I have to say, even though we're not losing weight for compliments, compliments are nice at times when we need that extra boost. Some people like to say "I lost 2 lbs!" just share some sort of exciting tidbit... I wouldn't think to make weightloss apart of anybody else's business....

Those compliments sure can mean a lot sometimes. Sure, we aren't losing weight for compliments, but motivation can come in many forms and people noticing all the hard work and effort are big on my list.

Mary, I'm happy your friend called you a skinny skank

Also, I know that when I have been very heavy, I kind of carried myself in a way that communicated "don't look at me." So what happens is, people get USED to looking past you, kind of like when there's a new stop sign that wasn't there before you don't see it at first. Patience and time! One thing that is really true: nothing is such a bummer that overeating can't make it worse. So please don't let this change your momentum!

Mary...CONGRATS! I can not wait for the little steps like losing 10-20...and you've done 30! Awesome! They probably didnt say anything...bc to others it may come across as rude... "I'd ask her if she lost weight...but I dont want her thinking I think she is fat..." I know...when I dropped from 285 to 240 I had a friend tell me the exact thing...she said, wow...you look good...you're losing weight..and I said uh..yeah...she said she didnt wanna say anything before bc she didnt want it to come across as a you-needed-to comment....instead of the i-really-mean-it comment...Congrats and keep up the good work...you are an inspiration to me!!

Mary you sure have a lot of good advice here. I will say that most people that are overweight are " sensitive" to it and comments about it. I really think most people would rather NOT say anything than say something that might hurt your feelings in some way.

Also.......what HEATHER said!

HAHA I love your friend and I don't even know her. I can't wait until someone says that to me!!!

I agree some people will not say a thing for fear of upsetting you. I only comment on friends of mine or if its someone I am not close to, I wait until its obvious and then say something. I have a fear of someone losing their mind on me if I say something. Maybe I should change my frame of thought!

I think you're doing a fabulous job, so keep up the great work!!!

Just a thought, we need to start a trend.
Goal for the day:
Tell someone you know that they look GREAT! You don't have to say, "Have you lost weight?" But, surely, we all know someone who really has made an effort to improve themselves.
