I paid about $50.00 for mine. |
I like the digital scales because if I lose even the smallest amount of weight, I want to know about it!

I a digital scale at K-Mart 2 weeks ago. It was on sale (29 bucks) and supposed to measure body weight, water weight & bone mass. What I liked most about it was that the display came off and could be held in your hands. I havent seen my toes in years, theres no way I could see that little dial by my feet. When I first stepped on it I got an error too. I spent an hour programming and reprogramming the thing to clear the error. No go. I'm thinking the stupid thing is broken. As a last test I programmed my 12 year old son as a user. It works fine!! So I google the error and find online documentation for my scale prodex-hk.com/pevr-2101.htm on the bottom of the page it says: If the results of the analysis exceeds the scales LC display, then >>ERR<< appears in the display. Afterwards the scale switches off immediately How's THAT for diet motivation! I exceed the scales display capability  I can laugh about it now but I cried like a baby that night. I can get my current weight on it and my first mini-goal is now to get the rest of the scale to work for me |
I have a digital too. It will do fat% and water% if I set it up but I can get really messed up in those things so I haven't done it yet.
I like the digital because it shows an appreciable change very quickly (even tho' one tenth of a pound is very small) it's encouraging. |
Awwww...Twice. What a story. You go on and kick that bad scale's a**. You can do it girl!!
|
What I dont get is the max capacity of it is 395lbs. I'm nowhere near that but I exceed it the display cabability?
I'm not thinking about it anymore. It's WAR!! that stupid scale isnt going to beat me! |
I just got one of the old fashioned beam balance scales (like they have or had in the doctor's office) I love it! Very accurate to a quarter pound. They had it on sale on amazon, with free shipping before Christmas.

Twice, that's a bummer
So I did it - I broke down and bought a digital. It's a Health O Meter, which funnily enough is the same brand as my old dial one. It does weigh me a couple of pounds heavier, probably the same weight as I clock in at Weight Watchers. I couldn't find a Tanita in my little town, but this one cost $54.00 so it's not a cheapie. I've gotten on and off a couple of times, same weight, so that's good. Like Violin Jen and Susan B, if I lose an ounce I want to know! Unfortunately I'm also going to know if I've gained an ounce  |
Twice, it sounds like you also bought a defective scale. I'd take it back, and test them in the store before bringing another one home. I called and they told me it might not work without more weight on mine, so I held two water jugs to throw off my weight (don't want to weigh before the 15th) and it did register a weight (a really scary over 200lb weight ). I got on the dial scale with the water jugs too, and while I can't really tell for sure what that one says, it looks to me like the digital might add about a lb. That's not too bad.

I have a Weight Watchers scale. It's pretty accurate. Though the one's at the gym weigh me about 4lbs heavier. They're the ones that are in the doctor's office and are extremely old. I strictly use my scale at home for weigh-ins so I don't go crazy. Though the gym scales show the same amount of loss, so who can go wrong with that?

Digital, digital, I wanna get digital...
My wee WW scales are great. |

I'm starting to hate my new digital scale(!)
It's accurate, I think; I got on and off three times this a.m. and it weighed the same each time; unfortunately, despite three days perfectly on-plan, I've GAINED 3/4 of a pound. Yuck. The balance beam scales sound interesting. Aren't they huge? What were the shipping charges like? |
There's one on amazon.com for 144.00 + free shipping
|
That's the one I got. I really like it. It is big though! I had to move our towel rack to make a place for it :) but there is something very motivating about it. I have a perfectly fine digital, but it's not the same as getting to move those weights down the line lol There is a little assembly required but that didn't take long.
