karmuz, I have had a very hard time losing too, so I can relate to your struggles and find comfort in your success : ) Having said that, two years ago I never would have thought:

* that I'd be able to run at all, let alone run sprints (granted, I am still pretty slow, but I'm getting faster!)
* that I'd be able to maintain a 30 lb. weight loss for a whole year
* that I'd have the confidence to wear cap sleeves (my arms don't look gorgeous, but I am learning to accept them)
* that I'd be able to go to the gym and work out without feeling like everyone in the place is staring at me
* that I'd get on a spin bike. In front of other people!

thistoo, that is all AMAZING. and you're better than me because cap sleeves aren't even in my vocabulary yet - but i have wide shoulders and they're not very flattering on me - they make me look like i should be playing for the nfl. lol.
i just took a peek at your lj and you're working VERY hard.. hard than i ever have.. great job - you're really motivating!

I love this idea. Right now I'm in the midst of a full-blown plateau, and it's difficult (at times) to keep making good choices when you aren't able to see the rewards on the scale. This will help remind me of how far I've come!

6 months ago, I never thought I would:

--enjoy getting up early to bike to work.
--feel guilty for eating a granola bar.
--have size 16 jeans that are getting too big!
--do anything but cringe when I look at my reflection.
--want to go hiking with friends.
--have the confidence to start a new hobby (boxing!).
--feel comfortable wearing a belt.
--have such beautiful collarbones.
--see my reflection at the gym and immediately have to try and figure out if that was the truth, or if i was just in front of a "skinny" mirror. (it's the TRUTH! My thighs really are getting that small! )

In all honesty, there are a few things that I STILL feel like I'll never be able to do, but I hope to prove myself wrong one of these days:

1.) Wear a size 8.
2.) Weigh less than my boyfriend.
3.) Have muscular, toned arms rather than the fat flab that I've got currently.
4.) Be able to wear tank tops and capri pants like all the cute girls and not worry about how my arms/belly look.

Well, they're not very flattering on my either, if it makes you feel any better I totally have batwings going on, but I have a feeling that extra skin isn't going anywhere even once I'm at goal, so I'm either going to have to learn to live with it or face surgery eventually. For now I'm trying out learning to live with it, and if I ever make it to goal I'll worry about it then.

Thanks! But honestly, I only work that hard because I don't have a choice. It feels weird to be proud of myself for doing something I hate, you know? But I *feel* a lot better, so it's worth it.

I have to say ... you are all an inspiration to me. I'm just starting this journey again after several stops, stops, detours, wrong turns and dead ends. Thanks ladies for the inspiration and I wish each of you the best on your journeys ...

i never thought that even after 3 1/2 months of not exercising and not gaining any of the weight back.that i would be so glad to start it up again and look forward to it in the evening. and sometimes feel guilty about not doing it.

i give alot of the credit to people on this site for helping me not to give up and stay at it even when i really did not want to. THANK YOU

Things I am doing now that I never thought I would do (or do again)
  • Wear capris
  • Wear fitted suits
  • Wear high heels
  • buy an electric bike to commute to work
  • hike in the mountains
  • enjoy eating - really enjoy it without guilt
  • eat veggies regularly
  • exercise regularly - who knew I could do yoga?
