Default On the way down....

I should be rejoicing today because I reached the 180's today! But I had a bad experience shopping yesterday and it really made me see what a mess I made of myself. You see ~ I haven't been shopping much less taking care of myself in the last few years. If I went shopping It ALWAYS was to get stuff for my girls. Once in awhile i'd grab a t~shirt or something for myself without trying it on. So since I've started this 3+ weeks ago...I've started taking notice of myself. I've been trying to do my hair and makeup every day. And trying not to look so dumpy. Well, my hubby and I are going to this event next Saturday and some of my girlfriends asked me to go shopping with them yesterday for this event. So I went along. I thought it was going to be 3 of us and it ended up being 5 of us going to the mall. One of them (brought her cute daughter) is skinny. And she was talking about dancing etc...I don't dance...so right away I was having SECOND thoughts about this thing. And then we began shopping in teen shops. The other girl with us is shorter than me. She carries her weight too in the middle but things would fit her if they were that babydoll cut. Not me tho....so then we went to my favorite place to shop and the tops I tried either made my arms look huge or you could see my fat rolls around my waist! It was so humiliating. I got really emotional and depressed. I hated it alot. Then all of my success went out the window because I felt sooooo FAT! I'm actually about 9 pounds above my top weight the last time I lost 50 pounds. And I remember how fat I thought I looked then! So....arghhhhhh! How do I get past this? I suppose I'll be sticking with my program but in my head right now I feel so defeated! I don't understand this feeling at alllll! So I'm asking all of you that have lost it ~ how they felt after losing like 'the tip of the iceburg' ? Did you all go through moments or times where you felt so fat? Although you'd lost some? Or am I just crazy?!!!!

Thanks for any advise anyone can offer up. Maybe this makes no sense to anyone...i'll hafta chance that. hahaha!

Oh darlin.. I feel like this every day! I've lost 22 pounds since mid January and it feels amazing.. All of my clothes are hanging on me and I can finally wear heels without my body giving out and I'm able to stand for long periods of time (as opposed to a sit every five mins or so).. It's fantastic.

On the other hand.. I'm still 340 pounds.. I still have easily 160+ to go.. I can't wear the really cute clothes and still have the three tier wedding cake front and a big ole booty and I still don't feel pretty looking the way I do. I laugh at how awkward and bulky my body is trying to do my home yoga & stretching vids.. it's a battle every day to stay positive!

Keep plugging away, you'll find something tailored beautifully that fits YOUR body and makes YOU feel beautiful... Come here for support and inspiration and know that we've all been (and will be again) in the same boat that you are and we're here for you. My new mantra is "Don't exchange what you want most for what you want at the moment".. Be strong!

we all feel that way in some form or fashion...first off get it through your head...shopping in the junior section is pure ****!!!!!!! Everything is meant for ppl with no body fat. Yes its frustrating...but here's the deal...you've lost almost 20 lbs and are doing great. So you can't fit into juniors just yet..heck i don't think i'll ever be able to wear junior shirts since i'm a DD cup, but i know that and don't freak out. Just think, one day you will be able to fit into junior stuff if you just take the time and loose slowly. Don't sabatoge yourself right now since things don't fit like they do the skinny ppl. You will get there with patients. Slow and steady...then one day, you too can shop where ever you want. Just relax...trust me, you are doing great!!!!!!! you deserve to give yourself more credit. It doesn't happen overnight. Do get discourage...junior sizes are just around the corner.

Wow, shopping for clothes is not my favourite thing either. I don't think I'd even try it with a group, so you were very brave. I shop either alone, or I have 1 best bud that I can trust to tell me the truth - kindly, but still the truth. There are clothes out there made to fit and flatter every shape of body - the trick is finding them. No matter what your size/shape, keep looking - you will find something that you look and feel pretty in.

You've done really well - losing about 15 pounds in a relatively short period. Don't let the shopping downer ruin your resolve - use it for motivation to stick with your program, so you don't have to repeat the experience in the future.

Heck, I'm within a healthy weight range now, though I'm still wanting to shed a bit more. And I STILL have days when I go shopping and everything I try on just looks dumpy to me. We ALL have those days. Just TOM and bloating can bring it on. Or just having a day of FEELING fat can do it...whether we are or not. It's more in our heads sometimes than in the actual mirror.

I have never, ever liked clothes shopping, even when I was young and normal sized. Not even when I was in elementary school and we had to go get "school clothes" every late summer. Bah!

But, I do know what you mean about feeling discouraged. I look at my body in the mirror almost every day, and the usual conclusion is, "Nope. Still fat." That's even having lost many pounds! But I do have more to lose before I'm not overweight.

That "still fat" helps keep me determined! And even more committed to my weight loss program! You can use it that way too. I hope you do!

Hang in there!

Oh yeah, I feel frustrated with my clothing. I'm right in between sizes - my normal clothes are getting loose, and my "skinny clothes" are still too tight. I really don't want to go out and do anything that would require me to wear something other than jeans and a tshirt.

If you have the means, I suggest getting a really good slimming undergarment. And a nice, simple black dress that you can jazz up with cool jewelry. Can't go wrong with a little black dress.

Beesknees...love the avator! Great movie! Actually great example of feeling awkward and out of place. I'm feeling better today now that i'm not in a mall...haha! I also fell into the 80's so I'm better. So good to hear more of you feeling the way I do. I guess people can feel that way at almost any weight. It's like the skinny girl that was with us that kept saying she needed to lose weight and they she looked 'gross' that day. I'm like....cough cough..helloooooo over here! haha! Anyhoo....went tanning today and drove around in the convertable and feel much better. I bought some cooked chicken to eat and some diet green tea and lots of water bottles. Yum! So....I think it's great! When we all get to our goals ~ let post pictures of ourselves in the dressing rooms at the mall...kkk?

I can't remember a time when I EVER enjoying clothes shopping. Even when I was a teenager and MUCH thinner than I am now, I still was slightly overweight. For me, clothes shopping was always a mixture of frustrations (Will I find something in my size? vs. Will I be able to afford the clothes that do fit me?)

These days I would LOVE to be 180 lbs and wear a size 16 again. Instead, I am much heavier than that and still somewhere between a size 24/26 and the amorphous 3X. My goal is to get to a size 8, and see what comes next.

Nevertheless, I feel so much better because I've lost more than 30 pounds. My clothes feel roomier, I have more energy than ever, and I'm dusting off some of the smaller sizes I haven't worn in more than 2 years.

The moral of this story is: No one looks flattering in fluorescent lighting. Judge your weight loss by how you body feels to you, not how it looks in some ridiculously tiny teen shop.

Best of luck to you.

Yum! Chicken and water! WHOO HOO!

I'm actually scarfing down my lunchtime chicken as we speak and getting it over with. I'm so tired of it, but I keep reminding myself how much protein it has.

I'll see your dressing room pics and raise you dressing room pics in swimsuits. Any takers??

OK Beezknees and Onmyown, I'm in. BTW ... my buddy and I took BEFORE shots of ourselves in our bathing suits - humbling, but we will have something to compare with when we get to the after picture.

Judging by the fact that I've hovered around this weight for quite some time, don't take for granted the fact that I'll reach my goal before you reach yours... You've made a lot more progress in 3 weeks than I have. Remember, it's not a sprint, it's a marathon!

Yes that is RIGHT! I just didn't want you all to get bored while you were waiting for me to come out with the photos..haha! I'll find ways to keep you all entertained tho...I think I could come up with some good jokes maybe or some funny photos of my dogs! haha!

It's great that you are taking care of business now instead of waiting for it to get to the point that I did! But it's all good...we are all in this for the same reasons. So lets geturdone!
