Hey Ginny... just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you today... hope the party goes well! And I hope you are having better weather than us... it's SNOWING here!!!! Jeeeeeeeez!!!
We're expecting better weather tomorrow, TG, since I'm having a cookout here for my sis's b-day. Hope you are all well! Gotta run... will check back later :) |
Good morning all.
Well my dh thinks our system has the virus. I'm not sure. This computer didn't have a anti-virus system installed on it yet. So we have to wait and see. It seems to be running ok today. How is everyone else today? Jen, I'm sorry to hear about your DH. That must have been so scary. When my DH was in the hospital and they thought he may be having a heart attack it made me think about the years we've been together and how many more I want with him. Then at the same time it makes you think about how prepared I wasn't for him to leave me. I don't think one can ever be prepared for something like that. But thankfully your dh is better! Today I'm having a light eating day. I hope anyway. I started the morning with some fruit and hopefully I can continue with vegetables the rest of the day. I just feel "fat" today even though the scale hasn't moved. Some people have bad hair days well I have bad "fat" days :) Anyway, did any of you recieve any strange emails?? I got two more this morning. It's so frustrating!! :?: Never in all the 4 years of being on the net have I encountered a virus in any form. Then yesterday I got 9 in one day???? Two more already today?? Makes me wonder who is out to get me... or my computer files anyway. Well, I'll catch everyone later. My sister is here today and wants to surf the net. |
Hi gals!
I hate to be the dummie of the group but I've noticed many of you reffering to hubbys and kids as dh and dd/ds or something like that. What does the first d stand for? Are there any other abbreviations that I should know of so I can follow along? I'm so anal and I'll spend, like, WAY too much time trying to decipher them if someone doesn't tell me - ha ha! Thanks to you all for welcoming me so warmly. Jackie, I feel for you so much! I have also been feeling down lately and can't quite put my finger on the exact culprit and, unfortunately I can't point to pms. I think it has something to do with not working. As much as I enjoy being home with my kids, it seems that it's all I do. Almost all my time is consumed in one way or another with kids - mine or others - and not much with adults. I'm feeling a bit burnt-out and actually want to go back to work or find a womens group or something just so I can perk back up again. I think I almost have more fun with my kids when I don't see them all day everyday. Maybe when they're both in school in the fall I'll get something part-time... I hope that by posting here it makes you feel a little better. They say that everytime you talk about a problem, you feel a little better and things start to get a little bit more back to normal. I'm a very open person and actually prefer to lay everything out on the table so that it can be observed, monitered, handled, resolved, whatever. I can't hold stuff back (just ask my hubby ;) ). Spryng - I understand your financial woes - I'm there as well. It seems that everything looks better on paper than in reality. By that I mean I never would have entirely quit my job had I known things would be so tight. Of course car troubles kicked in and my oldest needed glasses - not to mention holidays and birthdays! It seems just the accidentals alone are enough reason for me to go back to work! How many months till fall? Sunshine - I would have told you had I known! It is really the one job that I hate more than anything! We remodled our kitchen in our old house and the mess was terrible - even with taping the room off. It gets everywhere doesn't it - walls, floors, hair, ears, nose, etc. You need a vaccuum or something to suck it up as you're sanding. Good luck though, the end result will be worth the mess! Jen - glad to hear everything's ok with hubby - that must have been quite a scare. Please keep updating and keep positive no matter what! Ginny - hope the surprise worked and everthing was great! My kids have been cranky lately too - what's up with that? Maybe they're hanging out together, who knows about kids sometimes  Well all, that wraps it up for me. I'm off to a very busy weekend and probably won't post much this week - hubby's on vacation!! We've got so much going on - Star Wars movie, Veggie Tales concert, Cubs game, kindergarden graduation, brother's birthday, projects, and so on and so on! So take care and talk to yall soon! |

What a dork I am for not welcoming Sassy to our little group... WELCOME!!!! Sorry I didn't do it earlier!
Hope everyone's having a great weekend... talk soon... |
Good Morning!!!!!!!!
I hope that everyone's weekend is going well. Sounds like some of you have been busy. Dh just came in (he is not too keen on me sitting here at the computer when he is home.........so I will have to make this short). Sassy and Spryng- I hear ya about the financial woes......we have had some awfully close calls and money has been so tight. Years without vacations...... gosh I could go on and on. But I did want to encourage you both- you are doing the most important job in the world, shaping the next generation, and your family- your children- and the world will be blessed because of your sacrifice! Hang in there!!! Jen- thanks for thinking of me and this party. So sweet of you! How did your cookout go???? I know it is cold here in NY too!!!!!! (what month is this?) and we are supposed to have frost here tonite. Latisia- glad that you are OP today. Hope that your day goes well. Oh- Sassy I will fill you in with some of the abbreviations. Dh- dear husband (so Dd is dear daughter, ds.........you got it) TOM- time of the month ,, goes with PMS!!!!;) WTG- way to go MIL, FIL - mother in law, father in law OP- on program (following whatever plan/diet you are on) My feeble mind is blanking out- so others will have to fill in. The party went well........Dd was very surprised and her friends seem like great kids (most of them I knew already). Gotta go!!!!!! Have a great day! Ginny (Jackie, where ya hiding????? Is your mom doing ok? Misti- still up to your eyeballs in sheet rock dust?);) Sorry that this is short. |
Still around
Yep. It is pretty deep. I'm hanging in there tho. Been drinking slimfast shakes, pretty tastey. I was getting sick of the canned food. Oh I'll be so glad to have a home cooked meal. It's still a long way away.
It's good to see you all posting. I've missed you. Hope you all have a great day OP! Welcome sassypie. |
Good Morning!
First of all, thanks for everyone's concern over me. I'm better & hopefully I'll be totally back to normal soon. (As close to "normal" as I'll ever be! ) TOM is just about over & hopefully my energy will return. Our whole family must have picked up the new virus going around because we're all either hacking away, losing our voices & DH was running a fever last night. DH really was a "sweat'n" & a "Snor'n" last night & he thinks that the fever must have broke & feels a little bit better this a.m. So far our computer's haven't caught any new virus' & hopefully they will stay healthy. ;) Well, I hopped on the scale this a.m. This was the first time in over a week! Can you all believe that I waited a whole week? The reason behind this is because I was under so much depression & if I would have hopped on & had a gain, it would have maybe thrown me over the edge for sure! Well, I did indeed gain 2# back, but it really doesn't bother me. I'm thinking more clearly this week & I know if I really watch it, pedal my bike & drink tons of water, it will come off again. (Hopefully a little more too!) Latisia: It looks as though the 2# you lost in Texas made it's way over to me here in Wisconsin! When would you like them back? Keep up the good work with Tae Bo! You're doing a fantastic job! BTW: (By the way) What does the abbrev. TTYL stand for? Does it mean Ta Ta Ya'll? I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better. Don't worry about the 2 days OP. Give yourself a pat on the back for staying OP 5 out of the 7 days last week! Misty: Thanks for checking in with us! We're going through the same thing in our house too! DH finally put the toilet back in on the main floor of our house. I guess I'd better pedal for sure this week due to me not climbing the stairs to the UL potty as much! We had a lot of dust flying around due to sanding & all. DH finally attached a vacuum to the sander & it wasn't as bad after that. I couldn't believe the guy who installed our floors didn't wear a mask over his mouth while he was cutting boards, as he was really coughing from the dust. One day it was so bad while he was here, that it actually made our smoke alarm go off. This smoke alarm is hooked up to ADT securities, so I had to call ADT & the 911 dispatcher to let them know that it was a false alarm! Talk about a workout! As for your Slimfast, I'm glad that you're enjoying it. I sure hope that you're only drinking one can a day to maintain, because you sure do not need to lose anymore! Ginny: Hopefully you have made a complete recovery from your dd's party. I know how busy you had been planning this! I hope she knows & appreciates all that you've done for her & her party. You sure are a great Mom! ( A great friend too!) BTW: MY DH made a "surprise" stop at home this a.m. & caught me on the computer too! He was supposed to be on his way to Illinois after dropping dd off @ school. He forgot his address book & thank goodness, he's back on his way again! And for my Mom: She's doing good with the reflux part, but is in a lot of pain with her arthritis. She has OA & RA, so it's double trouble for her. Jen: Thanks for poppin' in for a visit. Hopefully all the snow melted for your sister's cookout Birthday party & you all stayed toasty warm! Oh!, and about your dh: I'm sorry to hear of his scare & going to the emergency room & all. Hopefully they didn't miss anything & that it was only a scare! I'm sorry I didn't send any Get Well wishes his way sooner, but somehow I missed your post & just went back now to review it! Sorry!! Glad to hear that your dm came to help, that's very generous of her, isn't it? Spryng: About you not being prepared if something should happen to your DH, don't feel bad. We still haven't made a will out! And we're almost twice your age! As for your "Bad Fat Day" : I sometimes have these myself & sometimes I'm quite surprised when I get on the scale to find that I've lost! Hang in there! I'm with you on the a.m. fruit & p.m. veggie program, as I'm really trying to reach the 20# loss mark in the next week! Less than 5# to go! As for the computer virus thing: No, so far I haven't gotten any virus' that I'm aware of. My e-mails are still not caught up yet, so there may be a few lurking somewhere. I'll be really careful & scan the list first before opening up any. Hope you had fun with your lil' sis! Is she as grown up as you are? Sassypie: I'm so glad that you have joined our group. I can see you will fit in quite well here! I have a thing with high-lighting everyone's name in a different color. And yours will be high-lighted in limegreen. I picked this color for you because of your username, as I think of keylime (sp?) pie when seeing your username! (I'm also running out of colors to use too! ) Thanks for your concern over me & I'm sorry to hear that you are going through the same thing! I've been home 4 years now, exactly 4 years today because I quit the P.O. on May 20th! I still haven't went through withdrawal symptoms from that place & don't plan to anytime soon. I've managed to keep myself extremely busy with my volunteering the first few years & my housework & re-decorating projects going on right now. Matter of factly, I think part of my depression that's still hanging in me is due to me feeling overwhelmed with all that I still want to get done before the kids are home for summer vacation. My time is running out!! I'll keep taking "baby steps" & maybe I'll make it! As for the adult companionship: I haven't had to worry about this either because my Mom & in-laws keep me busy enough. I'm also around the parents & teachers at school enough, so this helps quite a bit! My friends also get together with me from time to time, so this helps too! I sure wish that all of us here on the thread could get together in person, as we would have one heck of a party, wouldn't we? It sounds like you have quite a busy schedule ahead of you, maybe this is part of your problem huh? I hope that you are able to enjoy yourself through some of these events! As for yours & Spryngs financial woes: I feel for you in this area! My DH & I have had a lot of arguments over money in the past. Somehow we've managed to pull through these tough times so far! Sheila: Where are you anyways? Stop by for a visit when you get a chance, okay? Well, I suppose I'd better close for now. The "check message length" keeps popping up in yellow, so this must be a hint that my post is long enough! TTFN |
Hello girls....
Good to hear from you, Jackie! Glad you are feeling better! I can relate to you feeling overwhemed about home projects... I am in the same boat. We are currently trying to work out re-siding the house, having a new roof done, a bathrrom under construction, building a roof on our deck, a new front porch, painting all ceilings and walls..... ugh!!! I wish I had the money to pay somebody else to do all this stuff!!! Misty, hang in there... Hopefully, the weather is nice out your way so you can get out and away from the dust. Ginny, glad to hear your partry went off well. Mine did, also. The snow melted, and it warmed up to a chilly 55 degrees here. But everyone had a good time. The only mis-hap was when the wind blew over the deck umbrella, which in turn knocked the chocolate-cake-with-mocha-frosting that I had slaved all morning over off of the deck railing and over the side!!!:o I had to scramble and whip up a batch of brownies so that we could stick in some candles and sing happy birthday to sis! What a total bummer!!!! Spryng, Shelia, Latisia, and Sassy... how was your weekend?? Hope you guys are well and you check in soon. Well, I'm off to bake cookies for the kids' t-ball game later this afternoon... please send me good willpower vibes so I don't eat any! I'm weighing tomorrow. Talk soon... |
Hi everyone, I have a unique problem, I'm a stay at home Grandma. I can understand why women with young children gain weight, when you have to deal with snacks and meals all day, it's like you get no break from it. I try to disengage my mind from what I'm doing or I'd be eating all day. I admire people that are successful at this, I try to offer only healthy snacks and at specific times, some days are better then others. I'm glad I stumbled on this site, I need all the support I can get. Judy

Good Morning!
Jen: Your cake story is just what I needed to hear this a.m. I got a good chuckle out of it. Sounds like something that would happen to me. It sounded like a great party anyways. Judy: Welcome to our thread! Don't feel like an "old granny" here on this thread. There's a few of us that are "old mommies" here! I checked out your birthdate & your only 10 yrs older than me! I have a 13 y/o ds & an 8 y/o dd. My dd has a weight problem, so I try to offer her fruit or raw veggies for snacks. For special treats I give her Fat Free Swiss Miss Tapioca Pudding or Light Wheat Thin Cracker's with low-fat cream cheese. (Only on occaison though!) She doesn't like too much candy, thank goodness! I guess Morning Star has some great tasting veggie corn dogs that are just delicious! I just heard about them @ my dd's dance class last night. I buy a lot of veggie burgers & other tofu type items myself & can hardly tell the difference. I just recently started buying veggie cheese & it's not too bad. A lot of times when we think that we're hungry, we're really just dehydrated, so try drinking some water instead. I hope this helps you somewhat. I'm glad you "stumbled" across our thread, as this is definitely the place to get support. We support one another through weightloss woes & just about any other topic that can pop up! Glad that you have joined us. Post with us anytime! Well, it's time to take dd to school now. I'll try & check in later. See yah! |
OK, last week, I thought it was a fluke. In a moment of weakness, I sent dh out for hot fudge sundaes... (I know, baaaaad Jen!) About halfway through it, I didn't feel so well, and I "paid" for eating it the entire next morning, if ya catch my drift! Well, last night, I had a small cup of ice cream leftover from this weekend's party.... my tummy is in total distress this morning!!!! I know it must be the ice cream! Normally, I do not have a problem with dairy... in fact, ice cream is one of my MAJOR weaknesses, especially in summer when all the stands are open. The only time I've ever had a bad "reaction" to ice cream has been when I've been preggo. (no, I am not... in the midst of TOM right now, plus had my tubes tied!) So, I am swearing off ice cream! I know this is a good thing for the diet, but I am very disappointed to have to give up something I love so much. :(
Jackie, glad I could ammuse you this morning. :D I have to say, I was not very ammused when I found the cake smashed upside-down on the grass! I was soooooo looking forward to it, but, as they say, everything happens for a reason! Welcome Judy! How old are your grandchildren? Where's everyone else??? Hope you all are doing well! Talk soon... |
Good morning all. How is everyone today?
I'm completely stressed out. But I'll get to that later. First I want to welcome Judy to the thread!!! And I want to take a moment and admire you for taking on the task of raising your grandchildren. Only special women will do this and you have earned my respect right away!! :) Tell us all about yourself, are you on any specific plan of a diet? My name is Spryng and I'm 22. I have been married 4 years now and have two beautiful kids. They are 2 and 1, 11 months apart. Right now I am maintaining my weight but in a few weeks I'll try to lose these last 10 lbs that are hanging aroung. I've been on a ton of diets and the one I like best is low fat. You can eat more on it. As far as the snacking, with my two kids I don't buy candy and such for them. I hardly ever have cookies and such in the house. But they love fruit and vegetables so they snack on those. My daughter prefers lunch meat as a snack, which is fine by me and my son likes everything so he is easy to please in the food department. But I figure they will be overwhelmed by junk food when they are older so why buy it now? I rather them develop a taste for good foods so that maybe later they will put down the candy bar and grab an orange. Well, that is my hope anyway. How much weight are you wanting to lose? I look forward to hearing from you again. :) Well ladies. Yesterday was a real test for me. Not with food. I did great on my eating. But with our finances. We have no water at the moment. This is not because we didn't pay the bill, we did. But we are having problems with our bank and they screwed up royally this time. We really need to close out the account and go to a different bank. It's such a headache. The water should be turned on soon, but we don't know when. We live in a small town and there is only one guy who does that and of course he is busy today and can't get to us right away. So I'm not sure when we will get water again. So I have emptied our freezers ice maker and am melting it for drinking water and my DH is going to buy some water from the store so I can clean and such until ours get turned back on. You know, I make enough mistakes myself without professionals that handle our money making mistakes too and making life harder for me. :( But at least I can feel good about the fact that it wasn't because we couldn't pay our water bill. It would be worse if we couldn't. Now I can put the blame elsewhere. I don't know though. Sometimes I feel like we are drowing in bills. Well, I guess this is too personal and you all don't want to hear it. So I'll shut up now :) Anyway, other than that everything is the same here. My weight is stable and my eating has been really good. To answer your question jackie. Yes I enjoy my little sister. She's 15 yo. When I lived at home we hated each other. We are 6 1/2 years apart. But over the past year we have really bonded. No she isn't as grown up as me. She's a typical 15 yo. But she is getting a job this summer and that is making her more aware of her future. To save money, etc. So I think she may really do some growing up this year. She really helps me out with the kids and I appreciate that. She is all I have around here for that. My parents never want to watch them for any reason and my DH parents who adore them live 4 hours away. But my sis watches them when I really need it. Plus when I go back to work she has volunteered to watch them for me at a very reasonable price. Much cheaper than day care and I know they will be in good hands. Of course my dad is home in the evenings and he is great with them when they are there. he is just too worn out from working all day to watch them solo. and I understand that. My little brother is only 8 weeks older than my own daughter so they have a toddler too. When all three gets together they are more than a handful!! :) Well, I need to go try and wash dishes and clean up. I'll talk toyou girls later. |
Hey there!!!!!!!!!:)
Well, I am glad to see the thread busy..........glad to hear from Jen, Misti and Jackie who I had not caught up with in a few days. And a BIG welcome to Judy!!!! I am one of those who is closer to you in age than you think- (sort of halfway between your age and Jackie's, but then only my hairdresser knows for sure!!!!;) ) Welcome to our nuthouse here- we get sort of silly at times but there is a lot of great friendship and support too. As far as Sheila goes.....I actually had some time to cruise the site the other day and she started a new thread just to leave a message. She must be posting on other threads too- so she left a message to all saying that she was having some personal trials (non specific) and that she was going to stay away from the computer for a while. So who knows when or if she will be back. If her email is listed, maybe she will respond to an email, I dunno. Well, I got on the scale this am.............:( I ain't talkin' but it was not pretty!!!!! Now mind you this is PMS week for me so insanity reigns here..... I have to go but will be back later :) as I have something that I must take care of. I'll leave more personal responses then......... Have a great day! Ginny |
Hey Spryng!
You snuck on here while I was posting...........sorry about your financial woes but I can tell you that somehow all that stuff works out. I will pray for you, (if you don't mind!) for the grace to get thru all this. Gotta go- G |
