What veggie do you STILL hate?

  • I have only ever eaten three vegetables: potatoes, beetroot, and baked beans (none of them greens you will notice!)
This really makes it hard to diet but all the others taste vile to me.
  • Tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Just hate the textures of them, but I will eat them if they are diced really fine!
  • Peas are awful. I always had trouble eating veggies growing up because I thought they were gross. I've learned to "tolerate" most of them. But I just can't do it with peas.
  • I haven't read all 31 pages, so forgive me if I'm duplicating (triplicating?) but there are quite a few veggies that I hate and everyone else loves. Also, I love what everyone hates.

Tomatoes, I hate with a flaming purple passion. Raw tomato gets picked off sandwiches and salads. If they are cooked into a soup or sauce, or ketchup, I can stomach the taste, but they are not friends with my stomach, if you know what I mean.

Also really really don't like corn, on or off the cobb.

Green peas. In elementary school a friend called them "martian turds" and it was over after that. Tried them over and over again as an adult, the taste just does not appeal to me. And also, so you will all think I'm crazy, I don't like snow peas (the kind you'll find in stir-fry?) because when they come out of the pod, guess what! Green peas!

Celery, yuck, unless cooked into a tasteless mush in soup.

Spinach, raw is delish, cooked is ewwwww and smells like wet dirt to me. Have to mix it into scrambled eggs to choke it down. Also don't like collard/mustard/turnip greens because they taste bitter.

Carrots, cooked or raw, thumbs down.

Now, give me all the cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, lima beans, bell peppers, rutabega and other things ya'll think are nasty and I'll eat like a queen. (Oh, and someone pass the Bean-o )
  • Suzanne, yep - green peppers are very bitter to me. I can smell when they are in something. My mom hates them too, so maybe it IS genetic. Like you, I do like red/orange/yellow bell peppers. But they're soooo much more expensive!
  • i used to hate brussel sprouts. only had a few times in childhood. now i like them roasted in evoo. but i think everything tastes better in garlic and olive oil.
still hate canned or homemade canned green beans. i learned to not mind them as a child w/butter. but as a teenager i realized so many canned veg. are terrible. anything freezer burnt. ugh. potatoes....oh i had boiled taters nearly every night. seriously. they told us kids to start peeling after school then when parents get home they'll figure out dinner. we really looked forward to noodles instead. i still think my love of pasta stems from that...
yeah, so i rarely buy russets ever. when i do make taters the only time i boil them is for tater salad. often bake it. idk why baked were so rare for us. they are no work. i usually get the golden kind, and can leave part of the skin on without family throwing a fit.
i'm determined to teach my kids about veggies. raw, cooked, frozen, fresh. one of my kids loves cooked carrots but not raw. hates tomatoes/sauce. but he likes my spaggetti the best(ha!) and hates the school's.
my other 2 kids eat cherry tomatoes like its grapes. and me too.
  • used to always say i hated lima beans too. i can eat them now. mil's succutash is actually pretty good.
love beets, i love cooked spinach and other types of greens. not sure what kind of greens i didnt like. kale was good cooked in minestrone. adds texture, most greens are mushy when cooked. i cant get enough carrots. i'm the only one that will touch cabbage, lentils, beans in general except bushes baked beans w/bbq. they'll eat it if i put sausage in it. bean soup for ex. but perfect to make lentil soup w/lots of veggies and chicken stock for myself. a meal for the whole week since no one else will eat it. ha!
i love chick peas. great in salad. love love hummus. sometimes my kids will eat that.
its amazing how 1 kid will hate something and the next loves it or doesnt care.
  • I loathe Brussels sprouts with a passion. They taste how the sludge out of a clogged drain smells.

I also don't like cucumber. I can stand a little in sushi rolls, and I like pickles, but raw slices of cucumber turn my stomach.
  • Mushrooms. I hate them.

    I love everything else.
  • Raw carrots. Snacking on baby carrots would be an immensely grueling chore.
  • Lima beans. Eeew. What is their purpose in this world?
  • Hmmm....veggies I can't stand...

    Beets: They just taste nasty!
Onions: Horrible flavor and smell! GROSS!
    Peppers: Same as onions!
Brussel Sprouts: Tastes like the smell of stinky feet. NASTY!
  • OK, not really a veggie, but.... I have never liked "fig newton bars". Bleah. Always was a disappointment as a kid to look for real cookies and only find a package of those in the house....
  • OMG yeah lima beans are just disgusting

As for vegetable I dont like, Brussel sprout is on top of it.

Other than that I am just really weird with my veggies. Some of them I only eat raw such as green pepper and some of them I only eat them cooked liek broccoli.
  • HI, green beans don't really like them.
