Yeah, l would assume the good memories are not the drinks or drink-induced behavior, it's the good company.

I've given up nightly trips to the store for junk food after the kids are in bed. I plan a healthy snack (popcorn/fruit/cheese/almonds etc) for around 8:30 and then I'm done!

I gave up drinking, not girls night out. I always drank more than the others, and was always the one who suggested stopping at the quick shop for nuclear burritos and chips for the way home. I have now grown older and realized that hangovers *really* suck. I can have just as much fun without the 1000+ extra calories consumed in margaritas and other high calorie drinks and junk food.

It all hit me one day at a swimming party when I was shoveling something in my mouth and washing it down with a Budweiser. (And of course NOT swimming.) It reminded me of a similar event when I was a kid...the only difference was I was not grossly overweight or drinking...but having the time of my life. I watched the kids playing about the pool and realized that they were having all the fun without drinking. Heck they didn't have time to eat, they were too busy playing...a light bulb moment made possible by children.

By the way, I figured my drinking habit was running me at least $30 a week. I have saved every dime of that money and now have a couple $500 CD's in the bank (plus a stash in my sock drawer waiting for my first cd to come due so I can add to it.) I'm going to use that money for a tummy tuck down the road.

I did the same thing when I quit smoking a few years ago and have recently purchased the most beautiful (expensive!) chairs for my dining room!

I've given up watching T.V. Not entirely but I certainly don't have as many "Must Watch" shows. In fact, I don't just watch T.V. anymore I am doing something else at the same time and it's not eating. I hate the commercials for food on T.V. too. and the food channel. I don't watch it anymore at all.

I gave up beer. still got 2 in the fridge and no desire to drink them.
we dont eat out. was at least once or twice a week but my calories and my wallet just cant afford it any more.
i gave up naps. I use to drop my son off at school then go home and take a nap. now i drop him off and go straight to the gym. I still miss my naps. I have always liked to sleep and i'm a night owl so i dont go to bed until late. I really miss my naps. Now i want one....oh well...got to get up and move instead.
