motivational quotes that really impact you while trying to lose weight??

Hi y'all :)

I was thinking about motivation this past evening ... seems to be a constant subject on this forum ;) JK!!

For me, 2 recent statements really affected me, even though I have not been able to fully internalize them into my psyche as I'd like to at this stage. (*Practice makes perfect as time goes on I suppose, lol.)

One was from Madonna (of all people! :o). The other week or so, I happened to catch an online old interview clip Madonna had on Oprah's show years ago & what she said really made me take notice during a pivotal point of discussing yoga & exercising & eating in moderation/portion size, etc etc-- Madonna said: "If you stop worrying about being fat, you will not be fat."

The second one was from a contestant on this season's TBL, Sione. After dropping a big weight loss number some weeks back, he said (and I'm paraphrasing here) he used to complain about working 10 hours a day at his job, and yet he always found three hours in the day to watch tv. There was no more excuse for him NOT to exercise if he could find three hours in the evenings to watch tv.

It's comments like those, that just make you look at the overall big picture, doesn't it??

Anyone else have a great motivational quote? :)

Most of mine came from here...and I will probably misquote them slightly.

"If hunger isn't the problem then food is not the answer."

"If you trip on a stair you don't throw yourself down the whole flight"

"Being fat is hard, losing weight is hard, maintaining is hard. Choose your hard."

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't you're right."

I just saw a great one this morning on sparkpeople:

"Be as you wish to seem" - Socrates

This is one of my favorites! Can't remember where I found it though.

"A year from now you'll wish you started today"

Two came to mind:

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. - Andy Warhol

If you keep on doing what you’ve always done,
you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got. - W.L. Bateman

This got me to looking for others and I found one that fits me to a T.

"You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance." - Lee Iacocca

This one means a lot to me lately:

"If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down."

I'm trying to follow the suggestion of:

Eat to live, not live to eat.

I like it...

These two are my FAVORITE!!! Especially the second one. Its so true! No matter what you do, something will always be hard! Yet, I think I would be happier with the second and third hards on that list. Dieting is not easy, but I feel a lot better about myself already now that I'm taking action to make myself thinner and fitter.

"It is just food."

Wow, these are all so great! You guys definitely gave me some great ones to store away for future use.

One of my favorites is, "Fitness to me isn't about a crunch or a push up, it's about taking your power back."

I like it because it's dead on for me. I want Diet and Fitness to signify more to me than just losing weight. I want power, power to keep myself healthy, the power to resist things that are going to be bad for me in the long run (this includes things other than food), and the power to be able to rely on myself, to take responsibility for my actions, to accept the consequences, positive or negative, and the power to keep going even when I feel as if I can't.
