Default Exercise Guidelines For Women Established

Just saw this linked at Dr. Dean Edell's website. Interesting!!!

Exercise Guidelines for Women Established

Apparently the guidelines in use currently are based on MEN. As I've suspected for a LONG time - women ARE different; our fitness levels are lower on average than men's...our capacity declines more rapidly and women whose exercise capacity was less than 85 percent of what it should be were twice as likely to die within eight years.

I'm glad to see that the researchers are focusing on the differences between genders!

Wow...that 85% statistic is scary, Mrs. Jim. Doesn't leave much room to play with on exercise capacity. (16% at minimum!!!)

That being said, with more realistic exercise expectations for women, maybe women will be encouraged to meet these exercise goals. Hooray!
