Hey everyone, I've been creeping around reading here for a while. Now I have a question! Does anyone else have a harder time losing weight on birth control pills? I was losing weight steadily before and then went back on them a few weeks ago and NOTHING moves. I have noticed that they severely affect my mood a lot of the time but thats the only other side effect. If they are holding me back from losing this weight then I'd rather not be on them

You might want to try the NuvaRing instead. With BCP, the hormones travel through your blood, and fundamentally change your body's chemistry. NuvaRing directly send the hormones to your reproductive organs. (Or, at least, that's how my OB/GYB explained it to me)

I've never had any problem on the pill (I could lose weight just fine, and it never made me gain), so I'm not sure what gives. Perhaps you should ask your gyn for another type of pill, if getting off the pill isn't an option?

I also remember reading somewhere that what could make people get weight problems on the pill was the mood swings (--> emotional eating in turn), but I have no idea if this is accurate, or just a supposition.
