I'll let you know tomorrow, but I doubt I'll be too glad.
The good part, as you mentioned, is the routine. It goes out the window on the weekend! I've got plans for the gym again tomorrow and left overs packed for lunch.
Well, this Monday is very NOT business as usual for me (I leave tomorrow early for a business trip), so I'm not ready! But typically, I love my return to the week and the routine, although lately I've been embracing weekends and doing well WITHOUT the routine. It's becoming slightly less of a struggle (though it can still be tough!)
I'll be the odd man out here -- I kind of like the weekends -- I work from home/SAHM of two boys. During the week there is homework to do, preschool drop off/pick up three days a week, friends over, etc. The weekends are more mellow -- a few baseball games lately, Friday night is movie night (rent one and have a "sleepover" on the floor of the living room) and a lot of family time.
I like the weekends a little more, if only because I have a better selection of food for my meals.
During my work-week, I have to pack lunch and dinner, which limits me on what I can take. I can't put things in a refrigerator at work--it all has to fit into a lunch bag-cooler thing.
On my off days, I get to cook things that don't microwave well or would be too cumbersome to pack. So, I have a better variety of things to eat on my days off.
Also, there's virtually no junk-food temptations in my home, but at work there are often cupcakes, donuts, candy, and other goodies just laying around and trying very hard to seduce me.
I do tend to eat more on the weekend. I think it's because I'm less busy and have less structure. Saturday nights are pizza night too. I hate Mondays though. I tend to have trouble falling asleep on Sunday night and getting back in the rhythm of the work week.
I think I like the return to the work week. I think I am still tempted by too many things around the house to make me comfortable. I'm doing reasonably well, but still hear those familiar callings... just easier, I guess, when I'm at school lol P.S. You guys are very inspirational
I actually prefer the weekend routine-wise. Lately I've noticed that I eat even BETTER on the weekend than I do on weekdays because on the weekend... my whole family is home, to see me make bad choices on the instance that I do. It gives me that extra little boost of willpower to skip that pizza. It's definitely a lot easier to give in to temptation if no one is there to watch you, and judge you for it.
Also, the general stress of the typical weekday usually leaves me more wanting crap... As opposed to the typical mellow weekend, where I seem to be more clear-headed and better to make good choices.
I like the week for the food i can eat....
but the weekend for the time i get to myself....
im lucky today as the UK has a bank holiday!....
and i have an interview first thing 2mora morning....
2 extra lie ins for me!....
I am torn on Mondays. On one hand I HATE Mondays, because it means another 5 day work week is just starting, and I always have trouble sleeping on Sunday nights knowing that I have to get up early Monday morning and start the long work week all over again.
On the other hand, I do enjoy the new week of routine that comes with each Monday. I used to not have much trouble on the weekends of staying mainly on plan, but lately I have just been eating whatever on the weekends and not sticking to my calories at all. I'm not completely stuffing myself with junk, but my meals are defintiely more caloric then they are during the week. So lately I've especially been liking when Monday brings my routine back to life. I've dedicated myself for the next month to making all week long, not just Monday through Friday, on plan, and it starts today. Mondays are also my weigh in days, so if I think if I can stick to my routine all week long, Mondays will be much better when I step on the scale.
I don't particularly like Mondays, but I don't mind today too much.
My routine is not that much different on weekends (other that I am not at work) - I found out that I pretty much hold my own and I don't overindulge in food on weekends, so they do not represent a threat to me.
I did have a lunch with the "girls" yesterday - we get together once every 2-3 months (since each of us lives in a different town). I was mindful of "eating healthy" and so I ordered turkey with home fries (the choice was mashed, fries or home fries). There was some gravy on the turkey but there was also a nice amount of steamed broccoli, cauli, carrots and peppers as a side dish. I ate the veggies first and saved half of the turkey to go (less than half of the home fries). I stopped eating regular potatoes (and I love them) so that was a treat for me. I have the leftover for lunch today, with half of a broccoli. I think I did pretty well, most choices on the menu were not the healthiest. A friend of mine next to me was stuffing hersefl with French toast swimming in melted butter, maple syrup and whipped cream (but I am quite immune to that stuff, thank god).
I probably eat better during the week. I like the money I get for working and my job is fun. I also enjoy the weekends, relaxing or doing home projects. I like having the time to cook on weekends.
I am ready and I have a plan for the week. I am working the early shift, 7am - 1pm this week. I am not used to it, so getting up early and trying to function is hard for me. So...yesterday I selected five previously prepared meals and snacks from the freezer and packed them in a big container to put in the freezer at work. I packed a week's worth of fruit which can go in my drawer. Now, all I have to for each day's lunch is make a salad. I eat breakfast at work, too, so last night I cooked a few days worth of oatmeal which I can just reheat.
