JP - you are an exercise star! Great job...keep it up:D As for the fiber, I don't like to use the supplements; they always make me feel kinda naseuous...For extra fiber, I eat strawberries and raspberries...they have alot of fiber, rasp more than straw, and they are low in calories...I also eat really high fiber cereals...two I get at the health food store are "Simply Fiber" which you really have to mix with something, and Smart Bran made by Nature's Path that has only 90 calories per serving and a ton of fiber, and really tastes good on its own... If you're looking for something sweet, Gnu Bars are great for added fiber; most have between 130 and 150 calories and 12g of fiber in a generous bar and they come in yummy flavors like banana nut, chocolate, peanut butter, cinammon raisin and orange cranberry. As for the water, I drink alot of tea...I count that as water...I also use "True Orange" and True Lime; they are powders that you add to liquids; they have no calories, no artificial sweetners, and they make plain water much more palatable... Hope everyone is doing well....Today was good...we even went out to lunch with visiting relatives, and I was able to eat reasonably well...grilled salmon and spinach... Keep it up ladies! Jp-Great job on working out everyday !!!! The water is hard to get all of it but I like veggie also count my tea . Veggie- Great job on going out and eating so well !! I've been avoiding eating out . I even turned down my dad wanting to take me out for my birthday :). My day's going pretty well . I talked my hubby into going on a diet with me so that made me very happy ! And I got a great compliment from a guy he works with so it's been a good day . I havent over eaten I used the bowflex and the exercise bike earlier and tonight I'll be doing my 2 mile WATP. Its really cold here; we had a big temperature dip (about 20 degrees) since the weekend, and while I like winter, I like it to come on gradually, not overnight... Fld - great job on the exercise and kudos to getting the husband to come along for the ride...my husband was really heavy when we met, lost a lot of weight, then stayed pretty even for a while; about three years after we got married, he got real heavy again, and went to WW; he lost the weight...then gained some back; in total went to WW three times; each time lost the weight...now, he should lose about 10...but with the holidays I know its probably not realistic, so I'm just trying to watch what I give him so that he doesn't gain any more... JP - you can get the Gnu Bars and True Orange at the health food store, but I have also seen both in some big grocery stores like Stop and Shop and Shop Rite. Another good sweet fiber source are VitaTops or VitaMuffins which you can get in the freezer section of the grocery store, or online at Vitalicious.com. The only problem with ordering on line is that you have to buy a lot at a time, and they have to go in the freezer. They have about 100 calories, and anywhere from 4 to 6 grams of fiber; all kinds of flavors including alot of choc varities. it was freezing here today and we had a fair amount of snow and icy roads. brrr... went to the grocery store and got some fiber-filled foods, including snack bars and yogurt. can't wait to try them. my quest to drink more water is going pretty well. i havn't reached the recommended daily amount yet, but i'm getting there. i've definitely been going to the bathroom more often today, which is kind of a pain, but at least i know i'm drinking more than i usually do. busy day today and i dropped my car off at the shop, so i wasn't able to squeeze in any exercise, but definitely tomorrow. hope you're all doing well :) jp |

Veggie-Part of it was he's gained 40lbs in the past couple monthes (he used to work very hard at work and he still eats like he's burning all those calories). We'll see if he'll do it he usually gives up or sneaks in junk :).I hope your day's going well . Jp-Great job on getting your daily amount of water!! I was craving a soda all day and finally caved and opened one but didnt drink it(not by choice my 4 year old stole it and it was the last one . So I guess even she's on board with this diet:) ) . fld, that is definitely funny about the soda! we're all on your side, even chance! :) veggie, good thinking with the lifesavers. i have to try that when i feel like eating! i guess there's a reason why they're called lifesavers! :) good eating and exercising for me today. drinking of water is doing well too! veggie, i'm not sure if this is a result of the water but when i weighed myself this morning i was down a couple of pounds from 2 days ago. so, i'm not sure if i just passed all that water weight when i kept going to the bathroom yesterday, or if it is all the water helping. but i can't believe it yet, so i'm gonna weigh myself again tomorrow morning and see if the drop in weight is true! cross your fingers! :) hope everyone has a good evening! jp |
Jp-It was kind of funny not so much at the time when I really wanted that pop :)your doing great !!!Water does seem to help alot. Your doing a great job on everything ! I think drinking water helps your body gety rid of all that water (water weight)that your body's holding on to though I'm not totally sure I do no I lost a few lbs when I gave up pop and started drinking water.

JP - That's great that you dropped some weight...I've read so many times that drinking water actually makes your body release whatever excess water it is retaining...nice to know it might actually be true! Yesterday was not a good day...sorry to say that my eating was quite "disordered" :p...Sometimes I just get tired of fighting, and yesterday I just gave in to the I'm tired, I want this, and I want that....yech...oh well, today's a new day, and so far I am back on track...let's hope I stay that way... hi, me again.
just needed to vent a little. my boyfriend is frustrating me, and since he's my 30-day shred buddy, i did the workout with only half the energy and barely broke a sweat or got my heart pumping. it didn't help that i could hear him huffing and puffing beside me, which bugged me even more. so now i feel bad that i wasted a workout today, which i really needed, since i ate a snack bag of cheetos today and i felt horrible afterwards. :( but as you said veggie, tomorrow is a new day. i'll just sleep on it. sorry, just had to get that off my chest. good night, jp |

Thanks for the support yesterday. My day went fine, and I seem to be back on track. Fld- you put me to shame exercise woman! That is just great that you're getting revved up, this is the time, over the holidays to be even more active, so you're doing a great job:carrot: JP - Feel free to vent...that's why we're here; its better than eating out of frustration:(...I can understand what you are experiencing re the boyfriend...I had a similar experience with my husband when I cajoled him into joining me on one of my outdoor works in Sept...he couldn't keep up with me, and when I slowed down, I just got annoyed because I knew I wasn't walking at a fast enough pace to make it a worthwhile workout...After that, I decided to do the exercise I needed to do for me for the day, and then, if I had extra energy, to invite him to exercise and then even if I kept to his slower pace, it wouldn't matter so much to me because I had already done what I needed to do...At first I thought I was being selfish, but then I realized that I wasn't doing him any favors by "dumbing down" my workout to suit him because I'd just resent it, and probably take it out on him in some other way subconsciously...Make sense? thanks for the support w/ my bf frustrations. it's usually fine working out w/ him but since i was frustrated in general last night about another issue, it didn't help when it was time for us to work out. but everything's better today. good eating but havn't been able to work out yet. i feel like my desire to exercise has been fading these past few days and it's bugging me cuz i know i have/need to but i don't want to... help! veggie, glad you're doing well! :) fld, 3 teeth removed! yikes! thank goodness for pain medication! just be careful as to not pass out when exercising! :) welcome, firehawk! we're all here to support you! jp |

Well my computer was being nutty yesterday but working again today . I missed this board :) . Jp-Great job on still eating right .Time of the month is a hard time .ou get back in the exercise flow again. Veggie- Hop you have'd a good couple of days. No passing out with the pills :) I'm only taking them at night now so that wont be a worry any more . They did make me kind of woozy though :) My days going pretty well I got up early and did 30 on the bike and another 20 on the bowflex . My eatings going pretty well . Jp- Congrats on doing stage 2 I've heard those workouts are hard ! We'll see how long this major workout lasts for me . I tend to push a little to har sometimes and then I wear myself out :) Veggie- Thanks (on the tracker ).Your fdoing great today!!I do the WATP and I really like them they definatelly give you a workout . There mainlly walking in place , some sidesteps , knee lifts , kicks and some arm movements . I started with the 1 mile and now am on the 2 and I love it . veggie, level 2 of the 30-day shred has more difficult exercises than level 1. there are a few plank exercises too, which i'm horrible at! so the moves are just more rigorous, so they're harder to do or keep up with. but its good to keep the body challenged, though it can be frustrating! :) fld, hope your day is going well. wasn't able to work out yesterday and the ate pretty badly cuz my good friend had a party which was really fun, but now i feel horrible just thinking about all that i ate. i'm trying not to think about it and just get back on track and move on. so now i'm actually craving a work-out to even out my bad-eating! jp |

Today started off well .And I decided to try on a pair of pants that didnt fit a few monthes ago (like I couldnt even come close to zipping them up) they now fit there still tight but I can stand up and zip them :carrot: .That made my day . Well, got my exercise in today...I thought I might not because I was up late waiting for my daughter to get home from a night out with her friends...she was home by 10:15, but then between the banging of the bathroom door, and the dog waking up and running around the house for a while, I didn't get to bed till much later... I made another side dish for tomorrow this morning; I'm trying to do alot ahead this year, so I don't get stuck in the kitchen away from everyone for the entire time....although sometimes that's the safest place:o if you know what I mean... wasn't able to check-in yesterday. i've been doing fairly well. eating is not the best in terms of food choices, but doing pretty well with portion control. still exercising! my brother and my close friend's family is over at our apartment for thanksgiving, so it's a big party here! like veggie, i will be cooking too tomorrow, but my brother will be helping. i'm actually kind of excited to cook and eat! but i am determined to stay with my portion control. sounds like everyone is doing well. Well, my dinner was a success, and now the house is quiet again...We eat early and finish by 3:30 because my brother has a sort of long drive. I was up early and got my exercise in before breakfast. I did pretty well food wise...didn't overeat, but I did eat things that I usually never do...including a small square of desert bar (oatmeal, apple, caramel thing I made) and 1 cookie I made...I know that doesn't sound too terrible, but the tricky thing for me is that I never really have had much control where sugar is concerned, so I'm actually better off avoiding it all together....I haven't had anything sweet for quite a while, and I am terrified that this will somehow set something off...but I didn't want to refuse to eat dessert altogether, as I hate setting myself apart like that if you know what I mean...anyway, please think good thoughts for me that I can handle this and that I can continue on my healthy eating ways:hug: Hope you all had a great day, Veggie |

Well, back to normalcy...and I'm glad for it...Did my exercise, and had a good breakfast....not going to shop today...I hate the crowds, and I tend to think that you can still get great deals further along in the season... I didnt make it on yesterday as I was a bit tired all day . My mom talked me into going to the black Friday sale at Walmart . And i've now decided I will never go again that place was crazy ! Otherwise my day went pretty well . Veggie- Sending the sweets away is a great idea . Thankfully sionce we did Thanksgiving at my moms theres none in my house to tempt me :) . So did you get a WATP ? sorry i've been MIA for the past few days. my brother came down to visit for Thanksgiving, so it's been pretty crazy. he left for NYC today and it's back to reality for me. it's snowing pretty bad out right now, the first big snowfall of the season here in Milwaukee. sigh. okay, so Thanksgiving went pretty bad for me in terms of both eating and exercising. whenever my brother and i are together, our favorite pasttime is eating! thus, we ate since i hadn't seen him in 7 months. i didn't get to exercise everyday, but i was able to squeeze in an exercise DVD and we walked around a good amount too. i know i shouldn't have done what i did, but i kept making the excuse that my brother was here and that i don't do it everyday but now that i'm thinking about my weekend i almost feel like the past couple of weeks that i have been exercising and dieting all went to waste. i guess, to some extent it did, but i'm just trying to move on from here. today is a new day and i'm back to my usual diet and exercise regime. i guess, now i now how i react to that kind of situation, so when i go to NYC for the christmas and new year holiday, i will know what to watch out for...? ugh, this is really bad and i feel pretty horrible about it all now. help! how do i stop making excuses to eat badly especially when i'm around my family/friends that i havn't seen in a long time? (p.s. my parent live abroad and my brother lives in NYC, so i only see them rarely) well, i'm glad both of your Thanksgivings went well. veggie, good job with the sweets . fld, glad you're doing well. and i completely understand about Black Friday, i definitely spent more money than i should have. sorry this is so long. take care. jp |

Sorry that I too have been off the board for a few days...I was really tired from Thanksgiving, and it really only caught up with me on Sunday....all I did yesterday was stay in bed, which was fine because the weather was totally terrible here... JP, don't for a minute think that all your new good habits of the past few weeks have gone to waste because of a momentary slipup....the fact that you have started up with your program again today is evidence itself that those weeks were worthwhile...how many times before you started this plan would you have said, oh well, I may as well keep eating, and forgoing exercise? That alone is a victory that you have resumed your healthy lifestyle. Please don't beat yourself up over this...it happens...particuarly at the holidays...you can't change it now...you can only learn from it, and move on, which you are doing. :hug: fld - Yikes...I stayed out of the store on Friday....I don't really have that much shopping to do, as our family is small, and this year my husband and I are not planning on exchanging much, although we do still have to buy for my daughter and mother, and his father....It's hard to shop for my daughter now; she's a junior in high school... thanks for the support. i really am just trying to move on. i am back to eating well again today and will be working out tonight, just waiting on my workout buddy. back to drinking water again too. so, i am feeling much better that i'm back on the band wagon! wohoo! on another note, so remember how i ran over a rock and had to get my car fixed? today, my friend backed up into my car and now my bumber is cracked with a piece missing and my left tail light is cracked and broken too. geez louise. it's barely been a couple of weeks since i got my car fixed. sigh. well, at least my friend is gonna cover the expenses to get it fixed. veggie, i totally understand feeling tired after the holiday weekend. i was so pooped i feel asleep super early last night! fld, hope you're doing well! jp |
