Yeah it takes a while to get used to.

I feel more at home at the gym than at my own house now...

GRR!! *****es!

I'd throw my water bottle at them

Well not really. But I'd probably do something to get back at them.. even though returning negativity is not beneficial to anyone, or productive - i can have a short fuse sometimes...

Are there other gyms in your area? When I joined my gym I looked at 3 different ones and they all had a different "feel" to them. One felt like it was for the "beautiful people" and I felt out of place (this is the one that my boyfriend goes to and loves). One was a very small gym, there were very few people there both times that I went, and I am hoping that the gym will be (eventually) a social place as well as a place where I work out. The third was a large, family oriented place (they have a whole gym just for kids with rock climbing, kids' fitness equipment, and bungee jumping). That was the gym for us. The people are nice, the kids love to go (and motivate me to go), and there are a lot of different activities to prevent boredom. It was a little more expensive, but I felt comfortable there from day one. Shopping for a gym is like shopping for a house or car, shop around for one that fits you!

Update: I went in to cancel - after one week of feeling frustrated with their service. The manager let me cancel the contract. Then he offered to show me around himself, he offered me 3 free sessions with a personal trainer, a free wellness program, 30 days free use of the gym, then if I want- I can do a month to month contract, for only $24 a month.
WOW. I'm glad I talked to him.
I guess I'll do it, and take all of your advice.
As for why I haven't used the stuff at home? Since the kids came along - I just make an excuse. If they are home - I want to play with them, if they aren't, I feel like I should be cleaning house - so that when they are here they have my attention.
I'm slooooowly realizing that it shouldn't matter if the kids are here or not - mommy is going to need an hour or 2 to herself a few days a week - for my health and for their future.
Right?
Thanks for all support!

This is a good lesson for everyone that gyms will ALWAYS negotiate in order to keep your service.

Good for you!!! I hope you enjoy your training sessions! you sound like you're really committed to making it an exercise schedule work and I think you just need some time to feel it all out and you will be much more comfortable.

I don't blame you for wanting to take some "me" time out of the house. You deserve it
