luck everybody. Di
|
Weigh In (reminder!)
Just a little reminder that tomorrow is weigh in day .Like no one knew that lol. Send me a little message tomorrow and let me know how you did.
How was everyone's 4th of July? Well we stayed home. First time we didnt go out and buy $100-$200 worth of fireworks! We stayed home and watched from our front yard lol. I cooked dinner by 6 pm and at that moment my husband walks in with large packs of chicken wings and pork steaks! AHHH!!!!! I quicklyseasoned them but I didnt BBQ anything! Istuck to my dinner of gr turkey chili w 1 cup of brown rice and side salad. I got on the scale today and I was pleasantly surprised! I lost 2.5 lbs!!!!!!! The only thing I can think of is that I changed my routine this week with no exercise and was eating low cal for 4 days . Then went back to Gym and ate higher cal. Anyway whatever it was it worked! Gen 194/144.5/ 130 |
Hi everyone. Well I am reporting in my weight at this time because I won't be home all weekend. I have to say sadly I gained 1 lb. Who could blame me 2 birthday parties in one week. So a 1 lb is really remarkable considering the facts. So anyway have a wonderful weekend.
Bye. Kinarina |
Hi everyone
Well this week was very busy for me. I already have a physical job, but this week since the holiday was here and so many people were out I was doing both my job and a fellow co workers job. Needless to say I was very busy:lol: Any way all that extra activity and tons of water I drank must have done the trick, because I lost 5 pounds. So now I'm at 266. Hope I can make it out of the 260's by the end of July. I have a family BBQ today I have to attend, so I'm planning on trying to stay away from the food and socialize instead. Wish my luck. Kina- sorry about the 1 lb gain, maybe it will be gone by the end of the weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Hope you you have a great weekend. To everyone else good luck today:) Di

1 lb more lost
Strange, I thought I had posted early this morning, but maybe I never actually pressed the button. At any rate, I am happy to report another pound lost, for a total of 5 lbs (which puts me at goal! yippeee!). I've been OP all week, but I have fluctuated a great deal this week, and was up 2 lbs earlier and down 2 pounds yesterday, but the official weigh-in is down 1 pound.
|
Hi Everyone
Sorry I haven't reported in lately but its been a crazy couple of weeks. I lost 2 pounds last week and somehow another pound this week. My husband I just spent the last hour or so cleaning the garage and I made a few trips up and down the stairs doing laundry so I think I got my workout in today. Good luck to everyone else |
YAHOO!
I've lost another 3 pounds. I'm so excited. I feel like I'm really on my way except for one thing. My X just stopped by and as he drove away, he yelled, "Oh. I left a chocolate cake on the counter for you guys" I'm eating a piece as I type. The rest is going to my daughter and her friends. It's not that good, anyway. Kind of dry. Uh...yeah, that's right. I have to wash it down with diet Pepsi! Now that's disgusting!
Jen 238/226/140 |
Back so soon. I was on another thread where they were talking about BMIs. I decided I'm making another mini-goal. When I get to 215, I'll have moved from the Obese II category to the Obese I category based on my BMI. That's something. Anyway. Back to my housework and yardwork.
Jen 238/226/215(140) |
Hi, no loss to report this week. At least I'm not gaining, but I'm questioning my committment. I've been feeling pretty low lately. I went shopping with a friend yesterday and tried on a shirt which I couldn't even get on because my arms are too fat. blah. I've had a head ache for about a week now and I've been cose to tears a few time too. I just have to turn it around next week. Just 2 pounds less would really help me out and pull me out of this funk that I'm in. Corgrats to all the loosers this week!
|
Appleblossom...
I just read your post and when I'm feeling like that is when TOM is due or just got over it. Try changing your routine. Remember to drink lots and lots of water, fruits and veggies too! I'm addicted to watermelon now lol. I find it does wonders when TOM is due, it really helps me get rid of tons of water I was retaining! I know you want to see that scale move every week, I feel the same way. But dont be so hard on yourself. Your body is still getting used to your new eating habits.
I wanted to say congrats to all of you who sent me a message with this week's weigh in results. I was so happy when I checked this thread and saw I had so many PM's! I just edited the chart . I'm so happy with how everyone is doing. I'm going to go back to my first thread and see how many pounds were lost total and add this total so far! Thinlizzie I was so glad to hear from you again! Now I realize that you've had family over and I know it's hard to get online when you have guests! Gen 194/144.5 /130 "If you want your dreams to come true, wake up" |
You guys WONT Believe this!!!!!!!
First of all I went back and just noticed that this is our third challenge! Before I tell you guys anything else I have to tell you that I am sooooooooo proud of the results for these 3 challenges!
I went back to the first challenge and added up the total pounds lost by the group and it totalled 62.2 pounds! Then the second challenge it totalled 60.2 pounds! And so far on the second week of this challenge we have all lost a total of 31.5 pounds! So add all of that and we've lost a total of 153.9 POUNDS!!!!! Losing pound by pound seems to go so slowly but once we can look back at all the old posts we can actually see just how much work we've all done and how much those little pounds add up big time! I have to repeat it again ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THREE POUNDS!!!!! I would go and buy myself a little something but the DH sent me this afternoon to see how much a nice haircut, base color and full head of highlights would cost! Well I had all that done today and I'm feeling like a new woman! ROFL. Hubby loves it and so do I so I guess that convinces me that $110 was worth it! I was happy when I weighed myself yesterday but now after adding up all of our pounds together I am more than happy. I think I'm hysterical! Have a good Sunday tomorrow! Hey All! No loss here this week... just maintaining. But my walking is going pretty well :) I'm going to bump it up a few notches this week and do a few veggie/fruit days and see if that helps.
Great job on everyone's challenges!!!! I can't believe we've lost a whole person already!!!! Here's to an on-track week for all!!! Erin |
Hi...Welll the july 4th caught up with me...I gained 1 lb. I am so disguisted..but I learned something...I can not fudge on this food plan. I mean I can not go off eating everything I want one day, and then think I am doing ok just casue I do ok the rest. I prob don't do that good on the rest of the days. I am prob lying to myself!!! but no more..I will do it.
bye for now Kathy |
Can I join y'all?
Hey Gennel!
I can't believe you went down to the 140's!!!! Man!! You're doing FABULOUS! What is your secret girl? I think I weighed less than you when you started.. and I sort of plateaued/put my efforts on hold/gained a few pounds.. BUT NOW I'M BACK! Hello everyone!! I look forward to getting to know you all! I'm trying to give myself a reasonable amount of time to get to my goal (one year from now) so I can go on a nice long vacation with my hubby.. since I didn't get to do that this year. We will go to California and visit the beaches and Disneyland, and maybe a few fancy restaurants... Gosh, I'm the biggest dreamer. A baby sort of, but I know that it keeps me going. It's been hard for me because I've been moving around so much. I'd really like some stability in my life... not to mention I'm still getting over a foot injury from chasing my husband a few weeks ago... OUCH... I miss my workout tapes and eating well. I think I'm being somewhat of a positive influence on my husband. He's trying to lose some weight too and I always applaud him when he stays OP. Well, when is your next challenge so I can join you??? I can't wait!! Gennel, I am so proud of you! Words can't describe it! You're amazing... God bless you all!! Bye bye for now. |
Gracenote!!!! OMG!
Girl! You have no idea the times I've asked around for you! I missed you so much from your first threads!I wish I had a secret but I dont. I hope you know that the reason I've stuck to this for these many months was from all the inspiration I got from you!!!I started this Feb ,the first two months I was losing like 13 lbs,12 lbs...then Ive slowed down to like 8-9 lbs a month now.Once I got to the 150's I decided it was time to join a Gym.I do 30 min treadmill and 45 min-60 min on the Elliptical machine. That's more than enough for me! lol We still have two whole weeks left in the challenge which ends 7/20. If you want you can set a mini goal 2-3 lbs by that date. we weigh in every saturday,PM me and let me know if you lost, maintained or gained...that's it.This is the third challenge and so far we've lost 153.9 lbs! I know you can do this girl. Now about your injured ankle/foot? Is it still pretty bad? If you cant walk then maybe try a stationary bike if you have one,for a few min a day. You know how to eat right so I dont gotta say anything about that! I've still been eating high calories and low calories, I just vary everyday. This week I ate low cal the whole week almost since I missed a few days of exercise. I cant tell you how glad I am to hear from you again!!!!

back from vacay
Hi there. Hope everybody is fine. Vacation was great for my soul but not for my body! Last week I meant to put down for a two pound loss but alas I gained it back while I was gone! Oh well, atleast I didn't go over to bad considering all the stuff I ate.(Restaurants and two birthday parties)Yikes.
Looks like I may see a four pound loss for this challenge instead of six but thats okay. It's better than nothing. Have a fantastic day.:D ladyslipper |
Hello girls,
I'm back, head down in shame!! Not really but I thought it sounded good...:) Ok I'm back too, I will set a mini goal of 2-4 lbs.... Hubby has been on vacation and I have been PMSing....food hasn't been that great, but the exercising has been good... every day biking and 3 times/wk intense weight training... I feel the difference when I train with more intensity but I haven't lost any weight....argh.... Oh well, lets try this again... Lana.... |
Welcome back!
Welcome back Lanaii! The sooner we get back on the wagon the quicker we get to our destinations!
Your goal seems very reasonable to me! Keep it up :) Gen 194/144.5/130 |
Hi everyone
Hi the group mail hasn't been showing up in my inbox. I thought everyone just hadn't posted since last week. Glad I came on the site to see!:o I start the gym tomorrow morning. I have to go sign the paper work and then I plan to work out. Wish me luck! I plan to start out on the treadmill and go from there. I'll be up at 4:30 am to get there by 5 when it opens. I'm a little nervous. I had planned to wait until I was closer to 200 but if I don't start now I never will right. So tomorrow night I'll let you all know how I did. Gennel I had a question. Right now I'm getting 1200 calories a day. Rarely more. Do you think I should up it or just see how it goes with this? I do plan to make my lunch more substantial. Right now I only have 150 calories at lunch time. No fat wheat bread 1 slice (that's all I have that 1 slice)= 45cal., lowfat lunch meat=30 cals for 3 slices and an apple. I only have a half hour for lunch so I make it something light. I just don't want to make the weight loss stop, because I'm not taking in enough. Let me know what you think. Take care everyone. Di

Grizzly..1,200 cal up or down?
Hey Di,
It's been my experience when I have stayed around 1,200 calories a day almost everyday....you slowly start to plateau. My metabolism slowed down to save energy, so it surived just fine with 1,200 calories a day. It drove me nuts! In the beginning it was great I was losing at least 2-3 lbs a week. But that came to an end! Then I varied my calories but mainly I varied my fatgrams. One day I would have 25-28 fatgrams in a day and the next I had like 15-18 fatgrams. This has kept me at a steady weightloss, not much but its steady 1- 2.5 lbs a week. How long have you been eating 1,200 calories a day, more or less?? At your current weight I think its like 1,400-1,600 calories a day. If I eat everything lowfat 1,600 calories is way too much food ! lol Today for example my lunch was 240 calories( 2 fatfree hotdogs,2slice of lightwheat bread 90 calories, ,relish,mustard,ketchup30 cal, fatfree nacho 30 calories. That really fills me up a lot!! lol. If you would see me eating that you would thinkg" OMG , this girl thinks she's dieting???" It's not how much you eat really, its what you eat. Of course if I was eating a regular pizza slice I would only have one after I've patted it down with a dozen napkins to soak up the grease! lol Good luck at the Gym! Gen 194/ 144.5 /130 |
Hi Everyone. Well I went to Wal Mart and made a fast stop in the exercise equipment area. I showed my husband the Elliptical Monster and he told me to put it on layaway. It was only $149 and some change. I didn't put it on layaways because then I would be so depressed because I would have to wait for it to be paid off. But I was too excited to know my husband was supportive about it. I told him about your success Gennel. I let him know that you lost your weight so quickly and if I could get down to 150 I would be more willing to wear the slinky sleep outfits he is always pointing at. Silly boy.
But I wanted to ask do those machines need to be plugged in? I can't wait. I hope I get it before my family's weight challenge ends in September. Talk to you later. Bye. Kinarina |
My gym experience
:) Hi everyone. 1st day at the gym was fabulous:D I worked with a personal trainer who set me up on a cardio workout for this week. This meant 25 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the recumbent lifecycle bike. I loved it! It was a workout and boy was I sweating, but when I saw how many calories I was burning I was in Heaven! Next week I will be doing the cardio pumped up a notch and the trainer is adding weights to the program. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to join. I thought I'd be embarrassed, but there was only 6 other people there and they were all to busy with their own programs to worry about me. The trainer said he was impressed at how much I did this morning especially since I haven't done exercise like that in a long time.
Gennel- I added a few more calories at lunch. I talked to someone at work who used to be a trainer and he told me to add carbohydrates and protein at lunch to give me energy to keep going. He also said just to not take it over board on my intake. So I'm thinking maybe that's a good idea. I don't want to plateu. I've been there once and it sucked so I'm going to try to keep myself going. Thanks again for the advice. Take care. Di |
Hi Di
Great job at the gym!!!!!!! I'm glad you like it. If you keep going in you might make a new friend and that really helps the time fly. When I would go to the gym I always tried to have a good book to read or go with someone so I had someone to talk to. I like riding the bike and reading it would make time fly by. Tomorrow I'm taking my kids to the fair. Ugh fair food, I am going to try and stay away from the funnel cakes. Good luck to everyone at weigh in |
Bad News
Well I am reporting in bad news. I fell down the back porch steps today. The steps were slippery from all the rain and my feet just went up from underneath me. It was horrible. I have never fallen in my life. I hope I don't feel any worse tomorrow. I feel bad right now. I just hope it doesn't get worse. I went over to mom's and walked on her treadmill at a steady pace. Then I got onto her bicycle and rode on that for a few minutes. Then went over to her stair climber for a few minutes. I figure if I just do something without over doing it the pain won't be so bad and I will get better quicker. I don't know. I am just praying I don't feel bad tomorrow. It's my head that has been hurting. I didn't hit my head but I jerked it pretty hard. My back is aching but not as bad as it looked when I fell. Ouch.
Well becareful around the slippery spots people they are a killer. Bye. Kinarina:( |
Kina- I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. Consider taking some anti-inflamatory pain killer like moltrin which might not only help the pain but by reducing swelling keep any additional damage to a minimum. Also, try some ice packs (bags of frozen peas are actually ideal as you can mold them to any shape). Unless you are sure it's just bumps and bruises it might be a good idea to see a doctor, especially since your neck/back was involved. It's amazing that in the face of that pain you still went off and did exercise.
The scale has not been a good friend of mine this week so far, so I'm not excited about tomorrow's weigh-in. But I'm focusing on the goal of making sure that I get back down to goal weight by the end of next week. |
Hi Kina
you might want to try this for also...Our local hopital makes up Rice socks for mothers in labor to help with back labor. I have made my own and love it. I took long sock that lost its partner and you fill it with a small box of rice and tie the end shut. you then heat it up in the microwave for a couple minutes and you have an instand heat pad that you can mold around you. It works great to lay on or wrap around a stiff neck. It will hold its heat for quite a while. I usually get mine a little warm so I wrap a small towel around it until it cools some and then take the towel off and use it. Hope you feel better soon Heidi |
Thanks. I will give it a try. I just finished my yoga. I took it easy. I am not going to give up on the easy exercise because I don't want the aching to make me stiff and feel worse. The yoga is very moderate and doesn't give me jolts. So I think I will benefit from the yoga. I am a little aching but I think I would have been worse had I just laid in bed yesterday. If I let this get me down it will be hard to get back into the swing of things. At the same time my kiddos will be back in school soon. My plan was to spend as much time possible and my college gym. So I have to be better by then.
TTYL. kinarina |
Hi everyone
Kina- I'm sorry to hear about your fall, hope you're not as sore now.
Manattes- thanks for the advice. Maybe eventually I will find a workout buddy. I watched the news at the gym this morning so that made time go a little faster:D I know you will probably all get sick of hearing me talk about the gym, but I know if I make myself accountable for it I'll be more likely to stay. Today I was on treadmill for 35 minutes and recumbent life cycle for 25 minutes. I can really feel it in the backs of my thighs tonight. Cannot wait to start the weight program next week, and get set up on a regular routine. The trainer just wants me to get a feel for the cardio this week before I start the weights with it. I'm praying for a loss this weigh in. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care- Di |
Back from my Anniversary Getaway!
Hello everyone!
Yesterday was my big date :) My wedding anniversary was yesterday. My hubby went all out ! He reserved a beautiful hotel right on Ocean Drive (south Beach) I got a gorgeous bouquet of tropical flowers and roses. Also my dining room arrived the day before! So I finally got to wear that slinky sexy spaghetti strap dress lol. We had a blast. My mom stayed with our girls. After so many years we went out to a club/restaurant on the beach where these Brazilian waiters and waitresses dance on the bar! I totally ate whatever Iwanted yesterday! Chicken Parmesean with pasta....I cut that chicken breast loaded with mozzarella and put it aside before I ate the whole thing! lol Hmmm..about 2-3 Long Island ice-teas :dizzy: So this afternoon Iwas back in the Gym with a slight hangover lol. I'm not expecting to lose anything this week...but I deserve it! Grizzly, congrats on the Gym!!! You will see results in no time! Kina-The Elliptical machine I use at the Gym is plugged in,cause it has this huge keypad where you can program it or use the automated personal trainer button. I will post pictures tomorrow! night everyone . Gen 194/144.5 /130 "If you want to make your dreams come true, wake up" |
Well, Gennel, if you going to blow a diet for a day, that's the way to do it! Much better than snarffling down a bag of chips at home. I think we all need to have a plan that allows us your kind of indulgences once in a while to avoid feeling trapped and rebellious.
I've been OP all week, but my notion of what that program is has been changing due to what I've been reading about dairy (good) and carbs (bad). Not that I'm going to try a true low-carb diet, but I am limiting the staples that I used to base my diets on (lots of brown rice, while grain bread, etc) and for the first time making a big effort to include lots of LF and NF dairy. Maybe for that reason, the scale has been a real roller coaster ride for me this week. Each day has been a surprise... some pleasant some not. I'm curious to see what tomorrow will bring, with today's being on the pleasant side. |
FRIDAY~~~~
Hey all,
OH GENNEL~~~~~~I just had to post after reading about your big anniversary night out on the town! YGG! I bet you two really lived it up and you were looking pretty hot!:o Boy are we ever alike......long island iced teas is exactly what i love to order at a good place too. don't worry, from the sounds of how you saved some of the food to go, i bet you'll do fine. I actually lost weight(2 #) one time when we went out and stayed a weekend in a city 3 hrs. away. I had 2 long island drinks (and this bartender knew how to make em strong like i like!)but must have ate sensibly enough, and i think it was at the top of my range, but it actually caused a loss! Who would know. And with the way you exercise you might lose or maintain it! And that wil be WONDERFUL! GRIZZ~~~~I'm not in the least sick of hearing about you at the gym. It's a wonderful motivator for the rest, and i bet you are feeling sooo strong with this new attitude. YGG~ Post how the trainer starts you on the wt. training...i always love to learn new things. Thanks! YoYoMom~~~~I too, had to incorporate the lower carb thing into my life. I felt more energy flowing nearly instantly. Course i was pretty careful with all sugars and white flours at the start. I still eat carbs but not too much of them...try to have protien right with them. and it did help me jog that stubborn scale into the down mode again. I still eat cheese with my salads and hardly ever eat bread. I still "gotta" eat the pasta(that always was my weakness), but i do watch it. Good luck and let us know what else you are doing. Bye for now! I'll PM or post my wt. results Sat. nite. Be strong all! thinlizzie  |
Hi All! I am feeling a bit better. I have been doing my yoga daily and I think it absolutely helped my body from feeling the aches and pains from the fall. Now don't get me wrong...I do feel soreness. But it is not pain like I knocked something out of place. It's just like I got banged up. I love that yoga. I am also doing the ab roller still. Now that one I have to take it easy because I use my back muscles.
Gennel^^^^^^thanks I figured it was plugged in because it says something about "with a push of a button go from easy to challenging resistance." I am hoping that by August 1 I have my own here at the house. Di^^^^^^^^^your stories of gym training is great for the mind. I need that extra shove every now and then. You keep at it and keep up with the day by day report. Because not only is it good for us it is good for you. It's keep you going so that you will have something to report to us. Kind of like an obligation...now you really have to go.LOL YoYo^^^^^^^that is great that you got your scale to budge. you just keep at it. It will start going in the right direction everyday eventually. I still can't get mine to move. I look at it this as long as it isn't going up that is good enough for me. Thinlizzie^^^^Same here I can live without the bread but PASTA! OMG it is torture if you tell me I can't have spaghetti. But I swore to only make pasta foods once a week. Otherwise I just eat a salad with some chunks of chicken. Goo Luck to everyone. Kinarina |
