Default Aweful measurement!!!

Anyone else going thru this where even though the scales are dropping and the inches are dropping, your measurements are just all out of whack?? So last night, i decided it was time to measure again. Sure, I've lost another half inch all over, but now my measurements are like bust 39.5, waist 35.5, and hips 39. My waist is not much smaller than my freaking boobs and hips!!! How can that be?????? How am I ever going to get a smaller waist at this rate??

You must be an 'apple' shape, in that case. That's what first struck me when I read your post. Basically, your weak area is your midsection (my guess, you might have a different history). For me, I'm a 'pear' shape, so my waist goes down faster than my upper thighs/hips. That's all I can see from this although you should take pride in the fact that your inches are coming down!!! My inches stayed the same since 165. *sigh* I should measure tonight to see how they're holding up.

AW...thanks sunnigummi....I am happy that i am losing inches...and i guess i am an apple. I always wondered what my shape was...it just took someone else to point it out to me. I guess my waist will catch up after everything else gets under control. All i can really do is keep working out, keep eating right and keep measureing every month.

Just imagine what it's like to have a stomach bigger than your boobs and hips.

aw...i'm sorry holicanmc. I was just afraid I may be the only person like that...especially since i have gotten down to 159...I would think my mid-section would be smaller than it is. :-( Don't worry. Our tummies are going to catch up with the rest of our shrinking bodies soon!! :-)

I don't want to start a squabble but I don't like the term apple-shaped.
Have a look at the picture in my profile.
At my highest weight, I tried to order scrubs from an on-line store that would make then out of whatever fabric I chose. They had hundreds of gorgeous prints!
I chose a size and emailed it off ... she emailed back for an exact waist measurement for the elastic. I almost cancelled the entire order rather than report that it was 36 inches.

The fat was on the front, hanging like a parcel. I still was pretty straight up and down the sides. Apple-shaped? I dunno ... I thought it was more like an over-weight H shape.

After losing weight, I'm straight ... kinda boyish with boobs but no hips. My abdomen is still soft and has a tendency to flow over too tight waist bands.

I now have xsmall scrub pants at the seamstress being taken in. Waist 27.5" It's still just barely 10 inches smaller than my bust and my hips ... the old waist to hip ratio thing.

I don't have the same problem, but when I measure myself week to week my measurements tend to vary... even if I think I have lost inches in a certain place, sometimes it will be .25 or .5 more... I chalk that up to the measurements being done by myself and perhaps not measuring in the exact same place everytime or just you know, human error... so maybe that sort of thing contributes to your dilemma?

My waist was the most stubborn measurement to go down. I would lose 4 inches off my hips, 1 inch off my waist. Eventually, it caught up!!

Do you always measure at night? I find that sometimes my stomach area is a bit bloated in the evening. I measure in the morning before breakfast.

SusanB...that is exactly how my weight is distributed. It all hangs in the front. I can see an hour glass figure when i face the mirror, but when i turn to the side, that's when i see this belly blob hanging onto my frame sticking out!!! lol.

Zenor....i just measure when ever i think about it. sometimes it's in the morning on the weekends, sometimes it's in the evening. The good news is...my pants are getting looser in the waist...i just wish my belly would go down like a nice little belly. lol.

I do have a question though.... your bust is arond the largest part of your breasts correct????? In that case, I am 39bust/29waist/36hips. I think havig large breasts makes me feel HUGE.

Jodicigrl....I think your measurements are to die for!! lol. I agree...big boobs make me feel large too. I like my boobs until I see them in pictures. Seems to make me look bigger.

My starting measurements were 49-47-45 and I'm now 36-30-33. I would have loved to have had a more defined waist but it didn't happen. My waist has always been my biggest problem area. Now if I could magically subtract 3 inches from my waist and add it to my hips, I'd be really happy. LOL

Someone once told me that your measurements only count if you are cut into slices. Silhouette is what you're after.

I'm just never going to have a gently nipped waist with a smooth curve of sensuous hip ... nor will I ever have strong shapely shoulders with a willowy slenderness through the torso and a mile of slender legs ... But now that it's all slimmer, I can work with what I do have.
