Only thing I can add is you might look into getting a digital food scale to help with portions and counting. The one I have that gives me the nutritional guidelines for the food and weight of the food I put on it. It was $40 at a dept. store. I know the $$$ could be hard for a college student, but it has really helped me see my portion sizes and what the nutritional value is of the food I'm eating.

Any coach who pushes a student with your stats to lose 60 pounds in under 5 months needs to try to be more balanced and further educate himself about health and nutrition in my opinion.

I just wanted to share that low carb eating doesn't automatically mean eating animals or animal products. I eat vegan low carb and am losing a lot of weight!

the fun thing is he is a big guy himself; and i have tried to talk to him before about the way he deals with the girls on the team because he is really verbally abusive and he just says "well quit then" blah hmmm vegan ehh? is that more expensive than regular? Where would I get meal ideas for that type of a diet? thanks for your response

Hey SOFTBALL ~ I probably can't help much but a couple of things came to mind I wanted to share. My daughter played college tennis, at a Christian college here in California, a few years ago.

#1 ~ I remember my kiddo telling me how hard it was to eat healthy in the cafeteria...there were some healthy choices, but it was ALWAYS the same healthy choices.

#2 ~ With all the travel (snacks on the bus/plane/vans) it was hard.

#3 ~ Places the team stopped for dinner (fast food and chain restaurants)...there was always "better" choices but if she wasn't prepared it would cost her many calories.

#4 ~ I always brought snacks for the kids...a lot of long matches! I was known as snack daddy Anyway....I brought fruit, cookies, drinks...etc. Some healthy ~ some not so healthy...I usually took home most of the not so healthy stuff

#5 ~ My daughter had great trainers (and a real jerk of a coach! ) but I did notice many of them were "training" too and maybe a little lacking in knowledge...may not be the case for you though.

I know it is hard for you to lose weight with so much going on! The only thing you can do is START! You have a lot of support here that won't let you down! It will be a long road...a pound at a time, but you will get it done...you have too! You are young and healthy...there are a lot of women here that wished they would have made changes in their lives at your age...do it for you! Get in a couple of my threads I will guarantee you a 5 POUND loss and get you in a 5K....

May our Heavenly Father bless you in your efforts! Good luck kiddo ~ Gary

I can eat healthy and workout but how do I know how much to do to lose that much or more a week? Thats a great question lol anyone have advice on that? I know that the people in Biggest Loser lost that or more in 15 weeks so I need to knwo what their doing lol
Dear SoftballStar,

I think you need to take it easy. Forget about doing the same thing that the participants on The Big Loser did - that is not realistic in every day life. First of all, they had a trainer, a nutritionist and were under medical supervision all the time. They worked out 6 hours a day, and at the end, even more than that. It would NOT be healthy to lose almost 4 pounds week. You will have to accept that your weight loss will be slower. You may not be 220 by September, but if you lose, let's say, 40 pounds by then, your coach must recognize your effort. He is NOT serving you well by asking you to shed 70 pounds in 4 months and he should not be expecting such a huge weight loss.

Don't be disappointed if your weight loss is taking longer, and don't give up!
Best of luck to you.
