HUH?

Those are your issues, Beach, not mine. I'm pretty secure in how much milk I use and how much sugar, and the calories.

Cutting back on Starbucks is good for the wallet too. I find it so hard to part with 4 bucks for a latte.

I've cut back on coffee too. Unless you drink it black, it can be a strain on the calories. But I got desparate enough after work to get a cup from McDonalds. They actually did improve their coffee. It's hard to get nothing when you kid insists they "need" a happy meal with the robot toy.

ISSUES? Ok then. Why so snippy, MariaMaria? I never said nor suggested those were your "issues". I only said that sometimes we don't calculate how much calories are in what we drink.

Sorry if I peeved you; that certainly wasn't my intention. All apologies.

I know I for one could NOT give up my morning Starbucks! O_O Its what gets me out of bed in the morning... instead of thinking "I have to get up for work now".... I think... "I'm getting up to go to Starbucks!" =D lol

*chugs her latte*

On a side note though... I only have one grande fat free per day... and I do count it

Ok...you all are going to HATE me more ~ but I was reading from this Drs website. I have his book and he sounds like he really knows what's going on. Anyway here's a copy of question #7 of his 'lifestyle evaluation'.
--------
7. On average do you consume more than 1 cup of coffee per day?
ģIf yes you could be producing too much insulin which would could cause weight gain

--------

I NEVER knew that before. His website is www.drplatt.com if you're all interested in finding out more. But I wasn't a coffee freak but I was/am a Diet Coke fanatic. And it's funny that beezknees said she had less PMS when she stopped drinking so much of that Diet Coke because I too didn't have nearly as many symtoms after cutting down drastically on drinking those. So Starbucks is too expensive anyway...let's save our money and buy a new wardrobe...when we all get really really skinny!

Hey Beach! Is that YOU on the beach (your avator pic)? Love the beach I do! My mother in law lives near Laguna Beach! I recently got a convertable and i'm going to drive it down PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy) Can't wait! I also know what you mean about 'hidden calories'. Especially when I was mindlessly eating every day. Now I pay attention and I'm SURE it's going to save me a lot. I hear a good trick too it to chew gum while you're cooking dinner...however this doesn't usually apply to me since I hate to cook...haha but I HAVE been cooking more since this program I started...I keep it simple tho. I love to grill TOO.

Tina
BBQ on the Beach would be IDEAL! haha

Yes - that's me on the beach. My beach.... (well, I like to CALL IT mine, LOL!) I live about 10 minutes from the beach, so I go quite often!

That pic was taken Aug 2005... when I was 3 pounds away from my goal weight... then I re-injured my shoulder & couldn't exercise for 12 weeks... and all thru 2006, I managed to gain back the weight I'd lost.... Waaaah. But I'm working on it again...!

Wow... we seem to have some things in common.... I hate to cook too! - that's part of MY problem in losing weight. I will never be one of those people who tries something new in a recipe to make it low-fat or whatever... I kinda have to rely on the basics... fruits, veggies, fish...

My hubby grills. . . . . does that count??

I couldn't live w/o coffee either, but I've cut back drastically on all the additives in there. With drip brews I only add a pack of Splenda and a splash of soy milk (and the occasional mix-in fiber).

When getting at an espresso bar (once every two weeks, about) I usually order an americano (espresso with water) with a shot of peppermint syrup (best 50-cent, 50-calorie investment EVER! ) and add in my own splashes of whole or non- fat milk, 100s of calories saved compared to getting a latte or a mocha or one of those frozen blended concoctions that can go up to 700 calories EACH!

I still plan on drinking coffee, limiting myself to 1 cup a day, 2 max (le sigh), but no daily trips to Starbucks. That has to stop! All the coffee intake screws with my calorie count.

Wish me luck!
Why don't you save the money you would have spent each day on Starbucks and then treat yourself at the end of the month. You'll probably be surprised how much you were spending.

I never know what to order at Starbucks so I stay clear.

I drink my coffee black at home and work - basically zero calories. When I have a latte, I have nonfat milk, no syrup, no sugar, etc. Various sites list 1 cup of nonfat milk as 83-90 cal for 8 oz. So a 16 oz latte has about 14 oz of milk (depending on how many shots of espresso), so it's about 160 cal (which, duh, is what Starbucks lists in their nutritional info). I don't do it everyday, and when I do, it's my morning snack, so well within my calorie limit for the day. No way am I giving up coffee!
