The Great HALLOWEEN Challenge!

:stir: Anyone feeling tempted by the devil  chocolate cake? Or perhaps you feel  angelic until it comes to the weekend...

Join the HALLOWEEN challenge so that you can polish your halo come All Saint's Day ;)

There's exactly 7 weeks till Halloween - I'm aiming for 2lbs a week lost. Ambitious I know, but you gotta aim high!

I'm also aiming for a Brown Belt by Halloween - so I can scare the bejesus outta people

:wizard:

Neleh 09-12-2006 06:19 AM

I'll aim for 2 pounds a week then with you hehe. On holiday next week so it's going to be hard, but I'll have a go! :)

Starting weight 233!

BritinNJ 09-12-2006 07:12 AM

OK, I'm in, it's now or never and when I lost faithfully last time, I did six week challenges of 10 pounds in six weeks, so that my goal this tim...although we have seven. I can do this, no one else is going to do it for me!!

TEN POUNDS OFF FOR HALLOWEEN :)

veggie 09-12-2006 09:03 AM

Go on then if I have to! 2 pound a week. :frypan: :tantrum:

Jennig 09-12-2006 09:29 AM

Ok im in for this one :)

shmoo 09-12-2006 10:10 AM

YP1 09-12-2006 02:10 PM

OK, I'll go for being under 11 stone by halloween. Which is pretty much what I weighed last time I weighed myself (seems like weeks ago now though), but I might have put a pound or two on since then (I'm not sure that the reduction in running has been matched by a reduction in eating!), and the name of the game is maintenance anyway.

micheleherts 09-12-2006 03:14 PM

Well as much as I want to say I will be nine stone 7lbs that is probably way too optimistic, however I am going to aim to be by halloween nine stone 10lbs.
I am fluttering between nine stone thirteen and ten stone at the moment.

Merissa 09-12-2006 03:42 PM

I definitely need a mini goal to help me out....So I am in!

2lbs a week until Halloween!

lou1978 09-12-2006 03:48 PM

oh ya ya.. im in... that will put me in one-derland !.... OMG !!..
go girls !!!

2frustrated 09-13-2006 04:22 AM

Day one, doing well! I've completed my Blue Belt - I have the sheet for Brown Belt. It looks interesting easy, but a LOT to do, and of course, you have to do it ALL PERFECTLY!

Scales back down from a temporary blip - hopefully this morning's cycle will be doing some fat-burning and weight loss!

peacock 2 09-13-2006 07:39 AM

Okay |will do it from now (I really need to - I did not go to Slimming world last night - too darn tired). I know I have loads to lsoe so will try for 1-2lb a week.

veggie 09-13-2006 12:06 PM

I've given up on SW again. It's too expensive especially when you get no stickers. :p :frypan:

Mummy_Tummy 09-13-2006 12:52 PM

Ooooooooh, a stone by Samhain?! I can do that. And even if I just lose half that, I'll be well chuffed. Dude, I just said well chuffed.;) I've been living here toooooo long now, hehe.

Anyway, yeah, I need a motivator and Halloween (Samhain) is my absolute favorite night of the year, always has been. This is a good day to start, too because I weigh in at Fat Fighters (SW) tonight and can start fresh tomorrow. Hmmmm, a sexy little witchy temptress costume for the night if I make it to goal? Hubby will be pleased, hehe.

I've noticed several other Halloween challenges going on. Is this thread affiliated or is it its own? (twisted little sentence there)

redsoxgirl 09-13-2006 02:47 PM

Can I join you guys...I'm not a UK chick, I'm a Boston chick but I need a mini-goal.

In the last year and a half I've lost 25 lbs, down to 162 but I want to hit 140 very badly, so by Halloween I'm going to aim for at or below 155.

Chris, where on the Cape are you???? I'm down there all the time.

2frustrated 09-14-2006 03:48 AM

This is our own little UK Halloween challenge... But I may have been inspired by other threads

Redsoxgirl - you can join us! :welcome:

Scales doing a number on me today. Bah! Want to eat carbs! Bah! baaaa baaaaa :moo:

Mummy_Tummy 09-14-2006 05:19 AM

Does carrot cake count as 1 of our 5 a day? If it does, I'm well set for the day.:o :D Stopped in the bakery to get some wholemeal bread and doncha know, the carrot cake was fresh from the oven. It's my weakness and I indulged. Although, I had just spent an hour power walking so I'm feeling good about that. I stayed the same at SW last night from the previous week. I think I actually lost half a pound but they only measure in whole pounds now. Bleh. At least I didn't gain.

MUST MUST MUST start weight training again. That's my goal for next week. I've tried to ease back into exercise after a lazy summer. I've started with the walking (one good reason to have the kids back in school!).

I may lose some ground this week because Friday, Saturday and Monday, hubby and I are on our Intro to Fostering course. I have no idea what they're serving at the lunch provided. It's usually a selection of sandwhiches and satay sticks, isn't it?:D I'm more worried about whether I'll be able to fit in any exercise those 3 days. Either I get up extra early or I do it in the evenings, which I've never been successful at. Usually for me, if it doesn't get done first thing in the mornings, it just doesn't get done! Wish me luck!

Mummy_Tummy 09-14-2006 05:27 AM

Oooh, I just realized...I should probably outline my plan and my goals.

- Power walking 5 days a week, Mon-Fri (I walk for an hour at a very fast clip but am not sure how many miles it actually is)
- re-introduce weight training 3 days a week, MWF
- Sun Salutation (yoga) as part of my morning devotional, making sure I have the time for meditation
- Pleasurable week end exercise, like cycling down to the seafront (NOT for a Rossi's cone, though!)
- More emphasis on whole foods and water because I absolutely need all the extra fiber I can get in my diet
- Journal what I eat
- MUST keep Pepsi intake to just 1 a day (I have come to the conclusion that I simply cannot give it up so I limit to 1 a day. I actually lost my first stone by doing this)

redsoxgirl 09-14-2006 06:08 AM

Thanks for the welcome.....

OK why am I up a pound today...ate well yesterday, went to the gym did an hour of cardio and weight training in a class, 15 minutes on the stair master, and then took spinning.....frigging scale.

Hi Redsoxgirl,

I;m in a place called Mashpee...heard of it? Just been here not quite three weeks, so don't know everywhere, but we're settling in pretty well so far :)

Well done on your loss so far, maybe I need you to run down here and beat me with a baseball bat, and keep me on track

Let me know when you're down this way, we could get together.

veggie 09-14-2006 09:18 AM

My plan is... I may be joining WW  next week. Until then I will just try to cut down and not eat junk.

kalijack 09-14-2006 09:20 AM

Can I join in? Im getting married right after Halloween and my wedding dress doesnt fit at the mo
I just started Xenical yesterday, also need to do more exercise!

veggie 09-14-2006 02:19 PM

Of course. All are welcome :D (unless Frus has a secret list of people she doesn't want to take part :p ).

Clareh 09-14-2006 02:37 PM

Can I join please... I'm going to Barcelona on the 29th for a break to see OH who will be working out there. I've not been posting for a few months, but am calorie counting and exercising like a loon because..... when drunk OH told me that if rings weren't so expensive he'd propose there. This could be bittersweet (hope not as he's a very very good guy) and have told him that would be happy with a hula- hoop instead. Anyway, if he doesn't I'd like to look good to be back on the singles market!! ;)

I am officially going to be the heaviest size 12 out there as am still 167 but am now in size 12 jeans. I'm not sure what my challenge goals will be except focus, keep up the exercise and shift some fat. It would be nice for the scales to drop, and I'm hoping that the weight training raises my metabolism so I am a fat burning machine. :strong:

redsoxgirl 09-14-2006 07:25 PM

Chris..

Mashpee is really nice....

Have you been here for shopping....I hear its great.

http://www.mashpeecommons.com/

Ate OK today, no gym because I worked all day (I'm a special education teacher) and then I had class tonight, I just got home and am happy on the couch.

Hope everyone else had a good day...

Lisa

2frustrated 09-15-2006 03:49 AM

 Everyone's welcome ;)

Doing ok - I think I need to throw my scales away! Or maybe they need a new battery! :chin: Or maybe it's just me!

Anyway, worked out like made last night, ate ok - have hardly any appetite today which is wierd. I didn't want breakfast, but managed to force down some cornflakes with chocolate protein shake (sounds disgusting, tasted FAB!)

Vix78 09-15-2006 04:36 AM

I's like to join too please - I aim to lose 1lb per week.

So 7lb by Halloween.

Good luck everyone!

Clareh 09-15-2006 03:40 PM

Hope you're all having a great start to the weekend.

Ever since I set my challenge things have been happening to trip me up (I went to the gymn after work and forgot my bottoms so couldn't work out, and OH, who is away Monday to Friday then suggested a walk down the canal to the pub- who could say no to that)

MUST TRY HARDER!

Luckymom1 09-15-2006 03:50 PM

Please let me in tooo. I really want to try. I am Luckymom1. Everyone seems to be so friendly. I'll try 2 lb a week. I will use my pedal machine. Still sedentary because of illness. By the way I am from Almost Heaven West Virginia, USA. You UK girls know how to pace yourself. Conservative goals are good for the spirit. I am at 225 check in with you weekly.

redsoxgirl 09-19-2006 06:01 AM

How is everyone doing? Somehow I hit 161 today, I haven't exercised since Saturday because I've been sick. Yesterday I came home from school and had a huge bowl of ice cream but no dinner.

How I lost a pound I have no idea but I'll take it.

Feeling better today so may go to spinning later.

6 lbs to my Halloween goal.....

peacock 2 09-19-2006 06:03 AM

Oh Dear! FOr a minute I thought that was your age!!!! I thought Hmm someone is doing something right!!!

2frustrated 09-19-2006 06:03 AM

Hmmm I'm feeling like this lbs lost thing was a bad idea for me! The scales seem to be almightily stuck! I think I'm shrinking a bit though! YAY!

Clareh 09-19-2006 04:16 PM

Woo hoo! Down to 165.5 for 2 consecutive days in a row. If my tracker had been telling the truth that wouldn't be so good but it was definitely about 167 last week

And I've also spent a total of 4.5 hours at the gymn since Sunday (6 if you count Saturday) Sad cow that I am. If I'd spent that time doing Linguaphone I could've learned a language.

Frus- ignore the pounds, it's the inches that matter. I just don't want to be so heavy so I can run without battering my ankles with my massive weight.

Hope everyone is having a challenging challenge- because the page changed, I read everyone's comments and have promptly forgotten them to comment back.

positively poots 09-20-2006 04:50 AM

I'd like to join here if I may? As of Monday I moved onto the slimfast plan, I know it's not the best diet in the world health wise but I am a compulsive over eater so making myself stick to just shakes until evening gives me more control. I'm hoping to train myself off the continual snacking.

I'd like to lose a stone by halloween, that should be managable if I stick to the plan and if not then it's still a move in the right direction.

I weigh in on Mondays.

BigBird77 09-20-2006 06:33 AM

Hi Positively poots,

I am doing something very similar to SlimFast but mine is all liquid for every meal and I you stick to it for 100 days (about 14 weeks).

The results so far have been amazing 39lbs in 8 weeks, and I still have 6 weeks to go.

I always think the hardest thing to do is make a commitment to lose weight and stick with it.

veggie 09-20-2006 10:47 AM

I've lost 3 out of the 14 I want to lose (if only I had just 14 to lose!) and 5 more weigh ins (I may have to stretch Halloween to a day later to have 6 weigh ins :p ) so I think I can actually do it. Maybe. ;)

positively poots 09-20-2006 03:09 PM

That's great BigBird - I was tempted by lighter life but I would have had to -gain- 3lbs to be accepted and it is very expensive as we don't tend to eat out and shop frugally. I also have kidney problems so ketosis would be damaging. Your results sound fab though! Well done.

Great going Veggie - extending by a day sounds like a good idea although by the sound of things you'll not need it. :)

YP1 09-20-2006 03:10 PM

11 stone on Monday. That's OK, I actually thought I'd gained more the way I've been eating recently.

lou1978 09-20-2006 03:54 PM

3 down .... 11 to go...

Vix78 09-21-2006 06:38 AM

Well I started again at my weigh in on Monday (see my seperate thread about that). I'm still going to aim for 7lb by 31st October. So, 0lbs lost 7lbs to go!
