Default Bloated Vegetarian

I've been a vegetarian now for just over two weeks and I've been experiencing horrible bloating and stomach cramping. I take B-12, a daily vitamin, sometimes D3 and B-Complex supplements. Not sure what to do, as this is really bothersome. Any suggestions?

It's probably related to increased fiber, so increase more slowly. Also consider if you're eating fake meats that you didn't before - everyone's different - as an example, I'm fine eating tofu, but fake meats with TVP do a number on my gut. Finally, are you eating more of some type of sugar substitute, by chance?

I'm eating tofurkey slices, veggie slices and veggie burgers. Wondering if it's those.

I rarely eat fake meats, unless I make them myself and even then, it is only every few months. It could be those, it could be increased fiber, it could be a number of things.

Is there anything else new you are eating? Are you eating fruits? veggies? beans?

Oh yeah, lots of veggies and fruits and beans.

I had such horrible right side pain last night that I ended up in the er thinking maybe I had appendicitis or something. Thankfully, I don't, but no clue what's going on.

Are all those things new to you though? Or is there something specific that is new? You might also want to ask a doctor about an allergy test.

I am going through the same problem. Incredible bloating. I only eat fruits, veggies, nuts and beans.

Does it go away? I have had this bloated feeling for the last 3 days and I am on day 36 of "Eat to Live - Dr Fuhrman".

I have tried anti-gas Malox but doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

baking soda/beano should help. How are you cooking the beans? Anything different in the last 3 days?

I only have one cup of beans per day for now (Chick Peas/Black Beans). They are from a can and are already cooked.

Re the baking soda - I assume you drink some in water. How much per day? One teaspoon?

Thanks.

http://www.ehow.com/how_2210172_cure...king-soda.html Here is a site that says use lemon but I think you can just use baking soda.

I had the same problem. Turned out I had celiac disease. I stopped eating gluten (which is mostly what all of the fake meat products you described are made with) and I have never felt those pains again. It might be worth a check.
