LighterLife buddies required!!!!!!
Hellooo everyone :D
I've just discovered this site by doing a google under "lighterlife".. I'm looking for LighterLife buddies to chat to and support one another on this wonderful but difficult diet! Love to hear from you - I'm only in week 2 but already lost 11 lbs so I'm absolutely DELIGHTED!! Sarah xx |
hi sarah! you've done really well!! I've lost 9 pound in 2 weeks and am really chuffed! week 3 weigh in is looming!! tell me you're not the sarah from the warrington class though!!!! if you are i'm sue!
|
Hiya Doods :)
No I'm Sarah from Rugby!! You're doing super well too - well done you! What in particular are you not enjoying (need I ask hehe). I have found the first week very difficult as I have had massive withdrawal symptons from carbs - really shaky and no energy at all (and with 2 small children that's really hard to cope with!). But now I'm feeling absolutely brilliant, really healthy and happy that I'm taking control of my eating problems. |
hey there! first week is the hardest!! once you're over that hurdle you'll be much better. I was really dizzy and no energy for the first 3 days but it got better. i'm suprised how not hungry I am! it hasn't stopped me snacking though, thats the bit I find so hard! what about you?
|
hey sue
are you snacking, as in eating conventional foods? i haven't eaten or drunk anything other than the LL stuff, so far so good (although believe me the temptation has been there!!). i'm supposed to be going out with friends next week for a meal and drinkies at the pub, don't really know what to do about it as i can't bear the thought of going and not eating/drinking and having to watch them eat, yet I don't want to cancel it either! not very sociable is it?! to be honest, i think if i start snacking now i would probably crack, it's easier just to be completely abstinent (i think?!!) |
Hi and welcome, I'm pretty new round here too, good to see other new people. I found that if I drink the half sugar Bacardi Breezer when I'm with friends I can regulate how many calories I'm taking in (I'm a calorie counter).
Remember that its important to have fun, and not to make yourself unhappy because you're forcing yourself to not eat or drink certain things, moderation is a great thing, especially when it allows an occasional treat. But that's not to say you should go over the top and eat everything you want hehe. |
hi again, yes snacking on normal food, been quite bad this week actually. back on the wagon after a party today! I did manage to go out for a meal the other week though with work and not eat which was weird but ok!!
I think the more you stick to it the faster the weight will come off so I'm being silly really....just can't help myself sometimes! I've not gone really mad but the odd choccy bar or bowl of cereal!! worth it!! |
Yes I definitely think you're right, if you stick to the plan you will lose weight quicker. I have now managed to go 13 days of complete abstinence (weigh in tomorrow night yikes!) and am absolutely AMAZED at myself! My friends can't believe I'm still doing it (which is a great feeling!).
The urge to "eat" is still very strong, especially in social environments, but I just know that if I start I will find it very difficult to stop picking at things. I'm going to try and stay completely abstinent for as long as possible. Keep me posted about your weight-ins etc.. how much have you lost per week? (you must be at the end of week 3 now aren't you?) My email addy is [email protected] if it's easier to keep in touch that way, it's good to have support!? Sarah x |
I looked at the website for lighter life but never got any further than that. i was wondering how much and things it was?. .. can anyone help me with that?.. im looking for anything to control my cravings at the minute and WW isnt helping at all. i seem to go over on my points almost every day.. only by one or two.. but its not good really. .. ive got 6 1/2 stone to lose in the next year.
|
Hi guys,
I've just registered so that I can chat to people on here. I too am doing lighterlife - just entering week 4. So far I have lost 18lbs this is definately more that I have lost on any other diet in teh last couple of years. I look forward to chatting with everyone about their experiences with lighterlife :) |
Hiya BigBird!
I also am in week 4, my weigh-in counselling sessions are on Monday evenings how about you? I also noticed that you're 5'11.5, I am 5'11 so we're quite close in height. How much do you weigh and what are you trying to lose (if you don't mine me asking?!)? I was 14.11, now 13.6 so have lost 19lbs on LL so far. Hoping to get down to about 11.5 or 12. Would love to chat! Sarah |
Hi Sarah,
My god another tall girl - there seems to very few of us around unless you live in London! My starting weight was 15st 8lbs and I am hoping to loose around 4 stone or get down to about 11.5. Mind you it all depends how much I have lost after the 100 days, not sure I could face another month if I havent lost it all. How are you finding it so far? Hope to speak to you soon. Michelle (BigBird) |
Well I'm finding it ok except the odd occasion for example I had to go to a dinner party last night where they were all eating my fave meal and guzzling wine, so that was quite difficult. But I'm finding myself stronger every day. People are also becoming a lot more positive about the diet now that they can see how well I look and feel.
Much easier than being on a "normal" diet were you have so many temptations, at least this way it's the all of nothing method - works best for me anyway :D How about you? If it's easier to chat by email, here's by address: [email protected] Sarah |
Hi Sarah,
I have just dropped you an email :) |
hi all, how's everyone doing?
i've got to be honest and say i've been cheating big time. I went away last week and totally came off it and have been having the odd biscuit and choccy bar! ....was quite good yesterday then ended up going out and drinking all night! I knew I would never stick to it all the way through but i'been really crap recently. Need to get back on the wagon. I think I am in week 5 now and have lost my first stone on the diet, so 1 stone 9 in all. I was so pleased!! I've started to fit into all the clothes I had packed away that were really tight and am feeling much happier. Didn't really what a big impact it would have on me!!! |
well you're doing bloomin well considering you're not sticking 100% to the plan hun.. well done you! so you've lost 23lbs in 4 weeks? i've lost 19lbs in 3 weeks and have stuck to it religiously so please don't feel bad!! weigh-in tomorrow night so interesting to see what i've lost in week 4.
keep us posted! x |
Oh I heard about lightlife, my best friends mums doing it and has already lost something around 84 pounds and have dropped 4 dress sizes and has only been doing it for 6 weeks. I am going to have to try it, sounds to good to be true though!

LighterLife - New comer
Hi All
My name is Bex and I started lighterlife last Tuesday evening (my first session and food replacement started Wednesday), I had a stop-in with the counsellor on Sat early morning to find out that I have lost 5.3lbs! :dizzy: I am totally amazed! I can't wait for tomorrow night to see what the total weightloss for the first week is going to be. So far I am coping without food well and seeing as it has been a busy week of important family birthdays which has meant meals out and pubs watching other people eat hasn't been to bad but maybe that's because I am in the highly motivated zome at the moment! - Hope this doesn't change???!!! For those of you who are doing exceptionally well (and well done to you all!) and have been on this for a little while - do you get sick of the taste of the meal packs? and do you have any suggestions as to how the packs can be prepared to make them different/interesting? Bex |

Hi everyone!
Well I start lighter life tomorrow, first meeting tonight. Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am sure i must be mad, no proper food for 100 days (lol actually its 93 because i am joining the group a week late hehehehe). Anyway I am very excited, I cant wait to get controll of my weight and the losses you guys are reporting sound fab. I have about 4 stone to lose and am also another tall girl at5'11. Heres to a skinny me at christmas, and shopping in the January sales.:carrot: Katiex |
Yea another tall girl :)
Here's to all of us being nice and slim for christmas. Ooo if anyone wants some ideas on what else you can do with your food packs have a look at this guys blog: http://mylighterlife.iblog.com/category/247/1608 The crisps are good as are the cookies. You have to remember however that you can only "cook" one food pack a day. My weigh in for the end of week 4 is tonight so keep your fingers crossed for me. Sarah how did you do last night? |
You are making me feel short at 5ft 8 !
I am going onto your blog in a mo Michelle looking forward to the recipes and your 4 weeks so far. Good luck for tonight! I have my first weigh-in tonight after a week, had the stop-in on saturday which was a real boost and I could not believe my eyes when I saw the scales. Although have to stay that I am a little nervous about tonight; I have been very strict and averaging 5ltrs of water a day (though getting fed up with weeing at 3am!) however I have 'come on' today ! I am pleased I have resisted the usual delights on the lead up ti this time of the month - boy it has been tough especially this morning when I have had 3 of my food packs by 1pm! Look forward to hearing how Katie got on in her first meeting and Michelle for your 4th week! |
Hellooo everyone, gosh there are so many of us buddies now I can't keep up with who is who!!!
Good luck to the newbies and good luck to those with iminent weigh-ins! I had my 4th weigh-in last night and lost another 4lbs.. that's a grand total of 23lbs in 4 weeks. Needless to say I am absolutely delighted and feel FANTASTIC!! My counsellor has said that I probably won't be staying for the full 14 weeks which is great as we're going to be moving away from the area at about 10/12 weeks anyway so am hoping to go straight onto the management stage when we move house. Someone asked do you ever get bored of the foodpacks.. for me, no is the answer to that. There are recipes so you can make them a bit more interesting but to be honest I don't find it a problem anyway. Anyway, good luck with your weigh-ins everyone and can't wait to hear how you've done!! Sarah xxx |
Sarah that's fantastic. I will post tomorrow and let everyone know how I get on tonight.
This weekend is going to be tough as I am helping out at a festival - lovel porta loos and camping :} |
:cheer: In my first week I have lost 8.1lbs!!!!! wow what a boost this is to continue and get into that slinky party dress for Christmas! Got my pedometer today so need to get my butt into action to do 10000 steps a day, I think the number of loo visits will help :o
Hope the rest of you got on well at your weigh-ins last night...... |
Well done Bex! Thats a fantastic loss, I hope I am saying soemthing similar next week!! And you too Sarah thats a fantastic amount.
I went to my first meeting yesterday and it was coolio, I got weighed and measured and got my first food packs. All my group seem lovely and they were very positive. So far this morning I have drunk 2 L of water, Had a rasberry shake and done about a hundred wees. Roll on next Tuesday! How did you do last night Big Bird? Katiex |
Hi girls,
I too have just started lighter life and while searching the web came across you lot - what a find!!! It's great to find some additional support! I'm nearing the end of day 2 and am already beginning to hate the soups but hey ho it's a means to an end and it's got to be done!!!!! Is everyone else running to the loo every 20 minutes - it's ok at the minute as i'm off work and having a bit of a spring clean and tidy up so i'm in the house or pretty near but i don't think i'll be able to drink as much at work - i'll have to keep running out of meetings for the loo! I've got my first pop in on fri night and i'm hoping after 4 full days that i'm in ketosis and have lost a few pounds. Not looking forward to the smelly breath mind and hope it's not too bad. Hope you all do well this week - hugs and kisses to us all for been so bloody brave as to do this! |
Hi guys,
Just a quick update before I am off to the lovel world of porta loos and tents for a long weekend. I had my weigh in last night and lost anothe 4lbs so thats 22lbs in 4 weeks :) Hopefully I will be only a pond or two off after next weeks weight off lossing 2 stone :) I hope everyone has a good weekend and I will post again in a weeks time. Michelle |
Hi Suzie, its good to have another buddy! I just began day two and like you for the first time in my life keep wondering when my breath will get smelly. I brought a goldspot from Superdrug, it was about 99p, and I cant wait to need to use it lol!!!
Big Bird your weight loss is fantastic, well doe you must be soo chuffed with yourself. Good luck drinking all your water and using those lovely porterloos!!!! Well so far I have discovered I like Rasberry, and Vanilla shakes, had a chocolate one hot and it was okay but not great. The chicken soup was a bit yuck, no matter how much I blended it i couldnt get all the lumps out and then it went all frothy on the top too so that made it not very hot. How do you guys make yours? Yesterday I went to a water park with my nieces and nephews we stayed in the water for 3 and a half hours and when we got out they all had a Mcd's and i was actually salivating but managed to stick to my chicken soup! Well I am at work today on a late so it should be fun trying to discretly make up my packs. Oooooooo I just want this first week over!!! Katiex |
Hello Ladies
Sounds like everyone is doing really well, those that of you that have been on it a while longer are a total inspiration - keep up the good work! I am in my second week, I found on the first few days of the first week everything was great and easy, then I got to the point I could not stomach chilli soup or rasberry shakes ...strange as these two flavours are normally my favourite :?: I will go back to them again and see how I get on. With regards to the soup; I make mine in an oversized mug, put the powder in, boil the kettle then add a little bit of water to the powder to make a paste and keep adding a little and mixing until it is a runny paste then add the rest of the water to taste. See if that works for you. I don't use any blending type device for the soups but I do for the shakes. I was warned about stinky breath and I am constantly armed with 'gold spot' mouth spray in my bag...however I have not needed it yet..I think! mind you could kick in soon. Once you girls have had your first stop-in then this will really boost you and makes the sacrafice worth while, and I am ever hopeful that being on this will permanently stop my old habbits of grazing throughout the day! I have a pedometer as of my second meeting and need to do 10,000 steps a day...hmmm....didn't realise how much I didn't move in the day at work I only managed 6,000 steps yesterday and most of those were from taking the dog out for a walk in the evening! but the good news is that I have managed just over 4.5k steps so far today (but I did take the dog out this morning and planning to tonight, which means he will get another 1-2 walks a day on top of his 3 walks already....he's already fit and healthy unlike one of his owners!) I have to say that I thought going to the loo so many times a day would be a boost to the number os steps, but then my office isn't that big and the loo isn't that far...which is a good thing sometimes!:o Anyway I think I have gone in to ramble mode....sorry! Good luck for the week and stick at it it works :D |
Gosh we really all are obsessed with the smelly breath aren't we!!!
I'm struggling a bit with the soups and can't wait to be able to get the bars tomorrow at my stop in - yippee!! I'm okay on the shakes - can you do just shakes and bars? Think i read in one of the books that you had to have minimum 2 soups a day!!! That is gonna be the hard bit for me. I'm suprised at how unhungry I feel although I have had a couple of headaches over the last couple of days but feel fine today. my tummy does feel a little flatter though - not that it's anything like flat but you girls know what I mean, hopefully that bodes well for my first weigh in tomorrow - yikes!! Good luck for the rest of the week girls - and remember if tempted - "nothing tastes as good as been thin feels" (think i pinched that from one of the numerous slimming clubs i've done over the years) |
Hiya ladies
Well done everyone you're all doing brilliantly! Just wanted to write to say that you don't have to have soups at all, I didn't until I made the crisps (oh my goodness they are delicious!! thai chilli with a few drops of tabasco sauce dropped in yom!!). My counsellor told me she has one lady who just has 28 chocolate shakes every week :dizzy: I'm feeling absolutely fantastic, I've dropped from a size 18 to a size 12-14 in almost 5 weeks and am just gobsmacked that A) I've done it B) how great I feel!! I am now back to my pre-children weight, but would love to be pre-wedding weight now which would be an all over size 12. Because I'm so tall, if I go any thinner I tend to look too skinny. My counsellor has said that it's doubtful I'll need to stay for the whole 14 weeks yipppeeeeee!! Although I will absolutely definitely do the maintenance course. For anyone not sure how to make crisps, muffins, biscuits, etc. see the link that someone posted above (it's someone called Mike's diary blog, it's really very helpful) or post on here and I'll tell you how to do it!! Take care everyone and will chat again soon! Sarah xxxx |
WOW Sarah that is amazing I do so want the same to happen to me!
|
oh it will hunni, as long as you stick to the programme it's guaranteed :D
Woooohooooo for Lighterlife!!!! Just having a hot mocha chocolate (hot choc shake with a tsp of coffee) lovely! |
Evening Ladies,
well done sarah! 5 weeks and 2 1/2 dress sizes down - hope I can do the same! Just had my first weigh in and I've lost 11 pounds in 4 days - wow! I've never lost that amount of weight on a conventional diet before - here's hoping to the stone mark on monday night. I got only shakes today and don't need to have soups if i don't like them - yippee!!! Looking forward to getting the bars next week for work. So much easier! Have a great weekend all!!!! |
Wow Sarah - that is fantastic! You must be soooooo chuffed. I will keep thinking of that in my wobbely moments.
Suzie 11lbs you must be well happy, i would be dancing on the celling if that were me!:carrot: :carrot: . I cant wait to get the bars too, i really need to chew on something. today is the end of day three for me and it hasnt been too bad but I have had some really really hungry moments. The weekend will be hard too because I am going to London and I am not sure how i will make up my packs. Right now I cant say I feel overly confident of being able to stick this for more than a few weeks. I will give it my best shot though and hope that the weight losses are good and spur me on. Anyway Have a lovely weekend all. Love Ktx |
WOW well done Suzie, bet you're really really happy!!
Katie you've made the biggest step and started.. I absolutely promise you that the first week is the worst, after that you just start feeling better and better (and slimmer and slimmer lol!). You keep at it and you're going to feel on top of the world, so much so that the desire to keep feeling so great will outweigh the desire to eat conventional food. YOU GO GIRL!! Have a great weekend everyone. Sarah xx |
Hi
I've been on the Lighter Life programme for 23 weeks and have lost 93lbs I'll be going onto management in a couple of weeks :carrot: For those of you that have just started this is honestly the best diet i've done and believe me i've been on a few over the years so keep going I was a size 24:eek: and 234lbs in March Now i'm a size 12 and nearly at my target. I look and feel like a totally new woman. I'm more confident and the joy of going into shops like Morgan & Jane Norman in unbeatable. |
What a lovely post!! Thanks for writing wilderhoney, that was very motivational. Just wondering.. in all that time have you followed the plan religiously or have you strayed at all? I ask because we're going on holiday next week for 2 weeks and I'm taking my packs obviously but a tiny part of me wonders if I might succomb to a glass of wine or something.. I think I would let myself down if I did - what do you think?
|
I have to say if I had the money to do LL the thought of 23 weeks and 93lbs lost would be tempting. ;) :) Oh and if I had the willpower to stick to it!
