Unhappy Had to move my ticker in the wrong direction

Well I've had to do something today that I've not done in 10 months since joining this board - I've had to move my ticker in the wrong direction. Yes, I've gained. The first time in 10 months. Its only 1lb but still this ends an amazing run I've had of consistent weighloss or at least staying the same.

I did waiver for a little while and thought that I'll soon get rid of that extra pound but I decided to be true to myself and change my stats. I've been away for a week in New York and did do as well as I could but not totally OP. However I was hoping all the walking we did would balance out the extra calories but obviously not.

Think how satisfying it will be when you re-lose that pound and get to move the ticker back down. I'm sure you'll be able to do that quickly.

1 lb that could be water retention from travelling on a plane. I find that happens to me when I fly. Still even if it is from a little extra intake- this is what maintenance will eventually be about- staying on guard and readjusting.

Compared with the amazing loss of 80 pounds, that one little sucker in nothing, really. I am sure you will get rid of it soon.

It's so hard to have to move your ticker up. But you went on vacation, and you only gained a pound! That's an amazing accomplishment. Be proud of how far you've come, and I bet that ticker will be sliding back down in no time.

I'm sure I would have to move mine up by at least 5# after a vacation. That's amazing! You are probably being more accountable and honest than most would be.

You are way more honest than I am!

When I gain, either from TOM or a binge lasting for a few days (or both), I won't move my ticker up.

I just think to myself that it's a temporary thing and there's no use in changing my ticker up because it's going to go back down within a week or two anyway.

(I think if the gain lasted longer than two weeks, then I would begrudingly move my ticker up, though.)

I've moved mine up before ... but not happily!

Right now I'm actually 167, but I just came off my TOM, so I"m hoping by Tues it'll be back to 165 or lower. If it's not, I guess it goes back up, huh? Bleah.

But I did want to chime in that when I fly, I do retain water a lot. Flying is dehydrating and I usually don't wind up drinking enough to compensate. So don't despair ... I'm sure that extra lb will fall off quickly!

I usually gain a lb. or 2 when I travel. But, within a week, it is back down - usually below where I was before the vacation. Travel, restaurant foods (salt) and less water usually mean a weight gain.

My guess, you will be moving your ticker DOWN on your next weigh-in

That's my "policy" too.

Heck, I've seen my weight change by two pounds within one day before so I try not to get too weirded out about "blips" (that's what I call 'em anyway). It's only if it persists that I realize it's not a blip and I have to do something more aggressive about it.

I celebrate that you've already lost so much!! That one little pound will feel even better to lose the next time! Heck, you may have already lost it by the time you're reading these posts!!!!

I agree with everyone above.

You did terrific only going up onepound on vacation....flying can add water...salty restaurant food will get you some water...even a lot of water can keep you storing water in your joints....I'm sure you'll be dropping the ticker again soon. Congrats on your losses to date. Excellent!

I only change my ticker on the last day of each month. Sometimes it's down. Sometimes it up. Sometimes it stays the same. That's why it's good to record exercise and stuff too. Those non scale victories can be just what you need.
