Hi Miata here. just wanted to report a l.6 lb loss. I am pleased...I wish it had been more but 1.6 is good. Will start the gym heavy duty this week, drink my water, journal my food and not go above points. Will stay on the high side because of the exercise. Don't want to go too low.

I just typed out a whole long thing and then my computer froze up and it was all lost arrrghhhh...My computer is acting up as you can tell by my last double post...
I just wanted Kina to know that my husband and I exchange frogs on occasions. He gave me a really ugly red plastic one for valentines once (he's such a romantic.....:p ) So thats why I was curious about your frog...
Gennel, thanks for the calorie advice. I'm pretty sure the only way I'll meet my goal is to COUNT. I bought a big bag-o-lettuce today and I'm doing salads this week. The rest of the family has to fend for themselves!
I told my husband that the dining room set was your anniversary present, not the flowers....:D
Bye!

Hi, all.

DH and I are frog fans, too. We have a large (~4 foot) resin frog statue and a difeerent one even taller made of metal in our yard. We often get cards featuring frogs for each other on our anniversary. We were recently discussing why frogs are so cute... I thought it might in part be that their eyes, which are so prominent to see in water, have a big wide-eyed baby look to them.

I'm still plugging away and the scale is still bouncing around but it bounced in the right direction this morning so I'm in a good mood.

Gotta run, my puppy looks like it's walk time!

Something to be proud of !

When I first started to eat healthier and exercise I first weighed myself and measured myself too. I wrote down my goal measurements. I still remember what my measurements were 12 yrs ago lol , so I wrote them down since my goal weight is the same weight Iwas 12 yrs ago! I went into more detail and totaled up about how many inches total I wanted to lose. It was 40 inches total. I thought "Oh man.....could I really do this?"
I measure the first week of every month and add up the total inches lost so far. I forgot to measure July6! So I measured yesterday and compared them to my goal measurements and saw that I had passed some of the goal measurements! I've lost 42 inches so far. I went from a 45 bust down to a 38! under my boobs was 40 inches! Now 33.5 inches! And my biggest happiness was from my waist! I cried when I first measured my waist and it was 40 inches in Feb! Yesterday my waist measured 30 inches! I had a lump in my throat this time again but not from sadness or dissappointment but from total shock and happiness!! lol The same goes for my hippy hips and thighs! Ouch! each thigh was 27 inches and now 22 inches ,arms and caves have gone down as well.
My hubby saw me scribbling down something in my measurement journal. He saw I looked happy and nervous and asked what was going on this time lol. I showed him my first measurements and then showed him the recent measurement. ....Well now I got a lump in my throat again lol. He pulled me over to him and gave me the biggest hug and told me " You have no idea how proud I am of you" "I've witnessed your hard efforts and sacrifices for the last few months and they have paid off" Well I knew he was happy for me but had no idea ! I think the fact that he's never had anything negative to say about my weight. He's never told me that I HAVE to lose weight or else.
If that was the case I would'nt have lost a single pound ever!
Well I just had to say that. Focus on yourself, be selfish for once!
Think of you, you, you! You deserve it! I stopped thinking of all the other reasons why I needed to do this"for my husband,so I can go out and not be embarressed anymore, so I can go to the beach with my kids,.....all those are not a good enough reasons to do this. When you put yourself as the main and only reason to do this then you will find yourself more and more determined to keep it off for ever.
Well I wrote enough for today!
;)

I'm an oldie. I have been at 219 lbs forever. Want to join your group with a target of 4 lbs. for the four weeks. Biggest failing is the evening slumps. I get down in the mouth and so does the food. Hope this goal setting helps. Wish me luck.

Kina 07-16-2002 12:03 AM

Hi Luckymom. I don't know if this will help but I have the same problem you have...snacking at night. Well what I did was put my scale in the kitchen. Thay way when I go over to the kitchen to grab a fattening snack I will think twice. If I do grab something it will be a healthy something. I also have a calendar magnetized to the backdoor. The calendar shows my progress for my exercise that I do daily and also shows my weigh in for the day. When i walk into my kitchen for a fattening snack I see the calendar and walk over to it. I see my losses and also my gains. Either way my choice usually ends up being a good one. I usually walk away with just a glass of ice water or yogurt or an apple.

Much luck to you.
kinarina

Welcome Luckymom1

Welcome Luckymom1 ! I think most of us can relate to the late night snacking and how difficult it is to switch that around with healthy latenight snacks. In fact that is one of the main reasons that got me to the point of " I've had enough and I will do something about this NOW!" My late night snacks shouldnt even be called snacks ! I was eating whatever was leftover from dinner, around 11 pm at night or later! I wont lie to you ,in the beginning it wont be so easy . Take out a piece of paper and write down what are your absolute favorite latenight snacks. I dont recommend that you switch chips for an apple. I think replace popcorn with popcorn. It might sound silly but this is what's worked for me ,it might work for you . I love burgers ,so instead of a regular beef burger I make a ground turkey burger on light wheat bun and add lettuce, tomatoes, onions and fatfree mayo,ketchup....the works! That burger has half the fat of a regular burger and you're not eating a tiny little burger either! lol
I like chips once in a while so now I buy the Baked Doritos that have 90 calories and 1 fatgram, they taste the same! OR the fatfree Lays chips (70 calories and 0 fat) Instead of buying the popcorn with lots of butter or cheese,Buy the fatfree popcorn and sprinkle Mollymcbutter Cheese flavored splirnkles or McButter buter sprinkles. The sprinkles melt into the popcorn and its totally fatfree! If you love icecream, yogurts, cakes ... You can buy these items with lowfat or no fat at all. Losing weight shouldnt be deprivation . That will only last a few weeks and we go nuts and end up at a Dunkin Donuts at midnight full of powdered sugar and glaze all over our mouth! lol And then wonder how we ended up binging on donuts in the middle of the night!? I havent personally driven to Dunkin Donuts on a crazed binge, but one night I seriously thought about it! lol That's when I decided that I had to replace regular icecream with lowfat or fatfree icecream.
Oh! by the way our 4 wk challenge ends July 20 , if you'd like you can join for this last week, maybe a mini goal of 1 lbs .
Our new challenge begins on 7/20 . So you are here right on time!
again, Welcome!

Where is everybody!

Hi!
Just checked in for the past two days and I dont see any new posts so here I go again posting! How has everyone done so far this week ? I did great except for one day. I made my famous gr. turkey chili and ate a little more of it than I should! I couldnt help it! ...well actually I could but the taste got to me and I had a little more on my plate. Well I hope the scale budges this saturday. I'm off to the Gym in a few minutes and hope to burn off that extra chili I had. lol
If anyone's had a great week or a bad week, please post. Chances are we've all done that one day or another! I'll do my best to stay OP the rest of this week since Saturday is the last weigh in for this challenge! I CANT believe this challenge is almost over! Time flies lol. I will keep starting new challenges until I reach my goal weight. Then I will keep starting challenges , but my only goal will be to maintain my goal weight every 4 weeks. I want to feel accountable for maintaining also. Remember once you reach your destinations , the journey isnt over. We have to keep going.
Take care folks,

Kina 07-18-2002 11:13 AM

Here I am! I have been staying away from the thread for fear of jynxing the scale. This morning I weighed in on my scale and it said 204.5! Truly amazing...you know how I have been stuck on the hill all by myself for a while. So if I don't jynx it Saturday I will report a 2 lb loss! AAAAAAaaaarrrrrrgh! But I have to say I haven't been doing my yoga for the past few days. I think that slip off my back porch is kind of catching up to me finally. I have a kink in my neck that...ouch! I am still working out on my twister and my stepper. The least I could do.

Oh and I also started a knitted baby blanket for a friend. She is expecting her second baby and this time it will be a baby girl. I have to say this blanket it the prettiest one I have ever made. The good thing about the knitting is that it keeps me from making unwanted visits to the fridge. Maybe that is my secret key...? Actually I started the blanket a couple of days ago...maybe? I'll take the loss no matter the way it came off. It's cool with me.

Hope every one is doing well. Yes I noticed as well, helllo ( echoooo echoooo) that nobody was posting. I bet you every body is working their butts off for Saturday. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

bye. kina

When's the final weigh-in?

Hi everyone.
Well I'm just totally out-of-control. Is today the final weigh-in or Saturday or next week? I'm also totally out-of-touch-with-time!
Anyway, my stuff from last week which sadly has continued into this week has done it's damage. I've gained 2 pounds. I just had a TWIX bar and decided it was about time to STOP THIS! I still weigh less than when I started, but if I keep this up... I could decide that since I had a Candy bar at 8:14 A.M., the whole day is wasted. That's my typical mentality. But no. It's 280 calories I didn't need, but that doesn't mean I have to consume 3000 more before the day is through, right? O.K. Starting over (again and as many times as I have to). As of right now, I'm back OP.

hi everyone

Just thought I would say hi, I've been silent for awhile. I missed my last Sat. WW meeting, so I weighed in yesterday. I lost 3.5 lbs. I'm so excited! The last two weekends we've been camping, even though there was plenty of time to snack I stuck to the program. Now I've got to catch up on all these posts. :dizzy:

take care,
billie

Gennel 07-18-2002 04:21 PM

Keep it going ladies!!!!!

Hey!
I'm so glad when I popped in and saw new posts besides my own! lol Kina you cant jinx it girl! You lost 2 lbs and you wont gain them in 2 days! Stay OP and you will do awesome this saturday!
Jen, dont sweat too much the 2 lb gain. I used to think the same way ,if ate a small order of Mcd fries that my whole day of effort and sacrices went out the window. You are starting to think the right way girl. The 280 calories you ate are not going to make you gain a whole pound. Stop yourself at that Kitkat and get back on track just like you said.
Msbillie, wow girl you are close to your goal girl!!! I'll edit the chart and add your 3.5 loss.

THE FINAL WEIGH IN FOR THIS CHALLENGE IS SATURDAY 7/20.

I have a good feeling about this week for myself. I've changed my routine a bit so this should help! :)

Hi everyone

Hey everyone! Wow Kina and msbillie I hope I can report as much a loss as both of you!:D Jen- don't get discouraged I bet you did great the rest of the day! Gennel- what kinds of changes have you made in your routine? I'm sure you'll have a loss. As for me I've been going to the gym. The only exception was today, because the darn gym wasn't opened! I sat there for 45 minutes waiting this am and no one showed to open. So I had to walk on my break this am in the sweltering heat and humidity. The gym is supposed to be open tomorrow so thank God for that! I have only gotten to do weights one day this week. The trainer who is supposed to train me has a fight coming up (he's a boxer) and has kept having to cancel my sessions. I've been promised sessions next week though. So I've been sticking to my cardio which is 40 minutes treadmill and 20 minutes bike. I've beefed both of them up to make sure I'm getting the most I can out of my hour there. I can really tell a difference in the way I feel since I've been going. Thanks Gennel and everyone for encouraging me to join and go. Hopefully my next goal will come sooner than expected. Take care all. Di:lol:
