Cool I Want Pizza

I'm home alone and I want a pizza. I'm out of work because last week I was sick and work won't let me back without a note and my doc can't fit me in until next week. DH is off visiting his DB and I don't have to cook. I could have a salad or skip dinner altogether.

But I want a pizza.

Sigh!!

Guess I go to bed early tonight.

I want donut. Or a coffee roll. I'll settle for anything dunkin donuts at this point. but I can't. I always fall for it, and the cost of $1 will rack up eventually (the price of a donut) over a a period of time.

:{ I'm addicted to it. I have to seek help.

How bout a big salad and some home made pizza? You could use PITA bread as your crust. Add some marinara sauce, a little low fat cheese and some veggies.

That sounds great except I don't have any pita bread or sauce or cheese. I don't have a car and can't get to the store.

Guess I'll go for the salad

Yes, go for the salad then, by all means.

But PLAN for the pita pizza. Next time you go shopping pick up the ingredients. Pita freezes real well in fact. As does those packages of already shredded cheese. So it will keep nicely. I actually cut the pita in 1/2 so I'm left with 2 circles. Saves on the calories and the crust is real good. Oh and I use whole wheat pita bread.

LOL You are stronger than me. I still give in on occasion to a pizza. I used to have Domino's AND Pizza Hut saved to my cell phone when I didn't have a car. And I ask myself why did I get over 200 lbs..It's a complete mystery

Actually what I really want is a calzone. For those who don't know a calzone is pizza dough made into something like a turnover and filled with cheese and yummy stuff like mushrooms and steak and pepperonni.

Delicious!!!

But god, oh so fattening.

I don't even crave restaurant pizzas anymore, especially with all that fat. I have on hand 6" tortillas, tomato sauce that I add a little oregano to, part skim mozzarella and turkey pepperoni. Whenever I want it, I just throw one together and pop it in the oven. I've heard that pizzas made with ww pitas are good too.

Let's talk about celery, instead. Then maybe my tummy won't be growling so much. All that stuff sounds really good...er...bad...yes, bad, I meant bad. Very, very bad.

Pizza, Domino's, classic, cheese only, 12 inch, 1 slice (1/8 of pizza, please note, 1/8) = 210 cals, 7 gms fat. Think you can eat just one?

Calzone, 1, cheese only = 770 cals, 28 gms fat. That's half a day's calories right there.

It's your choice!

C'mon! You can tough it out!

Default you have my sympathy

When I read the original post this evening, the part that caught my attention was bout being out of work and not allowed back without a Drs. note. The Dr. can't see you 'til next week? Why can't he just give you the note? Doesn't he believe you were sick? I HATE being at the mercy of people who can't do what's right. No wonder you want pizza, but I think it's more than just a food craving.

So why not have pizza? I love spreading some jarred marinara (about 35-70 cals) on a sliced english muffin (so '2' pizzas, about 120 cals for the english muffin) and putting a sprinkle of 2% mozzarella on them (90 cals for 1/4 cup).. I toast them first, then do this, then put under the broiler until the cheese is melted. I also do this with Flat Out wraps and put diced veggies and turkey pepperoni on top. SO DELICIOUS! You can freeze english muffins and wraps, and the shredded cheese and jarred sauce have long shelf lives.. so get them when you can and keep them on hand.

Last night for dinner I made a pita bread pizza. I took 2 oz of very lean ground beef and added garlic and Italian seasonings to it and pressed it down until it was a super flat and shaped round like the pita. Then I chopped up some zucchini, broccoli, onion, and green peppers and dumped it all on a huge cookie sheet to cook. About 10 minutes on 425. Then I took that off the pan and put the halved pita under the broiler on both sides until it was just slightly brown and crunchy. I put on some pizza sauce, the meat and veggies and a low fat mozzarella and popped it under the broiler until the cheese melted. We LOVED it!!! I usually make a crustless pizza and have been missing the crunch of the bread. The pita solved it perfectly!
