Default scale problems

If I get off and on the scale repeatedly, there is always about a 1-2 lb fluctuation. At first I thought it was my scale, but when I bought another I had the same prob. Are all scales like this?

My scale is like that also.. I also usually get a different number if I move the scale to a different tile in the bathroom. I usually take the number that I get 3x.

yup, same here...when I weigh myself, I try to keep the scale in exactly the same place and on the same tile on the bathroom floor.

LOL. OMG! I thought I was the only one I usually step on and off the scale about 5 times and I use the number that comes up most often

My current scale is the only one I've had that doesn't do that. I could get off and on it 5 times in a row, and each time it will level out to the same number. It's a Thinner digital scale, and it measures in half pound increments. You have to tap it first, to zero it out, and then get on. It has sensors in each corner, and comes up with an accurate, consistent weight, so I love it.

Plus now, I don't have to take whatever number shows up the most out of several quick, consecutive weighings, LOL.

That's so funny, I was reading these posts and thinking, hmmm, my scale doesn't do that. Then I got to the end, and I have a Thinner scale also. I didn't know it had sensors in each corner...

Okay. Well, we got lots of scale questions and approaches here on 3FC. But I had no idea that some of us were weighing five times IN A ROW!

Really, this just cracks me up!

Chicks, for goodness sake. A scale is just a machine, and most of them weigh within a certain percentage of error. They aren't perfect. If you have one that gives you the same weight twice in a row, then it's a keeper. If not, just take the first number AND STOP HOPPING ON AND OFF!

(gasp, pant, pant) Wow. Really. There have to be better things to do in a day.

I agree with JayEll. I am guilty of hopping off and on the scale too, but I have a good excuse because I just bought my scales a couple of weeks ago and the novelty hasn't worn off yet. .

I think we have to understand that scales fluctuate and that no two are going to be exact, or the same one exact 5 times in row. I'm also going by my measurements this time and even with that I know it will be awhile before I start seeing a really accurate reading because I'm just not sure if that tape is in the exact same spot every month.

Maybe we should chuck scales and tape measures and just wait for our pants to fall off.

I've been doing the 3 out of 5 approach, but sometimes much more depending how uninformative the scale wants to be...

OK then, I guess I will just go back to my old scale that only weighs in half-pound increments. The more "precise" 0.2 pound increment fluctuations are just driving me bonkers!!! Or maybe I should just use the scales at work and just use 1 lb increments...

Mine does this too. I weigh myself 5 times and take the middle #

I hate that it's never the same!

Hahah let me just say I replied before I read the responses!

Who knew that so many of us were 5 timers? I guess it makes sense though.

I figure the middle # (Or that that shows up 3 times) is the average and probably the most on target.

This is too funny!!! I am also guilty of jumping on and off the scale. And yes....mine changes sometimes too. I can't help but jump back on the scale when i see a number i wasn't really expecting. Like this weekend....I saw 151.2!!!! I was estatic (sp???). anyways....I was really, really happy. I just had to jump back on and see it again. Thank goodness, it said it again. But i've had it where it would say something like 152.4, i get off, zero it back out, get on and it would say 153.0. I'm like....what?????? Sometimes, i would even see 152.4, get off, go potty, come back, weigh again, and it would say 153.4. I'm like...what??? I gained a pound by going to the bathroom???? So, i just take the first number i see. But here all this time, i figured it was just my scale!!! thankgoodness it isn't just me!!!!

I have a Taylor digital scale, and it gives me the same number every time I step on it, whether I have it set on carpet or tile. It also measures in 1/2 pound increments. I love it, it's one of the best scales I've used in a long time.
