Homersmummy - seriously, once you are in the pool NOBODY can see your body - and most people are too busy doing their lengths to have the time to look anyway.
Like I said before, the only person I really notice is the one person who makes a big deal about covering up. She wears this long skirt thing to get in to the pool and then does this sort of contortion to take it off, then swims, then does the whole thing in reverse to get out. There is nothing more noticeable in a swimming pool than someone who is fully dressed! Go for it - the embarrassment will last for a moment or two for the first time you go in to the pool - after that you will realise that there's nothing to be worried about. Remember - those of us giving this advise have all been there, done that. |

We had two lovely tortoiseshells - one was a rescue cat and the other was a railway cat! All her white bits were black from living on the railway! Awwwww! They came clean though :D I'm doing "Precision Nutrition" Which is scarily like Atkins - but healthy! So it's fairly low-carb, ie no bread, pasta, brown rice, oats, ANYTHING like that, UNLESS it's a post-workout meal! :faint: Luckily for me, some days I work out 3 times! :D LOTS of veggies - you have to have veggies with every meal (mental image of me sucking on an alfafa sprout for breakfast!) and lean protein at every meal - which is every 2-3 hours! :D :T Oh and supplementing with fish-oils 6g a day. I'm feeling lots healthier already! I'm kinda modifying it slightly, even before I've given it a chance! Because some days I want cereal for brekky and some days (like if I'm doing a long run) I want some carbs before I hit the road. But apart from that I'm trying to follow it to a T. It's got loads of shake recipes, which I have yet to try, and protein bar recipes too. It's costing me a fortune in fruit and veg though *sigh* it seems to be working though.... :crossed: Yesterday had a rest day - ie lying in bed all day! :D spent 4 hours asleep in the middle of the day! :D Been out for a run this morning, and like Helen and Sarah, I just ran out of steam! But at least I went and burned some fat off  Going to the gym at lunch to shred some muscle, then I have my little kickboxers tonight. Hopefully more than 3 people show up!! :censored: I'm going to start handing out flyers - a bit like BOGOF! Bring a friend for free! I suppose I'd better get on with something.... TTFN |
We had a tortie and white cat (Some call them calico). She was gorgeous. We called her footso (clumsy cat). We bought her from a petshop but my mum reckoned she was the granddaughter of her cat that her Dad got froma building site. She was feral and lived in the greenhouse amongst the tomato plants. Footso herself loved it in there but she was affectionate , loved lying on my parents' bed and would 'stalk' my dad sliding up the bed to get to his scrambled egg. So funny! We used to have bovril (my pre veggie days) - she would go bonkers for it! She had her funny turns though. I was on the phone once and she attacked my ankles. It really hurt. Yet othertimes you could put her in the dolls pram and she would put up with it!
When we got another cat (I brought home a stray) she wasn't that bothered yet a lot of torties do not 'share' their humans. |
I once had a tortoiseshell kitten which put my ex-DH in hospital. It was his fault for sitting on the side of the bed with nothing on... you know what kittens do to dangling balls of wool - well, she did it with certain very delicate parts of ex-DH's anatomy. He probably still bears the scars. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. (Not that I'm bitter or anything!)
I've got a dog which, when he's annoyed or upset with me, sits facing in to the corner and sighs until someone comes to find out whats wrong with him. |
Morning all.
Never had a tortoiseshell, but have two mad cats and two mad dogs. Sarah, your dogs sound so well behaved! My :censored: dogs yesterday were such . I took them out with me for my run, but after running for only a couple of minutes I had to give up. They were so badly behaved, they have never behaved that badly with me before. The puppy (Josh - 10 months) disappeared off towards the horizon and bypass so I'm trying to get him back when the older dog (Barney) goes into a ditch with black, stinking, ooze in it and wouldn't then come out. After graduating from sweet and exciting tone of voice, through firm to completely loosing my temper after 20minutes I sat down on the path, put my head in my hands and promptly burst into tears . Thankfully this proved interesting enough for Josh to return to me so I just put him on the lead and started walking home. After a while, Barney realises I've left him and follows me so I caught him too. In the end I had Barney on the lead walking way in front of me, and Josh on a belt so that neither of us would have to go near Barney. He was black (previously was a mostly white springer spaniel) and the mud had a consistency of custard so it took three applications of shampoo to get it all off. I was not impressed with either of the :censored: Other than that I had a good weekend, although I am  that I weighed 2lbs less yesterday morning than today :tantrum: Congrats on the shorts Kykaree, and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with legs that just won't tan! :dizzy: |
I love cats we had Sooty when we were very small and when he died my three brothers and I slept in our parents bed and cried all night. We then got Mr Cat who we had for some time but ran away or something awful happened to him we never found out. We never got another cat. My parents have Kitty the cat
after showing my mum and dad what looked like in my new dress before I headed off to a party. My mother said to me the a couple of days afterwards I loved your dress and so did Kitty!!! My day off today. It's another scorcher. I am going to laze about all day. I'm great at it. Last night two friends and I and Ken went for a lovely walk. We were walking through this field when out of nowhere there appeared a horse it was like a scene from lost very surreal. Ken went bonkers I don't think he'd seen a horse before we were worried he'd get a kick in the head and kill him stone dead. We got Ken back and then another horse appeared then a foal. We decided to go the other way then. The scales showed ten stone 2 and a bit this morning so everything still downward. I'm just about to go and have egg on toast. Have a good day everyone Michele xx SW 14 stone 10 lbs CW 10 stone 2 lbs and a bit! GW 9 stone 7 lbs maybe lower if I can |
George (5) used to be a monster and when he was younger I've had to go get him back from a couple of police stations after he'd done a runner. I actually gave up walking him at one point because I couldn't manage him on a lead - he pulled a lot and he is so strong he pulled me over. Finally I took him to get trained. Best thing I ever did - walks are a delight now. The trainer said NEVER run after a dog, they think its a game and will run away from you or round you in circles. The best thing to do is turn away, stand still and ignore them. It confuses them and they come to see what you're doing. If you have to run, then run in the opposite direction and they'll run after you. Always have a pocket full of rewards and reward EVERY time they respond to an imperitive command (i.e. one their/your life could depend on like HERE, STAY and STILL) - and practice lots and lots but only reward if they do it right on the first command. Fred - 21 months - just sort of copied George - but then Fred is the clever one, he knows that if I get the :censored: that nobody gets any treats of any kind at all - all day.
Actually, mine don't like me running very much. They think there is something wrong and panic/get excited and keep trying to run sideways in front of me so they can look me in the face to find out whats wrong. They don't mind a slow jog so much. The problem I have at the moment is with (male) runner or joggers. When they run/jog towards me the dogs think I'm about to be attacked so they put themselves between me and the attacker/runner to protect me, raise their hackles and snarl. Not a pretty sight! |
I am at work, and having a lovely day. I need to start getting back on track with the weight loss thing, I'm just cruising along, and not caring enough! I did manage to avoid fudge, chocolate and other delights at the Lakes!!!
I'm just getting lazy with snacks, and not preparing enough, my meals are still healthy, it's what's happening in between that's the problem! |
Phwaarrrr - I just had my aerobics class and Anita, the instructor, is off sick (doesn't inspire much confidence, does it??) So the manager of the local leisure centre stood in for her.... and he turned out to be the lifeguard from the swimming pool with the amazing, tanned legs. Bonus! Not only did I get a great (and totally different) workout but I also spent an hour and a quarter staring at those legs... and all for £1.20!
|
What a bargain - legs for £1.20 ;)
The stupid Bournemouth thing is still stupid! Lee has booked my room, or is going to, or anyway he's rung up to see how much it is. THEN I get a text mesasge from the guy who is really against "us" going, "Oh it's been a lads weekend for a long time we just want to get away from our wives and girlfriends" Yuh huh - soooooo perhaps I want to get away from my SO???? :censored: - head so I had to ring Lee and find out what the **** was going on, but it's still ok, I'm still going, I'm not replying to the text, he can get a nice surprise on Saturday!  |
I think that VERY late Friday night I'd text him back and say 'looking forward to seeing you tomorrow'.
What a bunch of macho idiots - I don't think I could cope with that attitutude at all. I told DH about the tanned muscular legs... and he's gone to do a LBWO! :lol3: I feel like I've been runover by a steam roller - and I'm STARVING even though I've had a nice dinner. Makes me wonder how many calories I burned off during aerobics today. |
I've had a nice evening so far, sitting in the garden with nice food, finishing off a good book. I'm half considering going for a walk before the sun goes down properly, but might just stay in and attempt to do some jobs round the house. I'm not particularly looking forward to my run tomorrow, my knee has been playing up all day and I suspect it's going to be HOT. I tried to do some exercises to strengthen my knee at the gym this morning, so hopefully it will react OK to those, and if I set out early enough the run won't seem too bad. I knew training for a marathon over summer would be a bad idea! (still it keeps me out of beer gardens when I think about the fact that I have to get up in the morning...)

Ooh, I'm in a better mood now. I've logged my "disaster" of a run and it was actually a mile longer than I thought (10 miles rather than 9), and therefore my pace was far closer to what I was aiming for than I'd calculated, despite the lengthy walk breaks. It wasn't a good run by any means, but not as bad as I thought, and it's still miles under the belt (only 1 mile shorter than scheduled).
Tomorrow is 5 miles so I should be able to do that without too many problems, although I'm planning on getting up half an hour earlier than normal so it is hopefully cooler. I'm feeling a bit more enthusiastic about it than I was, at least! |
Hooray for unexpected miles ;)
Sarah - I am still going, it's just this one guy who's a :censored: He actually sent me another text JUST before I was due to take "his" old class that set me off blubbing to the toilets. I tried to ring Lee to see if I was still "allowed" to go, since this text made it clear that I wasn't wanted there (at least by him). Couldn't contact Lee till after class, but had a good cry down the phone, so I think he may get that I'm a tad upset about this whole thing! I'm still going, Lee's still ok with it, everyone else is apart from this one guy, so Lee says he's told this guy either come, with me going, or don't come and you won't get your money back! We'll see what happens. I think he should grow up IMHO!!!! I was seriously thinking about quitting after this last message, but it IS just this one guy, so I'll just hate him! And Lee is trying to please everyone and not having a back bone! Oh and I'm still going and just ignoring his texts and I'll see his face on Saturday, he obviously has some sort of girl-problem (I'd say so, judging by his current relationship(s)) [/rant] Anyway, so I came home and cooked my salmon, then played some LOUD meatloaf and tried on my feckin :hot: corset (real one here, laces up the back and everything!) that I'm going to wear on Saturday night  Then I wanted to eat chocolate, so I made myself a choccie protein shake and promptly sprayed it all over the walls! Hooray for self-control today! :cp: PS sorry for the rant - don't usually get quite this mad! |
