I was thinking of using daily plate also But changed My mind Since I have dial up internet and Kids who take over my computer LOL! I always keep mine logged into a journal here at home~But i think daily plate seems like an excellent place to keep track of things.(Just not sure it would work for me since I get limited computer time.) But wanted to say I Think if it will work for you GO FOR IT.
I love it! I tried fitday for a while but went back to the daily plate because it just worked so much better for me. I love being able to manually add calories, it makes things so much easier.
The Daily Plate is amazing! I've been tracking everything I eat on there since December 1st. I LOVE how you can put in your exercise that you did -- and it calculates how many calories you've burned because of your current weight. I also like how you can put things from restaurants in there, and even create your own meals. Since I almost always eat Special K for breakfast, I just have my different variations, with a cup of skim milk, saved under Meals - it makes it a lot quicker! I too tried FitDay for awhile, but I swear by TDP!
I think TDP has the most comprehensive list of foods and activities... it's also FREE. I've paid for other services (2 years ago) and they haven't come close...
I actually bought a paid membership @ TDP to support the site because I think they're so great.
I also have the app for my iPod and that is really useful when I'm out.
I've been using the daily plate for a year now and I love it. I need to pay for the upgrade so I can use it on my blackberry. I don't care for the livestrong version either, I've just stuck with the original.
Another fan of TDP here! I love the saved meals option and the frequently eaten foods or frequently used workouts. Great program! The forums are full of good diet and fitness advice too!
I love TDP. I especially like being able to make meals. I probably have about 30 at this point. Since I don't have an extremely varied diet, it makes things so easy!
BornToFly, I get the same thing, goes right to Livestrong. But since this is the first time Im using the program I don't know the benefits of TDP without Livestrong so it works well for me.
I always use TDP and I like how wide its database is, however, although I put in my weight, etc., I do not go by how many calories it says I can eat. If I ate over 2000 calories a day, I'd gain all my weight back. I also track my exercise, to see how many calories I burn off, but I ignore the "you may eat an additional --- calories today" because I eat <1600 calories and don't factor in how much I burn off. I don't know if I'm making any sense, but I do love TDP for its wide database and way to keep track of my calories, but I just chose the amount of calories I can eat from another site and go by that.
Ive been using TDP for over a year now as well. I love it. I can find foods that I use regularly on there and if its not in the database, you can add it.
